Chapter 1
(Above one is Jennie and the bellow is the Kiera)
I pulled my blanket up to my chin as the deafening howls grew louder and louder, until it felt as if they were right outside my window! The howls grew more deafening, more mournful. I wanted to know why those dogs (or wolves!) were making that sound.
Suddenly, my bedroom door started to budge. It opened by itself revealing a black figure standing on it! My eyes widened as it came close to me, closer...closer...
I opened my eyes and sat straight on my bed. My small brother sat playing with his toys besides me. Another horrifying nightmare! Strange, I thought, this was the third dream I had about howls. I didn't have time to think of it as it was already 11:30 in the morning.
I heard a bell and went to open the door chewing on a piece of sandwich in my mouth. Here were my four friends. I quickly gulped the rest of the sandwich and let out "I know the howls I dream about are real!" directly jumping to the conclusion.
"Whoa. What howls?" Angel asked "What dream?" her long, black hair, swaying behind her as her dark blue eyes glared in mine.
Then it struck me that I had only shared this with Jennie and that Jessica and Angel knew nothing about it.
"Keira is dreaming about howls now-a-days" said Jennie, carelessly rolling her green eyes as if nothing in this world petrified her.
"You're trying to say the howls you here in your dreams actually exist for real?" Jessica asked "but how can you assure that?"
"I don't know!" I smiled in disappointed. "I just have this tingly feeling that I can't just have same dreams in a row. Maybe a pack of dogs actually howl for real outside my window and I hear them in my dreams!"
"That's making sense, but why do they howl?" asked Angel and why doesn't anyone else hear them?
"I don't know" I answered.
"Shut this howl talk now!" said Jennie shaking her head "dress up Keira, we're going to this amusement park- if you wanna' come?"
"Sure" I said and went off to dress-up. I sat in many freaky rides but continuously two questions kept on flickering in my mind - Are the howls real? If yes, then what's making the dogs howl?
As soon as I reached home I asked my mom if she knows any of our neighbours owning dogs. To my surprise her answer was - no!
"I'm coming over Keira" said Jennie on a phone call "you probably need someone to be with at a situation like this"
"I'm okay, you don't have to worry about me" I assured.
"No excuses, you know vacations are going on, I'm coming over the end" and my obstinate friend hung up. Jennie can be a little stubborn sometimes but she's still a lovely friend.
"Hi!" Jennie almost sprang onto me as I opened my door for her the next day.
"Whoa Jennie, relax!" I backed away before she'd get a chance to drag us both to the floor. I stared at her excited expression as she hopped around in my apartment.
She then looked out of my window "wow, beautiful!" she exclaimed to herself.
Yes the scenery was good - a huge table top mountain rose from diamond-like lily-intricated bushes. Thick mist swirled around in the beautiful garden nearby. The morning sun shone brightly. Its sunrays reflected from the artificial glass lanterns in the garden creating a beautiful hallow of light in my room.
Sure my stubborn friend was having a wonderful time in my room, but I know once she passes one night in it, forget the atmosphere, forget the scenery, forget its charm, she'll never want to turn around and take a look at it again!
