Chapter 4: The beginning of the end

Day 2, only tonight until that warning does or doesn't take place. I get up and put on my cloth, leaving the Slate where it was. "Sharen, what's my to-do list for today?" "Well, your majesty. The only thing on the list is a notice that your father has returned home, my leige." Really? He came back! In my sudden joy, all of a sudden a defender enters my room as if waiting for me to get up. I start to get concerned about my fathers absence in the first place. "His majesty, lord Isaiah wishes to see you." A knight of the gaurd, an escort? This is new. "I shall." I say as I walk out of the room, leaving counciler Sharen to clean it. I walk out into the hall. There was another defender and a sling out here. "Why so many?" The defender walked out. "This is of utmost importance." This must be serious, hearing this seemed like a foreshadow of my kingdom's own demise. I now fear for my kingdoms well-being, hoping it is nothing more than a thought. "Okay." I walk to the middle of the second floor hallway and through the big door to the third floor in the middle of the upstairs balcony. They followed in formation, the defenders at my sides and the sling behind. A weird formation, normally used for prisoners, not escort. We go through a set of hallways. The cold floorstone gives me a chill, it must still be early for the stone to be so cold. We finally reach the door to the throne room, gaurded by Cecil and Cole. Looking very sturn, Cecil with his helmet off, showing a solid white mushroom hair cut. Cole also not wearing his helm, which was more normal, giving visability to his solid black short hair that reflects his personality greatly. They open the gate and I walk through, with both not even greeting me. The defenders and the sling wait at the door, now in a new formation more used for holding forts. "Your majesty, it is good to finally see you home." I bow before my father, waiting for words otherwise. As I stare at the floor I have an overwhelming happiness to see my calm fathers face. "Son, you may rise. It is good to see you too, after the events of yesterday informed to me by Cecil Valen, I felt great concern." I got up and asked, "How was your visit with your brother?" "It was fine son, its what I wanted to talk about. I gave him my final wishes. Now don-" "What!? My lord! Why?" I knew I expressed too much then, and I tried to gather my feelings. "I am afraid 2 weeks ago, my other brother Paul launched a full out assault to take our capital, led by Asriel Garner." No, anyone but the feared darkangel of death, Asriel! I've heard many things about him. Like the fact that in armor he is practically a deadly iron sheet of malice, and that he has never been seen without it. Such a suedo-name was appropriate for the abomination. "Father! You can't just give up. Call the royal gaurd! Defend the capital with your lives!" The soldiers are about to move but lord Isaiah stops them just by moving a finger. "No son. This is why I didn't tell you. The country is too far gone. We never had a chance. But I have a plan, and that's why I called you here Isahia."
"M-my lord..." "When my kingdom falls, Paul will take the castle instead of destroying it. I know this. You and a small caravan will flee before the Copperblaze soldiers reach the capital, which will be very soon. We hold them at the walls now." No... I can't let you... "No father! Either you come with me or I die fighting here!" "No son, that is impossible. If I went Paul would know, he'd hunt us down and eliminate us both. How wasteful that would be... I must stay and die with my people. You must go and come back with reanforcements to take back the castle and start your own empire. Do me proud, son. For I know you can." He said, finalling his words, as if I had no say in the matter. "I can't let you die!" An air of silence follows after, father seeming to stare through me as the soldiers along the line of the cold royal hall seem to prepare. "...The small caravan I send with you will prepare you to become king. Your first step is to reach for Equalibarium Tower to receive the amulet of peace. Secondly, you are to go to the capital of Goldstone and meet your uncle. He will know what to do from there. Now, to meet your party... First up, Shaw. My scholar, who will teach you to be a great king beyond any other. Next up, Emylia the tactician, who will teach you in the ways of war. Lastly, my best warrior. Jayce, a veteran gladiator who has gone far beyond the call of duty. But you already know him." Shaw walks up to me... he's a little taller than me, having brown hair like my own but longer. Same body type, thin, but he has green eyes instead of blue. He almost is too much like me, but yet is definitly characterized. He wore a black cape much like my own, with a vampirial click on the back of his neck. A spear lay along his back, but I believe he is only a Jouste. Also he wore a royal light leather armor that was a deep blue color, as my knight armor in my room was gold. But his current cloth was an exact copy of my own, which was a bit weird. "Good to meet you, future king." Shaw said, kind of coldly, but bowing slightly. We probably won't get along much... Next was Emylia... having red hair in a pony tail. Blue eyes like my own, and an overcape of solid green with a chain lace keeping it together at the spire. I can't tell if she is older or younger though, she's about the same hight. "Sorry this has to happen... I truly am." She says in concern for me. She is quite young to be a tactician worthy of my fathers praise. She will most likely be a valuable asset to be so youthful, and may even be a friend. Her cloth was traditional for a Rogue, even though based on the bow and arrows on her back she was an archer. Too bad I refuse to leave. Then lastly, there was Jayce... with his same burly beard of reddish brown. He wore guilded armor in a red ruby tint, with heavy overplating in Sapphire tent rimmed in gold. But one of the shoulderplates was missing, and only the left remained. He was wearing his old knight uniform with his trusty axe he was never without. Easily taller than me by far, almost doubling me. "Not done with you yet boy..." He throws a smirk, but it only enflares me more. I push Jayce out of the way in anger and walk up to the throne. "I refuse to leave!" ...silence fills the room, but still my fathers face doesn't change, it worry's me. "I knew you'd say that. Farewell son." He snapped his fingers, reminding me of my dream only two nights former. Jayce grabs my arms, dragging me out as I screamed in anger and sadness. My vision grew blurry with tears. My father grows smaller and blurrier as the gates of the throne room shut in front of me. Just for a second I catch one last glimpse of Cecil and Cole. Cecil's face showed care while Cole winced and looked away from my gaze, as if in... shame. I continued to be dragged down the cold, dark hallways throughout the hallowed halls. Too dark for many, but right now it felt right. It was raining this morning, for I heard it rumble through the stone. The fog of war was upon us. I continued to scream, but it was no use. It was drowned out by the sounds of war; screams of my people, and the war cries of the Copper cavalry, along with the cannons firing blazing through the outer wall of Itropolice! The cannonballs and bloodcurtaling screams! My people are in trouble, and I am too weak to do anything. I couldn't even escape Jayces grip. My eyelids grew heavy. Was this the end? Is it over? Everything I ever loved was about to leave me! I look hard and see the castle gate closing behind me. My home closing behind me... I collapse at the burst of emotion I cannot control. Thoughts of playing with Paull in the castle garden when his father came over plagued my mind along with mothers good night's. No! I can't leave! I can't lose him too! Sleep came over me, then I am then placed in a wagon. Jayce drives off through the secret back gate of the northern wall only inches away from the castle. The sounds of war grew dim as Jayce turned south around the capital at safe distance headed toward Riided forest... Mark my words Paul! On the day of my return, my spear shall taste your heart!!!
