9. The Marriage ♥️

HANEEF POV.

"Mom you need to accept this. It's okay even if you don't like her I am sure you will eventually do.

After this marriage I am obligated to make her happy, do you want me to face Allah's wrath?

Mom you know about all these things, I don't have to start preaching to you. You know Kaka wanted this not Dad so for once please let this one go and try to reconcile with Dad" I tried persuading her.

"Alright my son I will reconcile with your dad and you can go ahead and marry her" she said not really happy about it. But it seems like she gave up because there was virtually nothing she could do.

"Thank you very much mum" I said not able to withhold the excitement in me.

"That doesn't mean I like her" she added.

"My son!!"
" Yes mum" I answered.
"You've changed. You talk more than often now. These days I always see you smiling sheepishly like a love struck dummy. Are you sure they aren't using any form of charm on you?" She asked looking at me like am some sort of Alien.

"No!! Mom you can't say that and Nobody has the power to do anything Allah hasn't destined for me so please stop saying things like that and pray for me okay?" I replied.

"Okay!" She answered. Mom and her frustrating dramas shaa... I need to text haneefah.

HANEEFAH POV.

I was with Auntie Husnah in my room looking at henna design samples on Instagram when a message popped up on my phone screen.

Assalamualaikum hey princess__ Haneef

Woah!! What am I seeing Aunty husnah exclaimed.
Are you sure it's Yaya haneef or his WhatsApp Account was hacked, I asked her.

He doesn't text you? Yes! He only calls me and we talk briefly. It's normally to ask about my well being, I answered. Well then reply the message.

Waalikasalam good evening___ Haneefah

~~~~~
Today is the first day of the wedding ceremony, the bridal shower day. I wore a Lacy purple gown, adorned with all sorts of beads and shiny stones. The makeup artist was done performing her wonders on me before I Skyped Ikhee.
"This is an amazing transformation Hanny you look beautiful just like a princess." She said with a grin.
" Thanks sweetheart I really wished you were here with me today" I answered. Resisting the urge to shed some more tears.
"There you go again peaches, please don't ruin your make up okay.
Cheer up and look like a happy bride. I have classes now so I'll call you later." She said. Okay bye
The bridal shower in Hausa referred to as KAMU, is normally held without the groom. After much entertainments, dances and refreshments, the event was finally over and I am so happy because I get to pull off these uncomfortable and tiring heels.
I prayed and texted Yaya Haneef that I am too tired and I am going to retire to bed. I also called Ikhlas and we chatted a bit before I said my Azkhar and went to sleep.
~~~~

Today is the day for the wedding fatiha. I bathed dressed in a simple but beautiful Coral blue lace, with gold jewelery, I was about putting on my shoes when my phone rang.

Assalamualaikum princess __Haneef

Waalikasalam my prince __Haneefah

Or should I just call you Wifey? __ Haneef

I checked my time and it's already 11:00am and the fatiha was scheduled for 10:00am. Resisting the urge to facepalm myself, I replied.

Ohh sorry I didn't keep track of time ___Haneefah.

Ok no problem princess it normally happens that way
I think you need to do some other things so bye. __Haneef

Okay Bye__ Haneefah

Ok so I am now officially a Mrs, from today onwards I will have to wake up every morning not in my comfy single bed but in his house and close to him. This is too much emotions and it's hard for me to take them at once.

I was knocked out of my trance by my mom.

"Baby your grandma wants to see you" She called.

I used my veil to cover my head and went to see her.

"Kakalle na"

"Naam Haneefah" she answered. Being the first time, my grandma calling me by my name sent shivers down my spine.

"You are a married woman now.."she started. "I don't really have much to say to you because I am positive you will make a great partner. And I want thank you for fufilling my wish. And I pray to Allah to fulfill all your heart desires, protect you from harm, give you children, and make your home a very happy one"

"Ameen thank you Kaka" I said feeling grateful.
"Your husband is waiting outside so go take some pictures" she instructed.

I went to the main sitting room to find Yaya Haneef I mean my husband with his best friend and some of his other friends, I greeted them before we started taking the pictures.

I started with My husband, obeying every single instruction of the photographer, we were about to take the last one when he talked for the first time since I entered.

"You look breathtakingly beautiful" he complimented.

"Well thank you and you are also not looking bad" I answered.

"Looking forward to your look for the dinner, I bet you will look drop dead gorgeous because I know I didn't marry an ugly woman" and I smiled at his comment.

So many people congratulated me, I got different kind of gifts. I couldn't even see my mom through out because she was also very busy.

The Makeup Artist came around 4:30pm And started the creation of a new look. I wore a blue colored Ashoke buba and wrapper tied around my tummy with Gele (head gear). I chose the outfit with my best friend in min ahd, I really do miss her. I wore shoes and a purse to match.

My mom came to make sure I was ready and sent me to where My husband's car was packed. I entered with a salam and he happily answered. "You look Magnificent, this was way off what I was thinking you will wear and it really suit you." I answered with a simple Thank you and we drove off.

We arrived there just in time and we were called as a couple to make our entrance, my cousins and maids of honor Fati and humaira and few of my friends danced as we walked in, we danced with my parents and in-laws with the exception of my mother-inlaw and we got seated on the seat preserved for the couple.

We were about to cut the wedding cake when my husband signaled the Mc, collected the microphone and started his speech.

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen, thank you for saving your precious time to come and celebrate the union of I and my wife here. I really have something to tell my wife an I need everyone's full attention." He cleared his throat before

Haneefah, I don't know what stroke of good fortune allows me to make you mine. The wheels of fate turned and brought me to a perfect moment of tenderness and happiness, I cannot tell you that I love you right now and words can't explain how happy and grateful I am, but I will show you by being your pillar when you need me.

I will be the best husband you could ever wish for, and I will be an amazing father to our future unborn perfections.

I promise from now onwards, every moment and second I have I will love, respect and cherish you for the rest of my life.

Thank you for becoming Mrs. Haneefah Abdulgaffar Wasai."

He used his thumb to wipe the tears that managed to slip down my cheeks. "I am really happy to have you as my wife" he said in a whispering tone. Then slipped a very beautiful diamond ring on my finger.

Applauses and cheers erupted from the audience and I felt something i never did; warmth, love, joy and peace. I have definitely found my soulmate, my hubby, my world, my everything. All praises be to Allah. But I still feel the emptiness and pain of leaving my parents to start a new life creating a new family.

We cut and ate the wedding cake, danced and celebrated with a happy heart.

After the ceremony, we went back home and got ready to leave for my husband's house. I was dressed by Aunty Husnah and I was taken to my parents for farewell.

Admist tears, my family Advised me to respect, keep my marriage. I thanked and bade them goodbye before I was conveyed to my Husband's house.

Ikhlas POV.

I sat on my bed watching haneefah's wedding pictures and videos when I came across his speech, I felt the tears stinging my eyes threatening to fall.

FYI I still like my best friend's husband. Though am not supposed to but I can't help that I do. Time heals all wounds and it seems like time isn't working on my own wound.

Why does it have to be my best friend's husband? Why? Why? I hate myself so much already.

I set them free as they ran down my cheeks.

"Hey!! What's wrong?" Delilah asked clearly concerned.

" Nothing am just being emotional cos am happy for her" I said as I quickly wiped my face.

"So you want to tell me you are shedding tears cos you are happy?" She said Giving me the "I know you are telling lies" look. .
"Yeah" I answered weakly.

"It's okay if you don't wanna talk about it, but just remember whenever you need a friend, I'll be a dial away. Whatever it is I'll be there for you, when you feel like talking about it then I'll listen to it. Just know a problem shared is half solved."

Wow! I felt my eyes water a bit, it's so touching to hear those words from a friend, the support and everything.

I thanked her and got ready for work. Yeah!! Delilah and I work as waitresses in a Cafe and it's almost time for our evening shift.

Haneefah POV.

I woke up the next morning bathed and got ready. I made pancakes and tea, FYI my newly wedded husband is sprawled on the bed, sleeping like a lazy last born. I silently chuckled rubbing my palms against his cheeks. Rise and shine Amorcito.

He lazily opened his eyes and they brightened with joy when his eyes fell on me. "Morning sweetie how was your night" he answered.

"Uhmm! Well, it's quite awesome" I answered.

"Oooohh! Tell me about it" he said trying to be cocky.
My face was flushed when he bursted out laughing.

"Hey! Breakfast is ready are you gonna bath first or eat first" I said trying to change the topic.

"Oh trust me am gonna bath first."

He came out in his full glory wearing a jersey and a three-quarter pants. I couldn't keep my eyes off him, I kept staring without even knowing I have been staring for too long.

"Hey! You're drooling, take a picture I think that lasts longer" he teased. I quickly looked away feeling embarrassed.

"I thought teasing you won't work but I think I love the look on your face right now" he said admist laughter.

We silently chewed on our pancakes Stealing glances at eachother.
I cleaned the dishes and the kitchen before joining him in the sitting room watching TV.

"Wait!! What are you watching? I thought only old folks watch news these days, you are such an oldie." I laughed at him.

He handed over the remote to me, "oooh let see what young folks watch these days."

I proudly collected the remote control and changed it to Nickelodeon and was Happy to watch Knight squad.

Hey!! did I mention that I am a fan of kiddies programs, shows and animations? If I didn't then I am now.

"Huhh! you are such a baby" he huffed.

"Assalamualaikum inlaw" I heard their Salam and jumped to the door to hug them.

"Waalaikum Salam Hey sugar plums welcome, get seated."

It's humaira and Fati my sister in-laws. They greeted my husband and he answered quite warmly before they turned to me

" Ummah asked me to bring these to you without mummy knowing" they said handing over the warmers to me.

They sat down and I collected the warmers filled with food from them. That reminds me! It's a tradition In hausaland that brides don't cook during the first week of their marriages though it doesn't often work now.

It was fried rice and chicken with salad, fresh fruits.

I chatted with my twins, talking about how hectic the wedding was, the amazing makeup artist, the awesome DJ and so on.

After Zuhur prayer, I served the food, firstly taking my husband's food to his room, "hey handsome! Your lunch"

"Thanks"he said.
" just like you knew that I was hungry, but please won't they go back or will I have to send them back cos am Missing my sweetheart already."

"Kai Yaya they are leaving in the evening fa!" I said pouting my lips.

" ohh i see so you replaced me with your cousins?" He asked.

"Hey they are your sisters" I said unable to contain the amusement in my voice.

"Yeah they are my sisters but they are taking away my wife from me" He said while pouting and battling his lashes making him look like a sweet little boy.

"Ok just let me go have lunch with them okay?"

" Just lunch" He answered.

" ok thank you"

I had lunch with them, talking about things we all missed and they left after that, I did the dishes, cleaned the kitchen prayed Isha before challenging my husband to a game of chess.

I won 3/1 and was happy cos I got to tease him like he did to me this morning.

I think.. No I just realized that I love my husband very much. More than anyone can ever love him. Actually not all arranged marriages are wreck, when you decide to give it a try then you will discover how blessed you are to have the person as your spouse.
