Chapter 8: Quirk
It had been two days since the USJ attack. The students of 1A mourned the deaths of their friends. Tsu was the level headed girl who held the class together. And Mineta, although a little perv, was still their classmate.
Thirteen's death was mourned too, especially by the teachers. She was like Tsu, an all round good teacher and hero, who stopped squabbles and fights between the faculty.
Izuku, although he was only captured, had been presumed dead. Most villains don't take prisoners without reason, and what use would a ragtag group of villains have for a first year hero student?
Kirishima and Uraraka were particularly upset, both being closer to him than the rest of the class.
Kirishima had dubbed him "the manliest man" after Ochako told him what happened.
Uraraka had not slept or eaten in the two days since the incident.
Fortunately for both Kirishima and herself, Izuku was in fact alive.
The target that used to stand at the end of the range was gone. Completely incinerated by the powerful flames.
"Very good young Izuku. If I had to put a number on it, I'd say that was only 10% of your full firepower. Try only 5% on the next target." The masked man said.
"Yes Sensei." Izuku responded.
An All Might shaped target sprang up, and Izuku pointed at it with a single finger, blasting out a torrent of white hot flames.
The target was reduced to ash, rather than being obliterated without a trace.
"Most impressive. That pyrokinesis quirk has taken to you quite well. Perhaps because of your parent's quirks?" The man said.
Izuku nodded.
"Telekinesis and fire breathing Sensei."
The man hummed.
"A perfect fit for you then. You'll be surprised to know that those targets were solid iron." He told Izuku.
Izuku stared at his hand.
"R-really?" He asked.
The man nodded.
"Now, come with me outside. There's another trick is like you to learn, now that you've mastered this aspect of control."
The man led Izuku outside, instructing him to remove his shoes and socks.
"What you will be practicing for the remaining 24 hours you are here is flight. I assume you have seen Endeavour hover? His flames have power, however, your's have much greater volume before you tire out. Try blasting 100% out if the bottom of your feet, and use your hands to stabilise." He instructed.
Izuku attempted it, but the only thing that occured was a large explosion, propelling Izuku high into the sky.
Izuku pushed the flames into a narrow stream, out through his hands and feet.
He slowed his descent, landing almost perfectly next to the man, stumbling slightly.
"Very good. You can stabilise yourself due to the training for fine tuning your control with your hands. The only thing that needs work is the precision with which you release flames through your feet." He told Izuku.
Izuku spent the next few hours practicing with his pyrokinesis, blasting through the air, firing off short bursts of flame at moving targets, and testing his stamina.
"I'm afraid it's time for you to go now Izuku. The heroes would just raid our base anyway, so we are sending you to school instead."
Izuku turned to the man, his hands stinging slightly.
"Very well Sensei. How should I make it look like an escape?" He asked.
The man chuckled.
"Do not worry about that. You just run to school, and 'lose control' of your quirk. I will take care of the rest."
Izuku bowed, before leaving the bar.
Izuku ran up to the gates of UA, sprinting through, his footprints burning into the liquid concrete. Many students leaving the building stared at him.
Izuku's costume was burned, torn and bloody. His arms were scratched and bleeding. His feet were bare, sinking into the molten ground without flinching.
It wasn't long before Aizawa was sprinting through the crowd of students, erasing the rampant flame quirk.
"Midoriya?" He called through the fire.
"Aizawa.." Izuku muttered before collapsing.
Izuku awoke within Recovery girl's office. His arms and legs were bandaged up, and he had a quirk cancelling bracelet on his wrist. He looked around, noticing the clock on the wall.
10:43. He'd been here all night.
Izuku noticed the two students sat next to him in the chairs.
One was the manly redhead Kirishima. He slept with his mouth wide open, sorely tempting Izuku to chuck something into the spiky gap.
The other was.. Uraraka. She snoozed with her face on the wall, her uniform and hair a mess.
Izuku sighed, remembering his last comments to her.
Recovery girl came through the curtain.
"Oh, you're awake sonny!" She said. "How do you feel?"
Uraraka and Kirishima's eyes flew open, the redhead grinning with is shark smile, and the brunette smiling just as wide, once she peeled her face off of the wall.
"Deku!" She said.
"MIDORIYA!!" Kirishima yelled to the ceiling, arms thrown wide.
Izuku smiled at his two almost-friends.
"Good morning. Sorry I overslept, I was a little busy yesterday."
Recovery girl whacked him in the face with her cane.
"Busy dosent cover it boy!!" She scolded. "I'm calling your teacher, you obviously feel fine if you're cracking jokes like that!"
Izuku smiled wider. The others looked at him with concern. Something happened to him.
Once Aizawa and Recovery girl had ushered Kirishima and Uraraka back to class, they sat either side of Izuku, while All Might stood at the end of the bed in his skinny form.
Aizawa stared quizzically at the blonde, who only shrugged.
"What is it you want to know?" Izuku asked.
"Where did you get that quirk?" All Might asked.
Izuku sighed. "The Villain's leader gave it to me. Apparently his quirk lets him take and give quirks at will. The one that was forced on me is called Pyrokinesis. It goes well with my body, as my mother has Telekinesis and my father has fire breathing."
Aizawa seemed dubious, but both Recovery girl and All Might looked terrified. The tired pro noticed the others' expressions.
"There's really a villain like that?" He asked.
"Yes." All Might began. "I fought him many years ago. His name is.. All for One, like the name of his quirk."
Aizawa sighed, turning back to Izuku.
"How did you escape?" He asked.
"I used my quirk. It was stronger in me than they anticipated. I melted the bars of my cell with a touch, escaping through a blown out wall. I ran to UA, losing control about halfway there and burning the roads. I'm sorry about that by the way." He cringed.
"It's fine kid. Last question, why did they give you a quirk?" Aizawa asked.
Izuku shrugged.
"I don't know. I heard that the Nomus are made from forcing multiple quirks onto people. Maybe they started the process with me, but I broke out before they finished?"
Aizawa hummed thoughtfully.
"Well, it's over and done with now. The warehouse that blew up and caught alight was almost bare, but we're sure that the villains were there at some point. If any good came of this, it's that the villains lost a base, we've gotten new information on the leader, and you've been given a quirk." He said.
Izuku nodded.
"Rest up. Recovery girl says you can come back to class tomorrow. We'll test your quirk, and see what you can do with it." Aizawa said.
"All that hero studying will come in useful then, eh young Midoriya!" All Might said.
Izuku nodded again.
*Your time will come All Might. With my own flames, you will die.*
