??? POV

»--------------------------------------•--------------------------------------«

I sighed in frustration as I sat at my desk in my home office, trying to debate on how I should word the next line of the paragraph I was currently writing. I was fairly deep in thought, enough that I didn't even notice the presence of my own eldest child on the other side of the office door, but that was quickly resolved when they came barreling through the doorway, both due to a combination of having had too many sugary snacks to eat throughout the day, as well as having not seen me since I had gotten home from performing my duties as one of the top ranked pro heroes in the country. Needless to say, I was definitely startled when they came through the door so suddenly before tackling me while I was still sitting in my chair, resulting in both of us tumbling down to the ground.

"Oof! You little rascal! How many times have I told you not to do that?" I coughed, out of breath from the brief tumble to the ground.

"But daddy, I was so excited to see you that I just couldn't wait any longer! Plus everyone else got to say hi to you today, so now it's my turn!" The culprit declared proudly in defeat as I chuckled, submitting to my defeat by the hands of my child. Before long, another figure had appeared in the doorway. But this time, the individual that was now standing in the doorway happened to be none other than my best friend and partner for life.

This person means more to me than you could ever know. They've been there for me at some of the worst moments in life, especially during my school days when a myriad of events went down during that time. I was fortunate enough to have met them in my lifetime, and even luckier still to have gotten married to them after everything had finally settled down all those years ago. However, this time was a little bit different, as they stood in the doorway defeated, having been unable to keep our eldest from bursting into my office just moments ago.

"I'm really sorry about them dear, I know you've been working hard on that autobiography of yours, I just wasn't able to contain them enough to keep them from getting into your office before you took a break from writing." My spouse said, sounding just as defeated as they looked when they first arrived at the office, and I chuckled at this, being more than familiar with our child's rambunctious personality.

"Nah, you don't need to apologize for that, it's my fault for not taking a break and coming out sooner to spend time with you guys." I said, sitting up while carefully picking up our child and moving them off of me before getting up fully so that I could fix my chair back into the correct position. My spouse nodded and left moments later after I assured them that I would watch our child since they were already here in my office. Shortly after that, I glanced over at my desk in order to make sure that nothing had fallen off of it during their little attack, noticing that a picture frame had fallen down flat on the surface of the desk. Thankfully since it only fell onto the surface of my desk, no part of it was damaged aside from picking up a bit of dust off of the desk, but that could easily be wiped off later. After a moment of checking the other areas of the frame to make sure that every other part was intact, I propped it back up onto its back stand, and this caught the attention of our child as they peeked over the top of my desk as much as their short stature would allow them to.

"Hey daddy, this picture of you in your hero costume is pretty old, right? Why do you look almost the exact same in the picture as you do now?" They asked while trying to get a better view of the photo, while both me and my spouse both chuckled at their attempts, and I picked up the photo before bringing it down to their level so that they could see it perfectly without having to look over my desk.

"Well little rascal, that's because this picture of me that you see here was taken right before I graduated from U.A. Highschool, that's where I learned to be a strong pro hero!" I boasted proudly. They gasped in amazement as they marveled at the photo depicting me in my pro hero costume. I gave them the framed photo to hold while I checked over the rest of the stuff that was sat atop my desk, making sure that nothing else had fallen over. As I was doing so, my eldest peeked over at the computer that I was currently writing my autobiography on, their eyes gleaming with curiosity as they were attempting to read the work in progress, but to no avail as they were too young to understand some of the words that were written down.

"Ooooh daddy! Can you read me your book? I wanna know what's on it!" Our eldest begged, and I gave into their request, sitting back down in my chair and them following suit, sitting on top of my lap before I turned my computer so that I was able to read what I had written down so far.

The Chronicles of Ryouma Tatsuma

To whomever may be reading this autobiography, hello! My name is Ryouma Tatsuma, but most of the folks that I know tend to call me Ryou. However, you might know me better by my hero name, (REDACTED)*! I'm sure you've been dying to know the backstory of one of Japan's top ranked pro heroes, all the drama and details of what my experience at the number one hero school in the country was like. Well, you've surely come to the perfect place to find out just that, the autobiography documenting those very experiences, written by yours truly! I've written down every single thing that I've gone through that made me into the person I am today, along with the people that I went through all of this with.

First, I'll tell you a little bit about myself before getting into the really good parts of my story. As you already know, my name is Ryou Tatsuma, and I'm the son of Ryuji Tatsuma and Ryuko Tatsuma. You might find these names familiar, and for good reason too, for these two individuals are known as the pro heroes Soulreaver and Ryukyu, respectively. They're an awesome pair of folks, because they're part of what made me into who I am today. If you've seen me in action, whether it be in real time or over a video recording, then you might have noticed that I am rather tall compared to a lot of people, and that's because my height is widely considered by many to be above average for a lot of places in the world, reaching a staggering 190 centimeters (or 6 foot 2 inches for you fellow American folks). Believe it or not, I was already that tall due to a lot of different things, including an excess production of growth hormones as well as a myriad of rigorous training exercises that I undertook throughout my life. But I'm sure you probably don't care about all those boring details, and want to know about the really juicy part: my quirk of course!

My quirk is called Aura Dragon, and the basics of it are exactly what you believe they are. Aura Dragon lets me turn into a monstrously large black dragon that has all sorts of blue marks on it that are reminiscent of the blue marks that you can see on my person today, and have been there since the moment my quirk manifested when I was four years old. My dragon form greatly increases my physical strength, it allows me to fly fast and far with the strong wings that come with it, and I'm able to fire beams of powerful energy, or aura, at whoever I'm aiming at. I am able to fire these beams from anywhere that's close to me. I inherited this half of my quirk from my mother. This brings us to the second half of my quirk, which I inherited from my father. To help you understand it a little better, I'll explain the basics of my father's quirk, which was called Aura Manipulation. Basically, it allowed him to see the incorporeal** manifestation of someone's personality, or their aura. From what he described it as, a person's aura is supposed to look like a field of energy surrounding a person's body completely, but that's not what I see. To me, a person's aura resembles a colorful ball of energy that has a face that reflects the person's personality that floats around in the middle of that person's torso***. Additionally both of us are able to take our own auras and use them to create any non-complicated object we could think of, like a weapon or a tool. This ties into the last bit of the first half of my quirk that I previously mentioned. Additional abilities of my quirk include being able to transform any specific part or parts of my body into their draconic form while gaining the enhancements that the strength of a dragon brings, such as increased running efficiency and speed, being able to create strong and sharp dragon scales that and pierce almost anything they're thrown at, and even combine the two aspects of my quirk, such as creating a weapon out of my aura and infusing my draconic features into it in order to enhance the strength of said weapon even further. Now that that's out of the way, let me take you back to where it all began, starting on the day that I turned four years old...

*The reason that I put in the (REDACTED) bit is because I know that if I put down a hero name then I'm going to forget what I put down here and when the time comes for the heroes in training to pick out their hero names, I'll have forgotten about the one that I wrote here and put down something completely different. That way I'll have more time to actually come up with a hero name that I like by the time I make it around to that part. (◑_◑)

**Incorporeal - From Google: Not composed of matter; having no physical/material existence.
