The Ranger's daughter - Part 2 - Aragorn x Reader
Everything in italics is Sindarin. And happy Thanksgiving weekend, to all my American readers. 🦃
Elladan couldn't help but laugh, as he watched (Y/n) block Elorhir's sword, and then kick his legs out from under him. Elladan getting to his feet and clapping for their young protégé, as his twin looked up from the floor, a big smile on his lips.
Since Estel had brought his little foundling to Imladris and asked their father to take care of her, the whole family had come to see (Y/n) as another one of their own. The twins seeing the exquisitely beautiful elleth, as another sister. The tiny bundle that the Ranger had placed in Elrond's arms, quickly becoming the darling of the realm, as she had grown and become more inquisitive. (Y/n) learning how to fight from her big brothers, being taught the lute by Lindir, and spending hour upon hour listening to a certain grey wizard and the ellon that she saw as a second father. The two wise beings teaching her anything she wanted to know, be it the history of Middle-earth, magic or the skill of healing. All knowing that if they wished to find her, all they would have to do was take the short work to the training area, or the great library. Yet no matter what, and even though she was not Estel's real child, she was most definitely his daughter. For just like him, she had the keenest of eyes; eyes that never seemed to miss anything that went on in the elven realm. And she possessed a wisdom that was far beyond her years; a wisdom that gave her the same air the same indomitable spirit, loyalty and kindness that people were drawn to, and wished to follow. That, and an exceptional ability to question authority.
"Wonderful......." Elladan called out, as (Y/n) helped Elrohir from the floor. The younger twin taking the elleth in his arms and kissing her atop the head.
"It would appear that the student has surpassed at least one of her masters......" Elladan continued, chuckling as his brother looked to him.
"No, I don't think I will ever be as good as either of you. I just think Elrohir let me win........"
"Oh, believe me he didn't, (Y/n). He's just not as good as he thinks he his........." Elrohir huffing at his brother's latest jibe, before turning his attention back to the young elleth.
"You are far better then you believe, and I certainly didn't let you win. You are still only young and with each passing day you get better. So, I can only imagine how formidable you will be, when you are truly grown. But........." Elrohir looking to Elladan, who nodded his head and made his way over to retrieve something that had been hiding behind a tree. (Y/n) looking between the two brothers, as Elladan placed the bundle on the floor in front of her.
"Elrohir.......Elladan.....what..........?"
"But you cannot be formidable, unless you have the best of weapons........" Elrohir continued, pointing to the bundle.
"Happy birthday, little sister.........." (Y/n) looking to the twins as they spoke in unison.
"Well.......open it........" The Ranger's daughter nodding and dropping to her knees. Her fingers carefully pulling at the material. A tear coming to her eyes as she saw the beautiful sword, bow and quiver of arrows that had been concealed. The elleth quickly jumping to her feet and kissing the twins, before taking the shimmering sword, that had been crafted by the most gifted elven smiths and etched with elven magic and holding it to the light. Sure, that she had never received a greater gift; well, that was until she heard a familiar whistle. The elleth calling out one word, as she ran to the man that she had been praying to the Valar, would arrive in time.....
"Ada..............."
>>----------------------------------<<
Estel made his way through the elven city, nodding at the passing elves, as he walked towards the training area. He had to admit that he felt guilty; for even though he knew that (Y/n) was loved, not only by Lord Elrond and his family, but by all the others that called Imladris, home; she was still his daughter, and he had not spent nearly enough time with her. His guilt only growing when she would tell him that she understood why he could not be with her, all the time; why he would have to leave. Yet despite everything, the love that she had for him, never diminished; the Ranger stopping and moving into the shadows as he arrived at the training area and watched as (Y/n) fought with Elrohir; pride filling him as he saw her block the ellon's sword, before sweeping his feet from under him.
She had grown so much since he had last seen her, and it was obvious that her skills had also grown. Estel smiling as Elladan clapped and made his way over to his twin and the elleth that the two sons of Elrond, treated as a sister. A part of the Ranger had hoped that the girl he had saved, would follow after Arwen and be a lady that was more a beacon of hope for their people, rather than a warrior; but it was not to be. Elrond telling him that she was becoming more and more like him with every passing day; that her way was with the sword and bow. And that there would come a day, when he would leave Imladris, and she would be by his side. Estel having the strangest feeling that that moment was coming far sooner than he thought it might. The Ranger shaking the notion from his mind to see Elrohir and Elladan presenting (Y/n) with something for her birthday; watching as his daughter moved away the pale cloth to see the weapons it had concealed. His heart picking up a pace, as (Y/n) kissed the brothers, before raising the sword she had been gifted. The son of Arathorn pushing himself out from the shadows, as a familiar whistle left his lips. His heart beating quicker as his daughter turned and saw him; calling out one word as she ran towards him......
"Ada............."
