Chapter 2
Her eyes were gassy and she had gone completely pale. I looked around to see everyone either staring or covering the eyes of younger children. All around me I can hear whispers. "It was like magic," Elaine claimed, " I was helping her get grass out of her hair. All of a sudden, she went completely pale. She started to float and that's when the blood started to drip."
People were starting to panic. Mothers held their children close. The mayor himself was trembling as he made his way to the center of the crowd. "Everyone needs to go home," he announced, "Stay safe and don't leave until morning. I will have to speak with the town council to figure out what happened. There will be a town meeting at nine sharp. It is absolutely mandatory for you all to be there."
The crowd dispersed, everyone heading home with friends and family. I saw some officers bringing Elaine into town hall to tell the town council what happened. I walked behind my mother as we walked home with Cameron's family. Cameron and I had lived across the street from each other our entire lives. "Cameron, I'm scared," I said, holding onto his arm.
He pulled me into a tight hug. "I know, but everything is going to be OK, I promise," he said softly.
When we finally got to our street, we parted and went to our houses. My mom went straight to her room when we got home. I went up to my room to grab a towel before going to the bathroom. I stripped before stepping into the tub to take a warm bath. Once I was done, I wrapped the towel around my body before heading back towards my room. I dressed in some fuzzy pajamas before climbing into bed and falling into a dreamless sleep.
I woke up to the floor creaking. It was still dark out and everything else was completely silent. I hid under my sheets as my door was opened. My hands were trembling and my breath was shaky. I tried to calm myself down, which only resulted in me making more noise. I almost stopped breathing as my blanket was ripped off of me. I closed my eyes, hoping that it was all a dream. "I know that you're awake," the person said, their voice deeper than any that I've ever heard from a person.
I slowly opened my eyes and rolled off the side of my bed. I landed with a thud before standing up. I rushed to my window as he climbed over my bed. I scrambled to unlock it. My heart stopped as he let out an inhuman growl. I finally got unlocked and slid it open. "Oh no baby girl, you're not going anywhere," he said, wrapping their arms around me.
I struggled to get out of their grip as he dragged me out of the house and to black van. I tried to scream for help, but he had put something in my mouth. I could tell what it was almost immediately. It was another arm. I started to panic as he opened the trunk and through me in. The arm slipped from my mouth as I gasped in fear from the sudden movement. I hit my head as I crashed into the wall. "What ARE you?" I asked when I looked up at him
He had eight arms and was taller than any human. He had four eyes that were dark brown with red around the edges. His nails and teeth were noticeably sharper. "Who are you?" I asked, my voice shaking as tears fell down my face.
He smirked as he took my hand in his. "I think you know exactly who I am," he said with a laugh.
I studied his face the best that I could. Then my eyes widened in realization. "Chris James?" I choked out.
