Chapter 28

THEY'RE BACK IN BUSINESS

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!

Rumours had it that our superhero duo had fallen apart, that the recent sightings of Ladybug flying over Paris (and taking people's under garments) was the start of the end for our dynamic duo, but as always our favourite couple have proved us wrong and are back in business bigger and badder than every.

The famed heroes are currently battling what we believe is an akuma near the River Seine close to Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris. This is the first one to grace Paris in three years and luckily for us Ladybug and Chat Noir are back and straight into action.

The Ladyblogger, our very own, Alya Cesaire will be covering live updates from the attack via our Twitter page.

To keep informed don't forget to follow us, and most of all don't forget to stay safe Paris, it's happening again.

•••••

Even after three years, the exhilaration of battle was still strong, and although she may complain and throw her dummy out the pram sometimes, there was something about it. Just something so miraculous.

The laughter continued to spread as they made their way towards the detected 'akuma', citizens below them probably thinking they'd lost their minds. Ladybug had always been so focused on her job, so straight and narrow that the idea of her and her partner (who everyone thought were in the middle of a 'lovers quarrel') running and leaping over rooftops whilst teasing and laughing was unheard of.

The shouts and cheers of passers by rang in her ears, as she mentally prepared herself to do something she hadn't in almost three years; since they'd last seen the Butterfly Miraculous. Regardless of what was happening, the stakes this time were higher. They had something to live for now, something more than ever before. When they'd last battled the Butterfly holder they were broken, angry and extremely aggressive, a stark contrast to their situation this time.

She didn't know whether knowing Chat's identity was going to be her strength or her undoing, but one thing was for sure; everytime her partner, her friend, her love, fell in battle, her determination increased. Nothing was greater than the need for the return of a loved one.

The 'Akuma' had settled itself near Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris, crouching and surveying from the protection of the Gargoyles. In response, they positioned themselves on top of their old collège, crouching as much as possible to hide themselves; Ladybug's red not exactly the greatest of camouflage.

"So what's the plan?" Chat Noir said, looking towards her. His eyes were sparkling with the same energy as she knew her own were. The need to get back out on the battlefield and kick some akuma ass.

She looked over towards the beautiful stained glass windows of Notre-Dame; the circular, colourful design almost sending her into a hypnotic trance. Ladybug looked over the situation trying to make sense of what the 'akuma's' powers were and whether she needed to call for her 'Lucky Charm' right away.

As if hearing their plee, the 'akuma' lowered herself down and onto the ground surrounding a group of tourists in what looked like the ends of her dress. She was beautiful, and Ladybug couldn't help but think there was a reason she looked this way. It wasn't just something to be aesthetically pleasing, but something to entrap men.

"She's a honey," the words tumbled out of Ladybug's mouth without a moment's thought. There was zero doubt in her mind that the akuma currently enticing all men to come closer to her was one of her own. One who lured men into the deep depths of desire and absorbed them into her own army. A rather impressive array of 'Kens' stood behind her as she moved sultry around the area.

"She's beautiful."

Ladybug slapped Chat hard in the chest, the impact drawing him out of the stare he was currently in. This was dangerous, if Chat was distracted this far away from the 'akuma', what chance did they have when they got closer.

"Sorry," he rubbed the back of his neck as she rolled her eyes at him. "Could you 'lucky charm' me a resistance or something? You know, to stop me from falling for her? There has to be something?"

She sighed, turning her attention once more to the 'akuma'. "I don't think it'll be that simple, Kitty. Come on, let's get a little closer." Swinging her yo-yo out she set off for a closer rooftop, hoping examining the situation would give a clearer view of what they were against.

Since Lila's defeat they'd restructured and reevaluated how they coped with future threats, the younger days of just breezing in and hoping for the best not longer an option. She could hear the knowing sound of Chat's baton following beside her, a noise comforting and the perfect opposition to the 'thwack' of her yo-yo.

As she landed, she stumbled forward getting a good view of the 'akuma' for the first time. Her clothing was beautiful, a complete opposition to the monstrosities Hawkmoth used to deck his in. Either Hawkmoth was finally using his designer sense (if he was Gabriel Agreste) or they were dealing with a new villain; even Lila couldn't come up with a design this alluring.

Her dark red flowing gown was edged in a gold trim as it hung and draped around her legs, cascading to the ground with perfect gold bows adding to the design where the edging had been pulled, the bottom rumpled and ruffled from the effect. The bask of her top was tight fitting and pushed her breasts to dangerous heights, the off the shoulder capped sleeves draped and hung perfectly in the middle of her arms.

"Melissa!" Ladybug breathed out, stumbling over her feet as she usually did her words.

"You know her?" Chat Noir asked, dropping down and supporting his partner around the waist. She moved her body into him relishing the support he was fawning upon her.

Ladybug nodded. "Yes, she's the secretary at Honeypot. I never knew she'd gone into trapping."

"Bad relationship?" he asked.

"She has a daughter, Aria, she split with the father just after she was born. She's one now though, I don't think that would do it...unless..."

Ladybug looked closer, examining the face of all the akuma's clones. They looked just like Aria's father.

"Shit! Fuck!"

"Wank?" Chat added, a snickering in his voice.

"You know, you're not funny."

"Oh, I think you'll find I am. I'm hilarious!"

Ladybug rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest, pushing one hip out to the side as she tilted her head to look at him.

"Well, Tim Allen, when you've finished your stand up routine, how about you come and join me? I'm going in."

She unhooked her yo-yo and went to swing only for Chat to grab it mid momentum and pull her back into him. He held her close to his chest, her body reacting with need and lust, her hands fanning out on his tough, masculine chest. The hard ridges underneath the super material screaming for her to uncover and taste. This was the first time since she'd found out he knew that she was up close to him without kicking his ass, and, damn, how she wanted to stay there.

"Wipe that look off your face, LB."

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said, moving her hands across his pecs and down his abs. Oh fuck yes! This was something she wanted. Him in his suit, pleasing her and edging her to an intense orgasm.

"The look where you're imagining many fun ways we can use the suits."

She looked up at him, mouth open. Could he read her thoughts now or something?

"No I can't, we're just extremely in sync."

"Fuck off, Agreste!"

"Okay, first of all, no civilian names. I thought you would have known better than that." He'd gone three years and she'd barely managed three days. Fuck!

"Second, autocorrect?" he questioned.

"Skittletits."

"Third, what's my name?" Ladybug suddenly clicked. This was a very important conversation, one they'd prepared three years ago.

"Dixon B. Tweenerlegs."

With that he let her go, her main aim to find where the Akuma was and free her friend. They were back in business.

•••••

Chat Noir watched her swing off tittering to himself. Yes it was immature but it was their fall proof plan when it came to akumas, sentis and other wacko magical spells. They had to have codes which changed monthly to keep them safe; and after a couple of years using secret handshakes and codewords for no reason other than getting cats out of trees and maybe stopping the odd criminal they'd decided to have some fun with it. So skittletits and Dixon B. Tweenerlegs would be for the remainder of this month.

Launching out after his Lady, Chat felt stronger than ever. Having this eternal tie with his Lady made the power course through him with a higher voltage than a power plant. He was quite sure one cataclysm, if not controlled, would take them to the centre of the Earth.

He landed on the floor in front of the 'akuma' and looked around at the many guards stationed in defence, and it was only then he noticed the bodies left on the floor, looking nothing more than soulless.

"I am Äte, Goddess of mischief and delusion, men are no match for my power, and I will destroy all I have come for, especially you, Chat Noir."

Äte raised her two hands, each possessing powers of their own as one swirled with a red energy, the other a white. As the orbs above her palms increased in size, so did Chat Noir's nervousness, causing him to spring out of the line of fire and head towards the rooftops and out of the way of the 'akuma'. The white beam chasing behind.

He landed on Marinette's balcony, his partner joining him mere seconds later, flipping herself next to him and crossing her arms.

"Are you okay?" He looked towards her, noticing the worried expression on his Lady's face.

"Yeah," he said, not wanting to elaborate on it. "Find anything out?"

"The akuma's in her hair grip, it's the only thing that's purple."

"So what's the plan, M'Lady?"

"Get in, get out and don't get hurt?" she said nonchalantly, a smile gracing her lips as she looked at him.

"I like the sound of that. What would you like me to cataclysm? Take down her henchmen?" he asked, hand stretched up and waving towards his partner.

"Hold your horses, Chat," she laughed, taking her yo-yo from her hip. "I'm thinking we head straight for her, and try to avoid her little army. They seem to be doing more damage than she is."

Chat looked out to the battle zone, Äte firing out the white and red beams left, right and centre. Yeah, he thought maybe Ladybug had been hit in the head or something because he was quite sure he didn't want to get on the wrong side of the 'akuma'.

"I - I don't know Bugaboo, call me cautious but I don't think I'll be coming back from that hit."

He pointed over to where the red beam had struck a bridge, the whole object dissolving into nothingness as the white beam took all the men from nearby and dragged them back to her like puppets.

"Come on, Chat, what's the worst that could happen?"

"I could become one of those soulless bodies on the floor leaving my ring open to all the elements and this new villain. Who, by the way, better have a decent name."

"Coming from someone who literally named himself, black cat!"

"Speak for yourself, Ladybug."

She giggled and pushed him away, more girlish than he'd ever seen from her. "Stop!" she said without malice, as an uncomfortable feeling settled deep within his gut.

As though going high on alert, he looked back out into the distance. Something bothered him more than he cared to admit. His jaw clenched, as his hand automatically reached behind his back for his baton, grabbing it firmly before bringing it infront of him. A slight change from hand to hand, familiarising himself with the weight, before stopping and extending it to part length.

If he was out of suit he was quite sure the hairs on his arms would be standing, a clear indication to be on his guard, that something wasn't right.

"Anyway," he uttered, "let's get this done. I have a hot babe at home waiting to be fucked."

He kept his eyes on the distance, his jaw remaining firm and his brain almost short circuiting with the sparks of theories making themselves known, yet nothing could fully blow out. Just tiny minuscules of ideas. He just needed a...little...more.

"How vulgar? Do you talk about all your girls that way?"

Bingo!

"Just a specific one. She gives back in equal amounts."

Ladybug started giggling again. "Must be some woman. Where did you find her? Down at a rodeo?"

He finally turned his head to look at her, his heart beating erratically. What was she? A sentimonster? A magical spell placed to entice him? Had his Lady been brainwashed?

"No, it all started with an autocorrect."

"What? How would that even work?"

He paused waiting to see if she made a move first, but she didn't. She remained staring at him, her eyes glittering in the sunlight, and her tongue escaping her mouth to lick her bottom lip before scraping her top teeth across it, diverting his attention there.

He gulped, biting down on his own lip. His own eyes stuck on hers, his whole body feeling entrapped and enticed by this Ladybug. He knew it wasn't right that he shouldn't be making this move in towards her, her eyes drawing him closer and closer. He couldn't blink, his eyes growing drier and drier with every passing second. His head moving towards the woman in front, the woman who...

A painful impact hit him smack bang the centre of the back of his head, one surprisingly familiar and drawing him back to his senses. He finally blinked, repeatedly until his eyes were moist once again. Finally focusing in front of him, he noticed it wasn't Ladybug, but Äte. The akuma being wrapped in the yo-yo string of his partner.

"Chat!" His Lady said, pulling his attention from the beautiful woman in front of him to the impossibly gorgeous one behind. "Cataclysm her hair clip."

The 'akuma' began to pull against the restraint of the yo-yo. Chat moved forward, set to grab the hair clip and release the butterfly only to be pushed backwards and off the roof, a new player had entered the game.

•••••

Ladybug watched as Chat was talking to Äte on the rooftop, unsure what to do. The way his body language had changed sent a shockwave of fear over her. There was no way she'd made him one of her slaves, his body was still there, he was still him.

She watched as they conversed and then she saw it, the moment he froze up and became defensive, when he patiently waited for her to make a move, which she did. His eyes remained forward as he spoke, the solid line of his jaw the only sign of his uncomfort and plan building. She knew that look well.

He turned his head toward her and Ladybug's stomach twisted and churned as Äte moved in towards him, licking her lower lip and pulling his attention there; his own head following. She had him under her spell.

Attaching the yo-yo to the nearest chimney, she swung with all her might, determined not to lose her boyfriend to the siren's spell. Her feet prepared to land as she released the yo-yo and unleashed it once more, this time smacking her partner on the back of the head, before she fired it out and around Äte; grabbing the 'akuma' in the yo-yo's grasp.

"Chat!" she said, watching as he turned to face her, his eyes awakening and coming back to her. "Cataclysm her hair clip."

It was too late though. As Chat moved forward, his hand unactivated, a shadow loomed over them, getting enlarging in size as the owner progressed closer to the rooftop. The realisation of what was happening caused Ladybug to kick in with her natural instincts, pushing Chat Noir out the way and off her balcony. The newcomer landed before her, a snap of her fingers signalling Äte to still.

"So here she finally is. The great and mighty Ladybug." The woman took a dramatic bow, her eyes never leaving Ladybug's as she bent forward.

Ladybug looked over at her. Just like Äte she was beautiful. The wisps of gold accentuated the body coloured material she was coated in, the head to toe catsuit clinging to every inch of the woman's body and making her look alluring to men, the gold feather pendant sitting in between her breasts and embedded in the costume; this wasn't a Miraculous that would be easy to take.

Her outfit sparkled and shined in the sunlight, encrusted in thousands of magical diamantés and golden swirls. The light gold material flowing freely in a trouser like design giving her the aesthetic of a mermaid. A temptress and danger.

"Oh how rude of me!" she exclaimed, raising an eyebrow and bringing Ladybug's attention to the fine elaborate details of her mask, or should she say face. "The name's Lorelei and it's a pleasure to meet you. But I was more interested in that purrfect partner of yours. I'm in need of a man by my side."

Lorelei stretched up, wrapping a finger around the waves of her hair. Long and as golden as the sun.

"Stay away from my Kitty," Ladybug hissed through gritted teeth.

"Now, now, beetle, no need to be so defensive. I'm sure he can make his own choices. He's a big boy, you know, a very big boy."

She reacted before she felt her fiery fury, her yo-yo extending out to grab Äte once more and pulling her in, and yanking the hair clip from the akuma's hair, demolishing it between her hands only for no butterfly to appear.

Ladybug looked around in uncertainty, the cackling sound of Lorelei's laughter quickly joined by Äte's. Ladybug pushed her away two women standing together, a vision of both beauty and terror.

"You really thought it would be that simple? I thought you'd have more sense than that."

"Lucky charm," throwing her yo-yo in the air she called for the one piece of luck she had left, only for a black box to fall into her hands.

Well, shit! Looks like they are playing the defence for a while. As she studied the box, she didn't notice Chat landing beside her, nor did she notice Lorelei's song filling the air.

•••••

Chat Noir had been waiting perched under the balcony unwilling to show himself until he knew the time was right. He listened in on the conversation, the unease still coursing through his veins for releasing too late that Ladybug wasn't his Ladybug. He should have known the lack of cursing wasn't usual for his well vocabed partner in battle.

As soon as he heard her call for her 'Lucky Charm' he knew his waiting had come to an end, launching himself up and onto the balcony and taking his rightful position beside her, but that position didn't remain long. As if gravitating towards the Earth's core, he found himself moving in the direction of the one he was sure called herself 'Lorelei'.

Lorelei? Singing...lures...men!

Shaking himself out of the trance he grabbed Ladybug's Lucky Charm, noticing a button on top and slamming his finger against it. A high pitched cat annoyance noise sounding from the box, piercing through his head and blocking out the dreamy sounds of the siren and pulling his attention straight back to his Lady.

•••••

She wasn't sure what was happening, one minute she was staring at the box, next it had been ripped out of her hands by her partner, him slamming his finger on a button.

He turned to face her, his face in pain as he stumbled back; her arms open ready to catch him as he fell, his hands over his ears blocking something out.

What was she doing to him?

"So it seems you've found a way around my siren call. But it won't last for long, Marinette. As soon as he finds out who you are and what you've done he'll abandon you."

"We need to leave." Chat's voice said, "I can't... it hurts..."

Ladybug's eyes fluctuated between Lorelei, Äte and Chat, her partner suddenly being covered in her spots and moving to number one priority. She grabbed his waist and prepared to move them away.

"It's been nice meeting you, Ladybug. I can't wait for our next encounter."

A shiver ran down her spine as she launched them into the distance and landed back on their collège rooftop; a cloud of purple circulating around the area.

Positioning Chat on the roof, she ran back to the ledge peering over and looking towards her rooftop. The two femmes fatales lifted into the sky, clouding the area before all the men on the floor stirred once more. They were showing their powers, placing their mark on Paris as the new villains; villains who knew her name.

As quickly as they had arrived, they disappeared into the distance, both covered by a purple mist and hidden agendas.

"Fuck!" she yelled, slamming her palm down on the edge of the roof.

She grabbed the box and threw it into the air calling out for 'Miraculous Ladybug' and watching as Paris was once again returned to normal, or as normal as it could be. She leaned on her forearms, looking out into the distance before bringing a hand to her face and wiping over her mask.

"Fucking whores," she grunted, only for the sound of a sigh to come beside her. She side eyed Chat Noir as he positioned himself similarly next to her.

"Wanna talk about it?"

"No!"

"Well you can listen to me then, because for once I actually have a plan," he said, turning around and resting his back against the ledge, arms crossed and ankles as he lounged. How could he be so fucking calm?

"What's that Kitty? Are you going to makeout with them until they give in to your pure, unbridled sensuality?"

"Sometimes I hate you as much as I love you, do you know that?" he said, zero malice in his words.

Rolling her eyes, she stepped into his arms and comforted herself in his embrace. "Hug me." She looked up into his eyes and pulled his own stunt of kitten eyes. He wrapped his arms around her too, pressing a kiss into her hair, a normal display of affection seen by the heroes over the past three years, and one she'd only just realised must have meant the world to him.

"What's your plan then? I'm too freaked out at the moment to think straight."

"Can we call a meeting? We're going to need everyone," he sighed.

"Fei, Jess and Aeon included?"

"Girl power, Bugaboo."

"How the hell did we end up like this?" she asked.

"A man in a dodgy Hawaiian shirt thought he had a good idea?"

"Master Fu is a bastard! The biggest fucking bastard in the world, and I fucking hate him."

Chat chuckled, squeezing her tighter before she moved herself back. "No you don't."

"Unfortunately that is true, he brought me to you."

God, she wanted to kiss him! Right there in front of the world, but it wasn't their time. Not yet. So, instead she punched him in the shoulder. All she needed to add was a 'good work slugger' and she would have only been slightly less pathetic.

"What time we meant to be meeting Alya and Nino?" she asked, flicking open her yo-yo to check the time.

"Half 10."

They had thirty minutes.

"You head home and get ready, I need to go and stop by 'The Liberty'."

"Shall I meet you there?"

"Yeah, can you get the girls to come meet us too? Unfortunately for Alya and Nino, their issues are going to have to wait." As he pulled his baton from his back she placed one hand on his arm. "Oh, and Chaton. Just make sure you knock on their door before you enter the room."

She dropped him a wink, as she built the momentum up of her yo-yo, ready to launch into the distance. "Get Jess and Aeon there too." She called back.

Releasing the yo-yo she made her way over Paris heading in search for their safe space.

•••••

Landing on 'The Liberty' she was grateful to see Luka out on the deck.

"Ladybug?" he queried, "what are you doing here?"

"Come with me," she turned and walked down into the main compartments of the boat.

"You seem to know this place well?" She froze on the spot, slowly turning to smile at him. To say the smile was cringy would have been a disservice to the word cringe.

"I - um - a few years ago there were a couple of attacks on this boat. Yep, that's the only reason why," she rambled off.

"Marinette."

"What? Me? Marinette? No! Who's Marinette?"

Luka sighed and rubbed his hand across his forehead.

"I probably should have told you this years ago, but I know who you are, Ladybug."

She didn't know if you could feel yourself grow pale, but if you could, this feeling right now was that feeling. Every inch of blood leaving the top half of her body and falling into her feet.

"Why does everyone suddenly know who I am? I worked so fucking hard to keep this a fucking secret."

"Marinette Dupain-Cheng swearing? I never thought I'd see the day."

Sighing, she dropped her transformation and stood staring at her friend.

"So for what do I owe the pleasure of Paris' saviour?" Luka asked, guiding her into his room and offering up his bed.

Looking at the state of his sheets, Marinette decided she'd be more comfortable on a chair. Who knows what he'd been doing in them? The way they were thrown around and a little 'tatty' she could only imagine.

Sitting down she looked at Luka who was staring back suspiciously.

"I need to get all the holders together, and this was the safest place I could think to do it?"

"Sure, Alya and Nino are meeting here but I'm guessing you'll need them too."

"Yep, and we will discuss this later. Right now I need you to do me a favour. Can I give you a list of all the ex holders? Chat's already gone to get additional reinforcements."

"What about Alya and Nino?"

"Their shit is just going to have to wait."

Luka nodded, heading towards his desk to grab his phone, opening the notes app so Marinette could create a list of the names. He didn't even seem slightly fazed by any of the names on there, including his sister.

"Thank you, Luka. I always knew I could depend on you." She stepped forward to embrace him only to trip on a shoe and tumble on top of him, taking them both down onto Luka's unmade bed.

"Well, this is an interesting sight to see."

Marinette let go of Luka, springing off the bed and moving back, staring at the doorway to see Alya standing beside Adrien.

"It's not what it looks like?" Marinette exclaimed, waving her hands in front of her. She noticed Alya looking directly at Adrien before peering back at Luka sprawled out on the bed.

"What? That Luka needs to clean his room? Because sorry dude but this looks like a shit hole." Adrien said, crossing his arms over his chest, his muscles rippling under his tee and making her want to yank it off and lick them.

"Marinette? You're drooling?" Alya said, tapping the corner of her lips. Reaching up, Marinette felt the dampness...indeed she was.

"I'm just - oh wow, can you smell that? Hummm...delicious."

Adrien raised one eyebrow at her, causing her to stick her tongue out at him.

"Whatever weird shit this is, can you two finish it later? Nino will be here -"

"Now."

Their heads turned towards the doorway, Nino standing just behind them looking worse for wear. An uncomfortable silence took over the room as everyone tried to decide what to be. The cool one? The I-don't-know-what-this-is-about one? The 'oh look, a fly' one? Or in Luka's case...The 'I have an escape card' one?

"Back asap?" he said, walking towards the doorway.

Marinette looked at the tension between Alya and Nino, as Luka made his way up onto the deck and away from the soap opera drama that was about to unfold. As Nino went to speak, Alya beat him to the cut.

"I'm pregnant."
