Unusual - Part 4 - Lindir x Reader

(Y/n) stopped as she, Bilbo and Gandalf drew ever closer to the realm of the half-elven lord. She thought that she would feel nothing but joy as she looked over the elegant buildings and the multitude of sparkling waterfalls that were being kissed by the early afternoon sun; Lindir, the reason that she had returned to Rivendell, was there after all. Yet there was something.......something that didn't feel right, an ache in her heart that was nothing to do with the loss of Thorin, Fili and Kili; nothing to do with having left the place that they had fought so hard to reclaim. An awful thought entering her mind that the feeling was because something had happened to the dark-haired ellon that had claimed her heart without knowing it.

"(Y/n)........my dear......what........?" Gandalf asked, as he caught her attention. The princess looking between him and the scene in front of her.

"We have to make haste..........." Was all she replied, before quickly continuing on her way. Gandalf and Bilbo just looking at one another, before doing their best to catch up with the fleet footed dwarrowdam.

                                                   >>--------------------------------------<<

Elrond made his way from Lindir's rooms. The lord only further disheartened by his visit. Since he had informed his equerry, his friend of the contents of the missive he had received from Erebor, Lindir had begun to fade. It all happening so scarily quickly, that now the ellon was little more than a shadow of himself; and no matter how much Elrond and even Arwen had tried to help, to console him, the knowledge that the half-dwarf, half-elf princess was now beyond Lindir's reach, in the Halls of Mandos, made the peredhel fear for how much longer the ellon might have in the world.

"If there is any change, come and find me..........." Elrond told the healer. The ellon nodding, before making his way into the room. The lord looking at the door to the room, one last time, before making his way back to his own quarters. Elrond knowing that he could use every last little bit of elven magic he possessed to help his friend; but if Lindir didn't want to remain..........then there was nothing he could do.

"My lord.........." Elrond looking up to find one of the guards quickly making his way towards him.

"Aisto.....what........?"

"Visitors, my lord. The wizard and two others.........."

"Two others.............?"

"Yes, my lord..........the hobbit, and the female that was with the company of dwarves.............." Elrond's eyes widening at the words.

"The female........you are sure............?" The lord giving Aisto the chance to do nothing but nod, before he was making his way to meet his visitors.

                                                  >>--------------------------------------<<

(Y/n) looked up at the staircase that Lindir had walked down that day she and the rest of the Company had arrived in Rivendell; the princess not hearing the huffs and grumbles of the dwarves, as she had watched the tall, elegant and beautiful ellon talk to the wizard. Her heart beating a little quicker, as his eyes caught hers. A smile coming to her lips, as she was sure that she had caught a glimpse of colour kiss the top of his ears. Yet this time, there was no Lindir. One of the elves that had greeted them, informing them to wait, while he went to find Lord Elrond. (Y/n) fighting back the urge to just race off into the elven realm and find the ellon that she so desperately wanted to see. The ache in her heart, not making it any easier for her to just stand there.

"My lord............." (Y/n) turning at the sound of Gandalf's voice. Her heart jumping up into her mouth, as saw the look on Elrond's face. The lord nodding to Gandalf, before coming to stand in front of her.

"We received word from Erebor that the line of Durin had fallen..........."

"It did, my lord. Thorin.......Fili and Kili are gone. The male line of Thrór, the line of Durin is no more............"

"You must go and see Lindir, now.........." The lord continued, before turning his attention to Aisto.

"Take Princess (Y/n) to Lindir's apartments........" He commanded. The guard bowing before turning and making his way through the ivy-covered walkway and further into the House of Elrond, with (Y/n) close behind.

                                                  >>------------------------------------<<

Her heart almost stopped, as the door to the room was opened and she saw a pale, ashen appearing Lindir lying motionless on his bed. A sob wanting to leave her lips as he barely seemed to breath.

"What is the............?" The healer began, only for Aisto to gesture for him to leave the room. (Y/n) unable to shift for a moment, as the door quietly closed behind her. The princess telling herself that whatever had happened to him, she must be strong. She must do all she could to help. That whatever it took, she would not lose the ellon that she loved, as she had lost her family. Her feet finally agreeing to move, taking her to the side of Lindir's bed. (Y/n) carefully taking a seat on the white linens, and hesitantly reaching out to touch the ellon's pale skin.

"Lindir.........oh Lindir.........you can't leave me, please. I have already lost so many I that I loved, I cannot lose you, too. I survived goblins, fire, flying on eagles, and a man that can become a giant bear; a smug elvenking's dungeons, racing down rapids in a barrel, a dragon, Thorin losing his mind to dragon sickness and a damn battle to get back to you......and if you die now.........I will never forgive you. So, you better wake up......you better wake up and tell me that you have the same feelings for me, as I do for you......that you love me. For there is nothing and no one left in this world for me, if you leave it. And no place I would rather be, than by your side............" (Y/n) carefully taking his face in her hands. The half-dwarven lady offering a quite prayer to Mahal, to the Valar, swearing to give them anything they desired, as long as they would bring Lindir back to her; before she slowly leaned down and placed her lips to his.
