The Missings (4)

Samay, Chirag, Maira and Maan were sitting inside a white room which Chirag had previously mistaken as one of the bedroom. The room had one chandelier hanging over a huge circular table that was made of wood. The table was surrounded by eight chairs. All the furnitures as well as the chandelier were collecting dust as if the room has not been in use for a long time. The room was otherwise empty. There was nothing other than these few things.

After Samay cleaned the room, the three detectives sat down on the chairs followed by Samay. They spread out each photo of the missing girls on the table. Samay looked at the photos. These girls looked so young. Samay took a deep breath before hesitantly reaching out to the photo of the girl who went missing first. As soon as he touched the photo, he gasped.

A girl was sitting hunched in a corner of some dirty, dimly lit room. Her forehead was scarred in a shape of 'S'. It looked as if someone had burnt her. Her clothes were dirty and tattered making her hands and legs visible as well. Her hands and legs also had been burnt by cigarettes maybe, judging by the looks of the burns. A big chunk of hair was missing from her head as if someone had torn them out. A big gash which looked recent, ran down from her right cheek to her neck. Her body was covered in whip marks. Her lips were chapped and torn as if someone had been biting them. She was trembling with fear. All of a sudden, the door opened and a figure wearing all black entered the room. The girl flinched when she saw the figure approaching her, both of their hands hidden behind their back. Their face was covered with a mask which had six eyes. The person approached the girl slowly causing her to try and back away to put some distance between herself and her tormentor. But she could not do so as she was already in the corner of the room. The person sat down in front of her and brought out their right hand from behind to gently stroke her cheek before revealing their left hand that held a knife. The girl's eyes widened in fear. The person leaned forward before they stabbed the girl's thigh with full force.

A pained scream pierced through the air causing Chirag, Maan and Maira to startle. They looked towards Samay who was screaming as if he was in pain. Before anyone could do anything, a figure came running towards them, snatching away the picture Samay was holding and threw it away before taking Samay in their arms trying to comfort him.

Samay, on the other hand, was in a lot of pain. The pain of the burns as well as the stabbing was too much for him. He was not aware of his surroundings for the moment. After a while, the pain subsided. He was panting as he opened his eyes, he did not remember closing them in the first place. He took in his surroundings and found himself sitting in the sofa in living room. When did they move to the living room?

"Samay. Samay?," a concerned voice called.

Samay looked towards the source of the voice and found himself staring at the worried face of his best friend Tarun.

"Tarun?" Samay said.

"Are you ok?," Tarun asked.

Samay nodded saying, "Yes, I, I am fine."

Once Tarun made sure his friend was indeed fine, he turned to glare at Chirag who looked confused, and Maira and Maan who looked horrified.

"Why are you here?," asked Tarun angrily causing Maan and Maira to flinch.

"W-We needed Samay's help on a case," Maan answered.

Tarun looked at them in disbelief. He stood up, about to murder these selfish assholes but he was stopped by Samay.

"Tarun, stop. It was not their fault. I agreed to help them," Samay said.

Tarun looked at Samay disapprovingly. He once again glared at the trio that were standing in front of him before sitting down beside Samay.

Samay gave a tight lipped smile to Tarun before looking at the detectives. Maan and Maira were horrified while Chirag was frowning in confusion.

"The first girl who went missing, is alive. I don't know about the other girls. The person holding her captive was wearing a  mask with six eyes. And I am pretty sure they are left-handed. They were torturing her quite brutally. That's all I got. I am sorry I can't be of any other help," Samay said.

"Please don't apologize, Samay. It's us who should apologize. We are sorry," Maira said.

"Yes, Samay. We are really sorry," Maan said.

Tarun had had enough. He stood up once again before saying, "Leave," pointing towards the door.

Chirag nodded and left followed by Maira and Maan. Once outside, Chirag turned around to look at his friends and asked in a stern voice, "What was all that about?"

Maan and Maira looked confused as well as horrified.

"We don't know," they answered in unison.

Chirag nodded before walking back to their car, his friends following closely behind. They got inside the car and drove off. Chirag made a mental note to keep an eye on this Samay guy.
