Chapter 6

Next morning, after having tea for breakfast, I sat down to watch TV and Jennie dropped besides me with her laptop.

"Hey Keira take a look" she pointed to her laptop screen.

"What is it?" I asked wearily refusing to take a look.

"After what happened yesterday, I went online on the internet and found out if werewolves are real" she said excitedly. Alright, so she did care after all.

"Werewolves?"

"Yeah it was a werewolf ghost, tomorrow was a full moon night!"

"Nonsense!" I didn't care on what she was trying to say, I mean, there is no such thing as 'werewolves' "Werewolves only exist in my dreams and whatever happened last night was an illusion. We'll just pretend as if nothing happened"

"Are you freakin' kidding me?" she spat at me "Listen you jerk, we are not taking this so easily okay, this is serious and you believe it or not but werewolves exist"

"Whatever I don't give a sh*t about it"

"I don't care if you give a sh*t at all but at least take a look, this webpage states ancient legends on werewolves and that they existed." when she noticed I paid no attention she pinched me hard "take a look bastard!"

"Alright, alright, what is it?" I asked still seeming less interested.

"They've also marked the places on the map they think are prone to have been werewolves habitats!"

"What...really?" Believe me, I didn't give a damn but curiosity killed the cat and, I'm not a cat but I wanted to live.

"Look! I think this is where you live" she pointed towards a tiny red dot. She was right, the dot was clearly placed on my apartment and labelled 'werewolf habitat 12.' There were 14 red dots all around the world map and one of them was on my colony. A chill ran down my spine as Jennie clicked the link 'history of werewolf habitat 12'. A short piece of content appeared on the screen.

"You read" she said turning the laptop towards me.

"Okay...it says. In 1965 there lived a family with their children an elder boy and a young girl. To make a living, they used to hunt animals using a pack of wolves they petted"

"Continue..." Jennie demanded when I had paused.

"Alright...But, the older boy was thought to have been hating the wolves mainly because he was scared that they would hurt his family. The wolves got mad at him and bit him and turned him into a werewolf...wait what?" what the hell "his mom while trying to save his son was killed by the wolves and the little girl wandered off into the forest, this all happened while the father was off to cut trees and gather food."

"Do you believe me now?" Jennie asked "continue reading"

"From that day people say that the ghost of the boy in his werewolf form and his father come in search for the little girl, but the legend has faded with time" I completed, such big liars, 'legend has faded' Huh.

"You see Keira, you see! That means the wolf ghost we saw yesterday was the boy" she said excitedly "and the man who had blocked our way and asked if we knew where his daughter was, was the father!"

Wait a minute, I had completely forgotten 'bout the old man. This legend did make sense but I wasn't able to believe in it.

"Let's go down again today and find out more"

"Are you out of your mind?" I squinted at her trying to get the amount of mettle this girl possessed"

"Yes Miss, I am"

I shook my head in disgust "You go, I'm not interested"

She gave me a challenging look "whatever I'm doing is to help you, c'mon don't want to find out the more? Don't you think we'd become great explorers if we uncover this mystery?"

"You think we're the only one working on this case?" I rolled my eyes "There might be many people trying to uncover the secrets behind the howling, even the great detectives"

"So what?" she smirked "We have enough info and we have a chance to prove ourselves. It's okay if we don't uncover the secrets behind it before the others but at least we tried. Please Miss Goody-two-shoes! Please!" And as usual, she convinced me on going on this dangerous mission with her stubborn self.

***********

"W...What if the werewolf shows up" I asked brave Jennie as we made our way towards the back of the building at around 2:30 at night.

"Even if it shows up it won't be able to harm us in anyway, it's a ghost remember" she smiled sounding pretty sure about what she said. But, Jennie, ghosts are no less, remember.

We sat trembling on a bench outside the swimming area waiting patiently for the ghosts to show up. I shivered as the cold night breeze blew my hair. Then from the garage someone stepped out. We couldn't make it out who it was in the darkness of night. I squeezed Jennie's arm as the figure came closer and closer, towards us. When the figure was right in front of us, I recognised him; it was the old man from tomorrow, the dad searching for his beloved daughter!

I prepared to take a bee-line from there but was stopped by Jennie's sudden question.

"A...Are you the...the ghost who lost your d...daughter?" she asked the ghost!

"Yes I am" replied the man-ghost "how'd you know?" A happy smile twisted on her face after hearing that.

"Uh...I guess...we should go now" I said, unbelievingly talking to a ghost "nice to meet you sir, c'mon Jen let's go!" saying that I started to pull her back.

"Wait! I'm Philip and I won't hurt you" said the man-ghost "and neither will Troy" he said pointing towards the werewolf which made its way out of the garage and rested at the Philip-ghost's heels. I was having a tough time trying to pull Jennie away from the scene but she refused to budge.

"I want to know everything about your daughter!" begged Jennie. I had started to lose my temper now, what was she thinking? Communicating with a ghost can lead to a lot of dilemmas. I wanted to run away from there but I couldn't just leave her alone, after all whatever she was doing was for me...or maybe she was just being stubborn.

"My daughter's name is Carla and she-" Philip's voice trailed off and he disappeared as a car approached and the driver parked it into the parking lot. He got off and demanded "What are you girls doing down here late at night, get back into your houses! We didn't answer and went back to my house.

I punched Jennie hard in her shoulder. "Are you out of your mind?"

"I was just trying to collect information" she said softly.

"Information? You could've been possessed, then he would've used you to search for his daughter and-"

"Whoa! Keira, don't think too much. We just came to know that his daughter's name is Carla and she must be living in your apartment building!" she said ignoring my warning.

"Oh! Let's just sleep" I said angrily and prepared to take a good sleep in my warm bed. She didn't talk further and obeyed my orders.
