PART 3
A room stood in the far corner of the hallway and I decided to try it.
I wanted answers. I was so curious. Curious to explore this strange mansion... and find out why I was in it.
I wasn't so easily afraid of the dark, and I was usually brave.
Usually. Lets hope it doesn't betray me now.
The room was dark, but a large window allowed some light to come in. Once my eyes got used to the dimness, I looked around the room. There was a huge bed in the middle and a few cabinets -nothing interesting.
I checked some of the other rooms on the floor and all of them were the same. Every single room had a bed, and I even went through the cabinets, only to find money, jewellery and other unimportant stuff.
I wasn't really interested in all the gold and money because my sole purpose was to get out of this house in one piece.
I came out of the last room and sighed. The whole floor was done.
Slowly, my head turned to the staircase that lead to the top floor and I shivered inwardly. I decided to go up the stairs and check.
I needed answers.
Something about the door I saw next was strange. It gave a vibe that I could not put my finger on.
I stopped in front of the large door and tried to open it. It swung open with a little bit of difficulty but I managed.
I sneezed and covered my mouth as wisps of dust tried to tickle my nose. The room had a huge window that allowed enough light to come in so that I could see the huge bed and cabinets.
It was painted pink and on the wall was a human sized mirror. Below the mirror were a set of drawers. I went over to the drawer and saw that there was a photo frame. I picked it up.
The picture was of a young woman, perhaps in her late twenties, smiling at the camera. My eyes widened. It was Rose. I was sure of it. I had seen the same face on the newspaper cuttings my father had kept.
I carefully kept it down and opened the first drawer. In it were some dust covered pictures and books. There was also some jewelry such as ear rings, necklaces and rings. I cautiously picked up those photos and looked. The first one was a picture of a man and woman and a small girl standing between them. Probably her mom, dad and her. I kept it behind the photos I was holding in my hand.
The next one was Rose and a man staring lovingly at each other. The man had dark hair, brown eyes and -wait, I know this man.
A gasp escaped my lips as the photo fell from my hands.
The man in the photo. It was my dad.
