Chapter 21 Sneak Peak (Do not vote)

Hey guys Mukuro7 here and it's been a long time.

Would have started this chapter quite long ago, but I had quite a lot going on in my life in the past half year. Even now I'm still figuring things out. So I figured once I got to a certain point I'd release a sneak peak. Ideally I would have wished to finish this chapter before April 7th before the Vigilantes anime is released...still pretty damn happy about that. But at this point I can only get it out when I can.

Hope you all enjoy what I have so far and if you have any suggestions on what to improve or for the story let me know.

Anyway, onto the story.

(Sneak Peak Start)

(Shigaraki POV - ??? - Early Morning - Next Day)

"And you are already draining Kurogiri's inventory." I said, looking at Kokuyōsenki as she downed another shot of whiskey.

"I won't be a glorifed blood bag for the parasite for a bit. Going to enjoy it while I can." She said, getting Shiragami to growl.

Kurogiri just shook his head as he reached for a bottle on the shelf.

Not sure whatever changes have affected her stats aside from it getting more difficult to get drunk.

Sensei's doctor seems to have at least found a way to slow the progress of the changes since the last quest. At least. The transfusions have been canceled for the next few days to refine Ptoject Kodoku. And Sensei said that he was going to step out for a bit.

He has barely left his dwellings to tend to something for the past 2 years, last time he did was to clean up the mess Number 6 left with his death. Usually regulating me to quests and tutorials for me to gain experience or to teach me.

All I know is that Sensei described it as a material retrieval.

No doubt to farm for new subjects and experience points, with Shiragami's arrival Sensei has been seemingly more willing to get his hands dirty lately.

I couldn't care less, today is a day I get to game. Won't have much chances to do so after the upcoming boss raid.

Well almost, Sensei did said Kurogiri had t9 inform me of something latter.

But it can wait, it's been a while since I could unwind and game all day.

(3rd POV - Raisaru Parking Garage - Yokohama - An hour later)

The roar of a crowd started to form from the upper levels, as multiple figures started to walk towards the various rings set up on the floors.

All wearing a wide verity of uniforms ranging from plain street clothes and sportswear to elaborate outfits that wouldn't look out of place in a stage performance to actually body armor. They all came in a manner of shapes and sizes, some had weapons or features of their Quirks proudly on display.

But what the fighters and audience all had in common was all of their faces were hidden by some form of mask.

Up in a hidden booth multiple monitors were displayed, some security and some were checking on the betting stats.

"Alright, Ryota what is the status of our sound technicians." A tan haired man in a suit yelled, turning his chair to someone on the monitors.

"So far so good, their Quirks are working overtime to keep the illusion up. But we can't keep this up all day Matsuura." Ryota said, getting Matsuura to sigh.

Thankfully they were supposed to keep this going up by lunch time. Anyone who stumbled about this garage would think that it was under repair. Those who intentionally snooped...well the boss said he would make them disappear after the fighting was over.

Matsuura was just going to collect his pay and move onto the next location as soon as the fighting was over. Would take about another hour for the remaining bets or personal to clear up the evidence, but if the police came by then he wouldn't care.

"Alright if they have any demands push them through to me, the boss would be displeased to know whatever happened. Keep your ears out on the broadcasts, if there is even a hint of police chatter about this location they are the first to bail!" He snapped, his voice tampering at the end. Briefly coughing into his hand as everyone got to work. "And report to me anyone making a fuss about bets, if it gets physical throw them into the basement."

It was tricky enough to find people with the competence to properly use silencing and sound manipulation Quirk. Not the Quirks themselves.

Anything happened to them and Matsuura knew his Distorted Echo Quirk and head would be the collateral.

"A decent idea, I'll sort out what to do with them after the event." Matsuura's earpeice went off and the man paled at his boss's voice. "I suggest you give the crowd what they want."

"I was just about to start boss." Matsuura said, trying to keep his panic in check. "They are going to enjoy this."

"Oh they will. If I'm entertained enough, I'll indulged your little request." The Boss said, getting Matsuura to blink. "Of course I don't expect a repeat performance in the future, but this your only chance to make an impression like your predecessor."

"And I'll live up to it." Matsuura said, gulping as he knew the price of failing the boss his words would be literal.

"Do not disappoint." He said before the comms went silent.

Matsuura only sighed as he prepped his mic, kicking up from his chair and reaching into his pocket.

Literally do or die time for him, better give it his all.

(Second Floor rings - Two minutes later)

Multiple fighters gathered around the rings before the sound of speakers crackled with static and the lights died down.

Spectators and fighters alike looked around before the lights shone down on a figure in the middle of the ring. Multiple monitors flashing across the floors with his grinning face.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I thank for all of your patience but the matches are about to begin!" Matsuura shouted out, a black domino mask covering his face with a fang like pattern running around the edges.

His voice sounding distorted and Quirk increasing the projection being carried out by the speakers.

Not that it did little to drown out the noise of the audience who started to cheer with some booing.

"Now I know some of you have been waiting over a decade for this event to return! Let's hear your excitement to be back!" He shouted, pointing his mic to the crowd.

Receive it some cheers or growls from the audience and fighters.

"Good, good. But it could be louder!" Matsuura shouted, throwing his arms out to the audience. "Let them know how hungry for blood and money you truly are!"

This time he got a louder and much more eager response in kind, grinning and laughing all the way.

"Yes that's what I'm talking about, there is no need to hide it for this morning! For here you can indulge in your bloodlust and money as you please, for the only rule in the ring and seating is to keep a mask on! Anything else is allowed! Quirks, weapons, fists, as long as you can continue fighting there is nothing to hold you back! Nobody cares, because we are nobody! A no mans land where anything is possible!" Matsuura shouted before throwing a hand into the air. "Welcome to the Underground Masquerade!"

The crowd roared in agreement and among the fighters, one of them smirked under his mask.

A little too much like that teacher from U.A. for his tastes, but All for One supposed the effort would suffice. The crowd was certainly eating it up.

A decent mouthpiece to the Demon King if this Underground Masquerade went smoothly.

(Izuku POV - Middle of the Road - Just Outside Tokyo - An hour later)

Ever since I woke up this morning I could hardly contain my excitement, Erika not so much. The cold snap had hit this morning and she immediately went back to sleep before the car started.

Not before wrapping my her vines around my arms, the back seat, and trunk...I don't have it in me to try and pry them off.

T-Took me quite a bit to get used to her using my shoulder as a pillow however...mom looked amused and All Might took some pictures.

Other than that Erika has barely stirred at all minus one of vines nuzzling against me every now and again or adjusting her blanket as a makeshift blanket. I had tried to gently nudge her awake a few times as we got closer to Tokyo, but to no success.

Besides that All Might has told me the names of those employees from his agency that would be participating at the food drive, him making a few calls on the drive as some made last minute decisions to attend.

Aside from that, he and mom would sometimes talk about sights and locations we passed on the drive so far. Usually places All Might has helped people with.

Some of which I actually didn't know about or heard about.

Helping people cross the street around areas we passed, cleaning up litter in some of the side streets around here, getting a dog down that a cat chased up a tree, or just stopping to help others in between stoping crimes or going from his agency and back.

At the roots originally being a hero meant doing volunteer services even if others find it boring.

I can still remember his words from the first day of training clearly.

At least Mom and All Might seemed to enjoy talking about them.

I was broken from my thought as the car made a hard turn to the side, pushing me against the door and All Might coughing up some blood as he looked out ahead in surprise.

What was going on?

Glancing out the window I saw an orange car speeding down the roadway, other drivers swerving away to avoid getting hit. Police sirens sounding off in the background like they were getting closer.

"Just great, sadly there is usually someone like that in the mornings." All Might sighed out as he wiped his mouth before facing mom. "Inko could you-"

"Looks like someone has beaten you to it." Mom said, before looking back at me with a smile. "Izuku, you better hurry and look out the window before it's too late.

Briefly I wondered what she could be talking about before it clicked in my head. Hurriedly taking out my notebook and pencil.

There were a number of heros who primarily operated in the various municipalities and wards of Tokyo that I could think of the top of my head with the correct movement based Quirks for a situation like this. Few that could possibly react this fast unless they were already on the scene. And I could figure out one of two currently active around Tokyo from the news this morning.

Barely had a split second to register a pale silver blur rush past mom's car and into traffic, smiling and writing in my notebook.

Exactly as I thought, the Turbo Hero: Ingenium!

I heard that there had been more sightings of him all over Honshū since the prison transport breakout a few days back. The prisoner behind the string of break ins, Yobayakawa had been one Ingenium and his agency had arrested him twice before.

This is the first time I've even caught a glimpse of him in real life before, but I would recognize his hero suit anywhere.

A pair of police cars raced behind him, wincing a little from how loud the sirens were blaring.

"You okay Young Midoriya?" All Might asked as I closed my notebook, rubbing my ears.

"F-Fine, just the sirens bothering my ears a little. It's clearing up now.." I said, getting him to nod.

My sense of hearing may not have been affected by the changes nearly as much as smell and vision, didn't make it any less troublesome to get used to.

Putting away my notebook I noticed that mom started to turn the car around and switch lanes away from the scene ahead. She continued to drive for a minute before pulling into a nearby gas station.

"Was going to stop later, better to stretch and wait for things to clear up ahead." Mom said as she parked the car and stretched her arms. "Izuku do you need any help trying to wake Erika up?"

"No, I've got it." I said, reaching my free hand behind my back.

Mom and All Might looked back at me as I pressed my thumb underneath my spins, grabbing the end Erika's vine as sparks filled my vision. Panting a little as I felt the vines around me start to lax a little, the part I grabbed turning a brackish color as it made a light snap before nuzzling against my arm.

I-I'm think that I'm starting to get a little to used to causing a discharge...

Seems like it worked though.

"That is one way I suppose." All Might said as the vines started to retract into Erika's arms and back, some breaking down into spores.

Erika let out a groan as the vines and spores returned to her. Sitting up and stretching her arms.

"Good morning Erika." I said as she let out a yawn.

"Morning." Erika groaned out at she rubbed her eyes. "Are we in Tokyo yet..."

"We're just outside of it. Stopping to stretch and get some gas. How are you feeling Erika?" Mom asked as she and All Might started to get out of the car.

"Tired...could barely get any sunlight..." Erika said as a vine emerged from her back and began to put on her jacket.

"Figured as much, it's been overcast since sunrise. Why don't you and Izuku head into the station and get some water and something to eat. Plus it should be warmer in there too." Mom said with a smile as Erika nodded drowsy.

"You don't want anything mom?" I asked, getting her to shake her head as she exited the car. "Are you okay Erika?"

"I'm fine, the cold is making it a little difficult to stay awake but I'll manage." Erika said, looking away from me and letting out a small growl. "And thank you for the electricity Izuku...it was good."

My eyes widened as she hurriedly got out of the car, staring at where she had just been until I felt my spines twitch and my barrier reset.

...I-I honestly don't know how to respond to that.

E-Either embarrassment or happiness, I don't know which to feel right now...

(3rd POV - Inside the Gas Station - 5 minutes later)

Erika browsed the shelves before grabbing a few bottles of water before making her way further down the store and away from Izuku. She still couldn't look him in the eyes and was silently cursing this new body of hers.

Before her death she was never really a fan of the cold. Having her soul bound to a rose bush and mutated into a Kaiju didn't change that either.

At least in spore form she couldn't feel it.

Right now she was still a little tired and needed both a winter sweater and her jacket buttoned up to feel warm.

It was going to be a struggle to stay awake in the car again...perhaps talking with Izuku would help keep her awake. He was curious about how Tokyo was like in her era...when parts of it weren't being flattened by Kaiju every other year.

Thinking about Izuku again made her let out a soft growl before shaking her head.

Why did she had to say that while half asleep!

Photosynthesis was practically second nature to her, Erika wasn't too keen on her new electrical absorption abilities.

Aside from coming from that damned Ghidorah, experimenting with absorbing electricity has literally left a bland taste in her mouth. Best she would compare it to was consuming only a few grains of rice at a time before the electricity was stored in her body.

Didn't help she had to actively reign in her instincts to keep feeding off it.

And Erika wasn't sure if it was the properties of his barrier and bio electricity, just that it was from Izuku himself, or yet another factor of her body that made it taste pretty sweet to her.

Kind of tasted like baklava, with a hint of extra cinnamon.

She was thankful Izuku shorted himself out waking her up.

Erika banished those thoughts before she spotted Izuku across the station. He smiled at her a little, his face looked a little red before walking off.

Well at least he wasn't as flustered as before.

Erika just shook her head with a smile and started to walk off before feeling someone bump into her.

Holding back a growl she turned to see a stiff look teen with short dark blue and glasses. He wore dark pants and a pale silver jacket that was partly opened up to reveal a dark cyan sweater.

"My apologies, I should have double checked before backing up." He said, one of his arms moving somewhat mechanically and holding a large bottle of what she guessed to be orange juice in the other.

"It's fine." Erika said with a shrug before his eyes widened in surprise.

"Midoriya?" He said, getting her on edge before looking down the other end of the aisle to see Izuku looking equally as shocked.

"Ida?" He said, the both of them looking confused.

Wait, didn't Izuku say he meant someone with that surname at the entrance exams?

(Sneak Peak End)
