Chapter 12
I know this one is really short but the next one should be longer since it includes the scene where they go through the shipping records.
Eragon's Point of view
I was starting to wonder what was keeping Brom, as far as I knew Brom had gone to buy new clothes for the seven demigods and their companion and then drop them off at their ship. I decided that I would wait a little longer to see if he would return, and then if he didn't I would go find Brom. I waited a while longer and then decided that I would go walk around the city to see if I could find Brom. If he wasn't at any of the shops I would check the demigods' ship to see if for some reason he was still there. If he wasn't there I didn't want to think about what could have happened to Brom if he wasn't in either of these places.
I walked around the city and didn't see any sign of Brom. So, I headed to the ship. The only person that I saw on deck was Gleeson Hedge. I walked over to him and asked him, "Is Brom here?"
He replied, "Yes some unexpected events happened last night, your friend has stayed longer than he had expected to. I will go down and let him know you are here."
When Gleeson Hedge headed below decks I followed him. When we stopped at one of the doors Gleeson said, "Eragon just arrived looking for you."
I heard Brom reply, "alright that will be enough for today."
After Brom spoke I heard the sound of chairs moving away from a table. The first people to exit the room were, Percy and Annabeth, and Brom followed them out.
I was shocked when I saw that Percy and Annabeth had Dragon hatchlings perched on their shoulders. I stuttered, "how- where did you find those dragons?"
Brom answered for them, "Percy and Annabeth found theirs yesterday in the forest, it seems Annabeth's dream was a Premonition."
We all chatted for a while but Brom eventually said that we had to leave since he hadn't given me today's lesson.
Brom's point of view
For the next few days, I taught both Eragon and the demigods first giving Eragon his lessons and then going to the demigods' ship to teach Annabeth and Percy more about dragons, the history of Alegasia and magic. Annabeth always did her best to pay attention, but often caught Percy fiddling with his sword in it's smaller form, which was apparently called a pen, when I was trying to Explain Alegasia's history.
The demigods had explained that they find it hard to sit still and pay attention for any length of time but unfortunately, that made teaching them more difficult. I had all the demigods practice with their weapons once a day and the new riders progressed quickly. Annabeth seemed to be doing well in everything, but Percy found it harder to memorize the Ancient language words, and the history lessons. Meanwhile, the new dragons seemed to be getting bigger every day until they could no longer fit in their rider's beds and were forced to stay in the stables overnight.
Eragon's point of view
On the third day after the demigods had arrived in Alegasia I took Percy and Annabeth to meet Saphira. Saphira flew down and carried me up to her clifftop hiding place since I didn't feel like a repeat of what had happened the last time I tried to climb up. Annabeth and Percy said that they could climb it. I tried to talk them out of it since I had tried the same thing and gotten stuck, but they said they could do it so I didn't argue any further. I watched as they scaled the cliff without much difficulty. They talked to Saphira and she seemed to like Annabeth in particular, and they seemed to get along rather well. I suspected that this was because Annabeth seemed to be one of the leaders of their group, always strategizing and making plans.
I was glad that they all seemed to be getting along since we would be traveling together. When the week came to an end Brom said that I could read well enough to help them go through the records.
