Little mouse - Part 8 - Company x Reader

I thought for this part; I would skip forward a little and have a certain Company crash the cottage.

(Y/n) made her way through to the kitchen of the cottage that was now her home. Much time had passed since she and Beorn had confessed their love for one another; much time since the skin changer had made his way to her father's old home to retrieve the rest of her belongings. Neither he, nor (Y/n) wanting her to be anywhere other than with him. Their relationship continuing to blossom, until now, he called his little mouse, his wife; and before long, Beorn would no longer be the last of his kind. (Y/n) carrying the Beornling's child; the pair expecting their little bear to join them in the world, any time soon. The huntsman's daughter coming to rest in the large, comfortable chair that Beorn had made her. Her eyes slowly closing as the warmth of the oven lulled her to sleep.

                                                     >>----------------------------------<<

(Y/n) suddenly sat bolt upright, as she heard the not only the sound of Beorn roaring and snarling, but also of other voices. She quickly moving to hide, not sure who would be foolish to barge their way into their home; but she wasn't about to take any chances. For even though she could wield a rather menacing rolling pin, she was not about to take any chances........not in her condition. Her eyes growing wide as she peaked out, and watched as a number of small men did their best to barricade the door against her big bear. She presuming, from what Beorn had described, that they must be dwarves; she knowing quite well that her husband had little love for those that dwelled under the ground, and this might not end well. (Y/n) reaching for not only the rolling pin, but also the poker as she readied herself to try and get the unwanted visitors, out of her home.

                                                        >>----------------------------------<<

The Company forced their way inside the cottage; doing their best to close the huge ingress as the snout of the bear, snapped at them. A smile coming to Gandalf's lips, as he saw the beast, before the dwarves finally managed to shut the large wooden doors.

"What was that...........?" Ori asked, as he looked to the grey wizard.

"That is our hosts. His name is Beorn; and he is a skin changer......." The wizard explained to the Company.

"Sometimes he is a huge black bear, sometimes he is a great strong man. The bear is unpredictable; but the man can be reasoned with." Gandalf continued, as he made his way further into the large home. He not seeing the wide-eyed little lady that was armed, in the shadows of the large cottage.

"However, he is not overly fond of dwarves............"

"It's just sitting there........." Bofur called out, as he looked nervously out of a window and saw the beast glaring at the door.

"It's not natural, none of it. It's obvious, he is under some dark spell......." The oldest of the Ri siblings said. Yet before Gandalf could say anything..............

"How dare you talk about my Beorn like that......get out of my home, or you will all regret it......." The Company all turning to see a rather angry looking woman armed with a rolling pin and poker, suddenly appear. The brows of the wizard raising as he took her in. She was certainly no skin changer, appearing definitely more human than anything, though she was only about a head taller than the likes of Thorin and Dwalin; yet out of everything, it was the large, rounded belly that he couldn't help but notice.

"Please my dear.............do not distress yourself. We mean you no harm............." The wizard finally replied, as he took off his hat and gave her his sweetest smile. Her eyes widening as another noise filled the clearing that surrounded the cottage.

"Orcs.........." The woman interrupted, dropping her makeshift weapons, and as quickly as she could, made her way to another window; watching as the bear suddenly got up and ran back through the garden.

"Did you bring those foul beasts here.......? Well, if you did, you can go and deal with them yourselves instead of putting my husband in danger. I will not have Beorn harmed because of you........." The little lady stomping over to the door before doing her best to push up the heavy wooden lock. A sudden pain making her stop and gasp, then drop to the floor. Her hand reaching for her large stomach.

"Are........are you alright, miss..........?" An even smaller man asked, as he came to stand in front of her. She not sure what he was, but he was no dwarf; he not hairy enough for one thing.......though his feet most certainly were. Yet his rather sweet face, that gave her an apologetic smile as he tentatively took her hand, was far less scary than some of those that were currently looking at her.

"It........its the babe......they are due any day.........." Her reply causing quite a commotion between the dwarves. The tall man dressed in grey, pushing his way through the group.

"Please, my dear, let us help you.........." A number of the dwarves coming forward and carefully assisting her up from the floor.

"I am Gandalf.......Gandalf the Grey........myself and my companions are travelling to.............."

"Erebor.......... That is the only place you can be going. There is nothing else here for dwarves other than the Mountain. The Elvenking dislikes dwarves more than Beorn, and the Master of Laketown doesn't like outsider, from what I hear..............." She interrupted. Wincing again as another pain made her want to cry out.

"Indeed.........." Gandalf smiled, as he directed the dwarves to sit her down in some of the fresh hay.

"You have our apologies for our invasion of your delightful home, but the orcs are hunting for us. We came in hopes of being able to speak to your husband.......to ask for his aid. As I said, we mean you no harm. All we ask is to be able to remain in the safety of the cottage for the night.........." The wizard continued, as he ushered the dwarves back so that they were not crowding her. Sure, that the gruff expressions of the likes of Dwalin were not endearing the Company to the heavily pregnant young woman. All the males present, jumping, as without warning she let out a loud, pained cry. The pale colour of her skirt suddenly growing darker.......

"Its coming.....the, the baby......its coming............"
