Flashback
The sun glared down upon the thick cobblestone walls, leaving stark, vivid shadows that heavily contrasted the blinding lights of the halls. The lights were purposefully too bright, to blind any prisoner, while the moment they were turned off, nothing could be seen beside darkness. The cold dank dungeons was generally quiet. For once, it only held one prisoner. Well, that's what Aleksandr thought anyway. The evidence of prior prisoners was clear though, the floor was caked in dried blood and he could hear the bodies of his species- possibly his own brothers and sisters- being eaten by maggots in the neighbouring cells.
Slaves didn't sleep more than six hours at a time. This often kept them alive, but barely enough to function while also being starved, force-fed scraps, and their control of their hunger tested. Aleksandr was lucky he had such rigid control- he was lucky his loyalty extended to his species, not just his own well being.
Aleksandr wouldn't endanger his own brothers and sisters by giving them any information. He would never let anyone harm those he cared for.
Not even as the whip kissed his skin, tearing into his every pain receptor or as blood poured from every pore and skin peeled from his very muscles. He would not give in.
Not yet.
The torture continued on for days, often weeks at a time. Aleksandr was often starved and thrown into a cage with humans, vile creatures that deserved a horrid death, often left with gaping wounds that gave vampires the knowledge a decent meal was so nearby. But, even then, Aleksandr refused to falter.
"Well if it isn't the snivelling leech," One of his captors new guards laughed as he strung Aleksandr up on the chains, spreading each limb high and opting for delivering an agonising shot of an arrow right into his shoulder.
He had dropped a drink as he had lost feeling in that arm from blood flow being cut off- thanks to a separate, prior punishment.
"Worthless leech. You may never do as I say but know this, your brothers will die soon. So will the rest of your blasted species." His captors sneered. "Now, let's test that new bat poison." A terrifying smirk overtook his face as he ripped that arrow right from Aleksandr shoulder and dipped it in a vat of black gunk. Aleksandr screamed loud enough he wa sure Lucifer could hear him. He had to- the amount of pain he was feeling was unbearable, he couldn't still be alive, could he?
Unfortunately, He was. and he felt every last peice of what those demented lunatics did to him.
