The once vacant, colossal room was at this very moment filled with bustling wealthy individuals, each wearing elegant and costly dresses, smiles etched on their faces. Echoes of laughter along with the felicitous music filled the halls. Tapestries concealed the ivory walls along with chandeliers, everything was magnificent. The beauty of the room managed to leave her breathless.
Every step she took echoed against the surface of the floor beneath, she was in a flutter at the sight of the lavish room and affluent beings that stood there. She fidgeted with a piece of her dress, nervous, as she felt all eyes on her thinking to themselves how outlandish this girl appeared to be.
"Here she is," Queen Eleanor cooed as she stared at her daughter admiringly. She was meticulously dressed. The dress made Katherine appear more graceful. The neckline embroidered with an intricate pattern and the long beautiful skirt embellished with sequins and beads, her long midnight black hair in a plait, a few strands left out to frame her slender face.
She looked at the tall, muscular man standing in front of her, his shaggy hair slightly lighter than Katherine's and piercing brown eyes that gazed back at her. Her brother.
"Your Majesty," she said and curtsied, her voice implying she was uptight. "How delightful it is to be graced by your presence and finally see you, Katherine," he exclaimed, his voice deep. He seemed polite and unaware of Katherine's past doings. She, however, would not be fooled by his appearance for she knew how deceptive appearances could be. She smiled, not knowing how to respond.
She furrowed her brows at the Kings chaotic expression, he leaned against the wall, breathing heavily. "Your Majesty, are you okay?" She questioned, almost concerned. Queen Eleanor held his hand as he was a little unsteady on his feet. "Don't mention this to anyone Katherine. Just keep it to yourself and act normal." She instructed before taking him to his bedchambers.
"Your Highness," she heard a husky voice call. She turned around to see penetrating bright green eyes, a-gleam with mirth. He had dark coiffed hair, chiseled cheekbones, and jawline. To say that he was handsome would be an understatement. He smirked and she lowered her eyes. "Katherine," she corrected, looking back into his greenish-blue eyes that a-glittered like a light that glinted through the depths of the sea, full of secret.
"Would you like to dance?" there was something rather intimidating about him that made her heart race.
"I am flattered by your offer but I'm afraid I must leave," he looked like he was taken aback. He nodded and curtsied before leaving and it filled her with regret.
