June 5th

I'll admit it-I'd been procrastinating entering the building. I've been planning when to enter, and I know at 10:45 PM, June 10th, we're going in.

Today, we went in in broad daylight.

The living room alone is really creepy. The chandelier had fallen, taking a chunk of the ceiling with it. The end of a bed hung from the hole. We had to be careful not to step on broken glass (upon falling, the chandelier had shattered). Dust covered the furniture, which was chewed up by mice. Brown spots splattered the room, and upon inspection, was dried, old blood. I slowly crossed the room to a door, which led into the dining room. At least this room was clean, save for the dust (the amount of dust was amazing. It made me questioned exactly HOW long this place had been abandoned. We had several sneezing fits). The kitchen was the same, but when we stepped inside, we heard several mice scurrying. There was another hole in the ceiling, but I couldn't tell what room was above us.

Upstairs, two doors were locked, so we couldn't enter. We had, however, checked the other rooms. We found the room located above the living room, but not the one above the kitchen. I'm guessing one of the two rooms that're locked is above it. Must remember to bring a lock pick next time. Madeline had found some other things, so I'll give the notebook to her.

I found a library. Doesn't sound too interesting, except one thing.

I found a book.

Yay, woo-woo, she found a book in a library. I get it. No, this book is different. It was about the house and its history.

And it was not pleasant.

I didn't take it home-I've learned not to take stuff from places supposedly haunted by ghosts, otherwise, you're just asking for it to follow you and wreck havoc in your life. But I remember, for the most part, what was in it.

The house was built in 1892. The owner's daughter had been viciously murdered when she was 12 by a visiting relative, who apparently was crazy. Her parents were grief-stricken, so they buried her IN THE BASEMENT.

What??!!

Anyway, the parents were expecting another child. She was born still. Her father went psycho and killed the mother, and the midwife. The place was empty for twenty years.

At the end of the book, there were a bunch of blank pages, so the new owners filled in their experiences. How they were expecting, how the husband was acting strange towards the end of the pregnancy, how the mother was hiding in the library, writing about how her baby was dead, how her husband wanted it, how he fought them to keep her, how he murdered the midwife.

How he was coming after her with a gun.

This ended with a black line, where it was obvious that the husband had grabbed her. The book was lying on the ground, covered in dust.

I dropped it again when I saw her. A woman. She stood there and stared at me, then screamed and flew through me.

I don't know how I know this-I have a tendency of picking up information that I don't know how I know it, I think it's because of the ghosts-but it's not a good idea to go into those locked rooms. Don't enter them. They'll be unlocked on June 10th, and at night, but DON'T ENTER.

Two more have died. One of them was a friend I made last time we were here. He was only my age-13. The other was another teen, but she was 16.

Still too young.

I'm scared to go in on the 10th, but I've got to. If we can resolve this early, I would be so glad.

Then again, I feel that way about every ghost hunt.

I'll say this now: this is not something a 13 year old should do. But when you're me, and you see or hear ghosts when most people don't, and your father struggles with money, and he's quite familiar with ghosts himself, this is necessary.

He's got his other reasons. I don't know what they are. He doesn't like to talk about it, but I think it has to do with Mom's death. But I don't know.

I live a scary life to know this.

I feel kind of bad that one of Madeline's friends have died-since we're on the move a lot, she doesn't get to see her friends often anyways, and most of the children were frightened of her because of her gift. This is another reason why we have to take care of this. Too many people have died.

The only thing is, we could be next.

I'll go back to what Madeline mentioned before. The girl. Is she the ghost we're having an issue with? Maybe if we find her body, we can probably stop this. I've learned that most ghosts have died unfairly, and those tend to be very deadly.

Or it could be her father, who went psycho, too. Why else would the father of the other stillborn child act the same way?

Or is it many ghosts?
