The Worthless Daughter

For eons Saara wandered in sadness, her lonely exile, although self-imposed, was painful. She wished to be helpful but had none of her sisters' skill. It was during this time, that Teajgna found her and came to her side.

"Eons have passed whilst I have sought you. I have travelled far and wide to seek you out and apologise."

Teajgna explained that she felt somewhat responsible for the episode with Tayra, for had she not come down to greet them, she would not have blown dirt in to their mother's wounds. Saara was comforted by this and warmed, but Teajgna's apology was the prelude to a sterner conversation.

Teajgna, with some great softness, asked her closest sister why she so often wept. Saara replied that she did so in sorrow of her mother's pain and questioned her elder sibling as too why she did not. Teajgna replied thus.

"To weep for our mother's pain will help little. We must show strength and not fear if we are to give aid, to this end, do not be weak, for it will hinder her."

These ill-timed words were sharp and Saara felt then keenly with an agonizing pang to her heart, but she stood tall and with dignity turned to her sister and spoke these words.

"If I weep it is because I am sad. I am not strong, nor am I of any help. I have nothing that will make things right, for I am of the soil and I am soft and unstable, I am weak and I crumble at your touch. I have no use but to discolour the water and dirty the stone. I hinder my mother in many ways, but to weep for her pain? is not one."

Teajgna bowed her head, for she could see that her sister was low and knew now the insensitivity of her words. Above all else she saw that her sister was right and thus, wise and so, Teajgna, for the second time apologized to Saara.
