Ch13: Adjustment Period
(3rd POV - Berusabisu Juvenile Detention Center - 2 weeks later)
"Why does Hayashi get to be stationed in the camera room?!" A heavy set guard with brown hair protested.
"There is nothing to it Miura, you just got the short end of the guard shift." A guard with longer blue hair, with a ring of small horns poking out the top of it.
"I would agree with you Sakaki if he hadn't been assigned to that exact same position for three weeks in a row! He opens his mouth just once about it being cold outside and I just say one word about his lazy ass. And now I am stuck out here taking his patrol routes while he sits in the client controlled camera room!" Miura ranted out, his skin turning redder and redder until Sakaki handed him a water bottle. "Thank you."
"You need to watch your temper, don't want you to overheat yourself again. But you probably shouldn't mouth yourself off to the brass. Especially with his older brother working in HR." Sakaki said as Miura's skin tone started to return to normal.
"Than what do you suggest smart guy?" Miura asked, getting his partner to shake his head.
"Wait for him to screw up. If Hayashi is as lazy as you say it is than it is only a matter of time until he screws up. Besides nepotism or not he is already on thin ice with that incident with the former Chief Guard and the coffee mug two months ago." Sakaki said, getting his partner to wince.
"He might have been an absolute asshole, but no man deserved that happening to them." Miura said with a shudder before grinning. "Your right, bet you ¥500 that Hayashi is currently sleeping on the job."
"Focus less on him and more on doing your job for now. I would prefer it would be his head than ours for not doing our job probably." Sakaki said, getting Miura to shake his head.
"Which should be easy despite how cold it is, none of those brats would dare..." He was say as the two guards turned a corner and paused at what they saw.
"It hurts! It hurts!"
"Shut up, you'll fit just keep pushing."
"I knew that we should have used the coconut oil."
They saw three boys in their teens, all three in their inmate uniforms. Two of them were pushing/pulling a large teen through a square shaped hole that had been cut in the fence with little luck, one of them already on the other side.
"Don't move!" Sakaki ordered, getting the three boys to freeze as they noticed the two guards before the alarms sounded off.
"Every man for himself!" The teen on the other side said as his legs doubled in length, knees bending back before running off.
"Dang it..." The large teen said as he and the other boy raised their hands in surrender.
"What the hell is going on here." Miura said as Sakaki detained the unstuck teen before his P25 went off.
"Sakaki, Miura what is your status?" The voice over the radio said before Sasaki handed it to Miura.
"This is Miura, we are at the northwest corner perimeter fence of the facility. We have found three of the inmates trying to escape. Sasaki is currently detaining one while another is stuck in a hole cut in the fence. The third one is running away." Miura said, getting the voice on the other end to sigh. "Just what is going on Chief?"
"A major screw up and a timely opportunity. Hayashi fell asleep in the camera room for god's sake!" The chief said, getting both Sakaki and Miura to look at each other incredulously. "Thirteen boys escaped from their rooms and the infirmary with their locks shorted out, one of them had an EMP Quirk so one of them managed to break the manual lock on his door. Two of them gave themselves up immediately and we just found one of them trying to walk out the front entrance. With the two you found in the camera's blindspot we have seven of them unaccounted for and one of them confirmed a runner. Hang in their boys I'll send Ito to help you out while I sort this mess out."
With that the radio went silent and Sakaki reached for his pocket.
Only to barely catch a ¥500 coin that Miura threw at him.
"I hate being right this time." Miura said.
"Uh can someone please help me, I think the fence is starting to cut into my sides." The large teen said, getting Miura to sigh.
"Alright. Suck in your gut as best you can, we'll pull you out on the count of three." Miura said as both Sakaki and the other teen after a pointed glare from the guards grabbed onto his legs.
All the while Sakaki wondered just what had caused all of this.
(4 km from Berusabisu Juvenile Detention Center - Same Time)
In a car driving along the back rounds two of the inmates sat in the backseat.
One of them was a tall teen with short black hair, glasses, and a lanky yet deceptively muscled frame. He looked around the car nervously.
The other was slightly shorter and younger with reddish brown hair and amber eyes, a metal plate underneath one of them.
"Shiten are you sure about this?" The taller of the teens asked nervously. "If I had just stayed in there-"
"Then you would have been sent to prison in a few months Isogai, that asshole hero made sure of that for just defending against his son. Although I hear he is being investigated for a lot of shady stuff, still aunt and uncle should have at least done something for you cousin." Shiten said, his right hand twitching as he spoke.
"How are they, mom and dad hardly visit." Isogai said with a sigh.
"Both in prison, both for embezzlement. Hell I don't even know why they didn't at least tell me you at least got so jacked, I bet no one picks on you anymore." Shiten said, getting his cousin to nod a little.
"Didn't really have time for much else in juvenile hall besides keeping up my education. No one messed with me now anymore. I think we should go back." Isogai said. "They will know it was me who shorted out the locks after you broke my own."
"And you will have nothing to worry about, I know a way to get you out of trouble. I just need to you to do one favor for me cousin." Shiten said, getting Isogai to look at him hopefully.
"How do you plan on doing that, the same job that you promised me with. You don't have a single yen to your name." A woman's voice said from driver's seat. A pair of piercing amber eyes glaring at the boy in the back. "Your aunt hired me to break you out and stash you in a safe house. You got lucky causing that distraction and I only took him with you since there was a lack of time."
"You are wrong, I do have something and that is the favor I am asking. But that can wait for tomorrow, don't you want to sleep on a real bed for the first time in awhile Isogai." Shiten said, getting his cousin to nod.
"I would like that." He said with a smile.
"This had better be worth it brat." The woman said as she kept her eyes back on the road.
Shiten winced as he felt his pointer and index finger on the right hand lock up for a few moments before twitching with a loud crack. He growled a little as he balled both of his hands into fists.
He just needed to wait a little more time...
(Izuku POV - Midoriya Apartment - The next morning)
Two weeks, it has been two weeks since when we first started the transfusion process I order to cure Erika. I have had undergone the process twice since than.
It has not been a pleasant process just as they said. Besides the burning effects of the Shiragami Compound had on my body during the process, I had multiple needles strapped throughout my body and the feeling of your blood being drained and replaced for half an hour wasn't something I would recommend for anyone.
Yet I have already accepted that it was needed to help Erika.
After that I was check over for any immediate effects caused by the transfusion before being released.
From there things mainly fell into the same routine I had last month...with a lack of Erika and daily inspections on any changes to my body.
Then the next week would be the progress of undergoing the transfusion, at least on those days I didn't have to worry about being beaten into the ground repeatedly by sparring with Agent Dupre on the days she was at the base.
And from there I would see the progress of what Erika was going through.
Her vines had mainly withered and contracted and her body seems to have gotten somewhat smaller, although Monarch has to occasionally clear up chunks of her flesh that fall off from time to time.
Her condition had stabilized since the first transfusion and the rates of infection had become practically none existent by the time of the second transfusion...the only remaining pieces of the Kaiju's existence left were crystals picked off from Erika during the first few days the one that I had in my possession.
I wish it hadn't come to this, but we both knew that this was not preventable...
But at least the Kaiju and I both got something we wan't, that we wouldn't have to worrying about it taking over Erika all over again...
Yet Erika wasn't the only one experiencing changes from the transfusion...the side effects of the process had started to set in for me.
Despite the transfusion process and Shiragami compound diluting the mutagenic properties of Erika's blood with each transfusion, the chimeric nature of her cells meant that it there would definitely be effects.
After the first transfusion I didn't really notice anything, except maybe for maybe I felt a little better in sunlight and my skin tone starting to turn a little pale. Had it checked and no proof of any chlorophyll developing in my blood cells.
Although that might be a possibility at this rate.
But after the second transfusion, the effects are really starting to set in.
"Izuku are you alright in there?" Mom asked from outside the bathroom door.
"I'm fine, just finishing getting ready." I told her, trying to keep it together. As I looked in the mirror.
Over the past week I have noticed my body has undergone quite a few different changes.
My skin has started tone has started to grow even paler and my hair is starting to feel a little matted. My canines are elongating and some of my other teeth are starting to starting to get pointed. Nearly bit my tongue a few times during the past few week while getting used to them.
My pupils are starting to become slit like and dilated, I have also been dealing with my eyes trying to adjust better in bright lights. But it also seems like I have been developing some kind of night vision lately, being able to see things in the dark as I would normally do in the day.
I can feel my entire body starting to grow a little heavier including my limbs, which have been checked out to being my bone's density increasing. Probably the most uncomfortable change of them all in my opinion.
Finally I grew an entire centimeter in height in over the past week.
Those were the most notably changes happening to my body besides feeling like most of my training seems to be going a little easier than normal. And that is after All Might saying that he adjusted things to make it a little more difficult for me.
That just might be due to experience, my body changing, or a mixture of both.
Outside of U.A. and Monarch no one really has noticed any of these changes or if they had they didn't care. But I think that mom is at least starting to suspect something about them.
Y-Yet this change is probably the most drastic I have encountered yet and it wasn't here yesterday.
L-Looking in the mirror I could see my spinal column pushing against my back, and what seemed to bones growing from there and seemed to curve underneath the skin.
I know All Might wanted to at least get in some training for Dagobah Municipal Park for some training, but I think that it would be more important to get this checked out first.
I put my shirt on and hoped that mom didn't notice the results before I needed to head out with All Might.
(20 minutes later)
Thankfully she didn't notice, but I had to repeatedly hold back the need scratch my back against the chair multiple times during breakfast.
I-It felt good to do so afterwards alone though.
Anyway when All Might pulled up, I couldn't wait long enough to leave after hastily say goodbye to mom. It took me less than a minute and a half to leave the apartment, run down the stairs, and to climb into All Might's truck.
"Young Midoriya what is with the hurry. Is something wrong?" All Might asked as I closed the passenger side door, panting a little
"W-We need to head to U.A. immediately." I said to All Might before I showed him my back. "I-I think I might be starting to grow spines or something else."
He proceeded to cough up blood before starting up the truck.
(An hour later - Monarch Temporary Headquarters- U.A. Training Grounds)
"From what we can tell you are not growing any spines, but what you are experiencing is a deformation on your vertebrae from the transfusion. Causing the parts near your back to extend and curve under the skin, yet from what we could tell so far they will not pierce your skin. It won't have any negative impact on your life, but I would advise to avoid getting them broken as it would require surgery to fix in." Recovery Girl said with a pointed glare, getting me to let out a sigh of relief and wince at her glare.
After I showed All Might my back, he immediately drove to U.A. and let them know of the latest change in to my body, with Monarch preparing to conduct the transfusion early after getting some tests done.
Recovery Girl and Dr. Mifune were conducting some tests on my body while Dr. Tōga was conducting some tests on my blood.
At least I won't have to worry about them splitting my back open anytime soon, hopefully...
"Was there anything else that your test found out that we should be worried about for Young Midoriya?" All Might asked worriedly.
"Nothing else to worry about and if there is anything else to worry about we will be sure to keep an even closer eye on Midoriya's changes. But there is a rather curious change in his skeletal structure beside the increase in bone density and enhanced muscle structure. With the possibility for more to develop." Mifune said as he handed All Might a x-ray scan down. "It seems like there is some more deformation going on, but this time a more beneficial change."
He looked at it curiously before coughing up blood and handing it to me.
While I was curious and dreading looking at what was on the scan, I wasn't expecting anything like this!
Along my rib cage, forearms, hands, shins, knees, feet, and shoulders are what looked like bits of flat bones all over the place. There looked like some pointed pieces that were growing among my rib cage, but the rest of them looked to them flatter and following the curvature of the bones. They almost looked like plating...wait a minute.
Could these deformations be some kind of organic subterminal plating? I do know that some Quirks can give people a forms of this and a trait that was shared with some Kaiju. But that couldn't be possible, could it?
"It is and I have treated such Quirks enough times to know it, but these plates seem to be growing on the bones themselves. Usually there would be more of a muscle between them. It could possibly take months for them to fully grow in." Recovery Girl said, breaking me out of my mumbling as I traced my finger among where I had seen on the X-ray on my rib cage.
There I could feel it, one of the plates. It felt like a bump on the bone before I pulled my hand back.
This was going to take some getting used too...
"If they were growing underneath my skin, how come I didn't feel anything than?" I asked them.
"Perhaps the changes are also affecting you register pain, at least internally?" Mifune suggested, getting both All Might and myself to shake are heads at that.
"I-I think it would have kicked in already after a sparring match with Agent Dupre." I said with a shudder.
"That and I could find no traces of such a thing room his blood. Nor still anys signs of chlorophyll developing in his cells. The only thing to note so far is a higher white blood cell count than last week, might want to check up on that again after the transfusion in case it is not an enhanced immune system." Yujiro said as he entered the room. "Anyway Dr. Mifune, Shuzenji Nezu wants the both of you. We are about to prepare for the transfusion."
With that Recovery Girl just sighed and picked up her syringe like cane before she began to walk out of the door as Mifune did so first.
I briefly shuddered and silently wondered how soon the plating would spread fully to my shins as they both left the room.
"I'll be back in a few minutes to let you know when we have everything ready." Yujiro said before he left the room as well, leaving me and All Might alone in the room as he picked up the scans and looked over them.
For a few moments we sat in silence as he looked over the scans down.
"Young Midoriya, how are you feeling about all of this?" All Might asked.
"A-A little unsure about how to deal with these changes and that there are more to come. I'm still getting used to the fact I have partial Kaiju blood. But I have accepted it as it means that Erika will regain a human form soon." I said, getting All Might to nod.
"I thought the same way five years ago as it meant that villain could no longer threaten Japan." He said while holding his side, getting me to wince.
Even after nearly 9 and a half months later it as still hard to imagine what kind of villain could do that to All Might. Especially at what it must have cost him and he based his hero career against him.
I dread to think what he would be like...
"Young Midoriya it will be difficult at first, especially with the changes your body is undergoing are completely unknown. And let me tell you it is okay to be afraid of it, even if you have accepted the consequences." All Might said, breaking me out of my thoughts. Shocking me at his words.
Yet before I could ask what he meant, he continued.
"Living while not knowing if the consequences of your actions would eventually harm you in the worst possible ways. After I received my injury I feared that my condition would act up when someone needed me the most, harming them in the process of saving someone. It got easier to manage in time, but I suppose I have let part of it unchecked for longer than I thought on the day I met you Young Midoriya. It won't be easy, but you will learn to get used to your changes in time. But remember one thing Midoriya, you are not alone on this. Remember that and it will make it easier to adjust to these changes." All Might said with a smile.
H-He was right.
These changes are unpredictable as until two weeks ago there was no way to safely inject someone with Kaiju blood without severe side effects or dying. The only reason none of those things have happened so far was due having the necessary traits and the Shiragami Compound.
And while the later mitigated the effects of Erika's blood, the changes it had brought to me might eventually be harmful to my body.
Already my skeleton was being altered and I was pretty sure I was losing pigmentation in my skin and hair. While these changes weren't harmful to me yet according to everyone, that could easily change...
Plus is last week was of any indication than this next transfusion, the changes will probably set in faster then they had this past week...
It will take time for me to get used to be sure, but there is no going back. These changes are the result of helping Erika and I have accepted it.
And as All Might said, I wasn't alone on this. Everyone here is helping to make sure everything will turn alright for both Erika and myself. Something which I am thankful for everyday.
...But there is someone else that should really know about all of this.
"T-Thank you All Might, I will be sure to do so. But..." I trailed off, getting All Might to stare at me for a few moments before shaking his head.
"I believe I understand Young Midoriya, you wish to tell her everything now?" All Might said, getting me to nod.
"We never said anything to mom due to how urgently Erika needed the transfusion after the Kaiju's last emergence. Nor in the first week due to make sure Erika was going to make it or not." I said a a little shakily. "B-But I think she is starting to suspect something. That and if earlier was of any indication it will be harder to hide it. I don't want her to worry about any of this-."
"You can't hold it back for much longer." All Might finished, getting me to nod. "Well tell her everything this week then. Everything about Erika and One for All...and everything that I should have told you a while ago now."
"What do you mean by that?" I asked All Might.
While I was relieved about telling everything to mom soon, what did he mean by that.
"I wasn't sure if you would be ready to hear about some of what I need to tell you, at least for a while after you had One for All. It concerns what happened that day five years ago. Yet after everything concerning the Kaiju, I think you were ready, but waited until Erika's condition was more stable. There is no more time for secrets, alright Young Midoriya?" All Might asked, getting me to nod.
"Of course." I said with a small smile, letting out a sigh of relief.
While I was curious about what happened five years ago with All Might, what was more important to me was too let mom know of everything and take some weight off my shoulders at least metaphorically. Pretty sure I was about to gain some literally with the bone plates growing there...
"Anyway Young Midoriya I think that will be enough for now, Dr. Tōga will be back any minute now." All Might said before coughing up some blood.
"Hopefully this will be the last transfusion as they said." I said hopefully.
By their original calculations this transfusion would be the last one I order for Erika to be cured fully. Monarch was prepared in the case of Erika's condition not improving further during this week, meaning there was a possibility of a fourth transfusion.
I really hope not, but right now we were all pretty much just monitoring Erika's condition to tell what would need to be done to help her out. And if there was anything I could do to help improve her condition, than I would do it.
(An hour and a half later)
"That should take care of everything Midoriya, I would advise that you get some rest. But considering that you are as stubborn as Yagi I doubt that you will." Recovery Girl said as I felt her Quirk taking effect while already exhausted.
These transfusions were feeling more and more taxing on my body every time I undergo it.
Between the effects of her Quirk, the effects of the Shiragami compound, having my blood drained out and replaced with Erika's, having multiple needles removed from me, having multiple tests run on me, and just worrying about Erika I was really tired...I think I might crash soon.
Yet there was something that I needed to do first.
"I will rest in a bit, but first I want to see Erika." I said, getting Recovery Girl to sigh
"Just don't strain yourself too much." She sighed out.
"I'll make sure that he doesn't." All Might said, before coughing up blood as Recovery Girl smacked him in the shins with her cane.
"I do not want to hear that from you." She grumbled out while exiting the room.
"So do you feel like you can walk right now Young Midoriya?" All Might asked as I stood up, trying my best to hide a wince as my legs felt sore and I could still feel some burning from the Shiragami compound.
Yet I could still walk, and this room wasn't that far from where Erika was being kept.
"I-I can walk." I said as, getting All Might to sigh as he opened the door.
Honestly it took me a few steps into the hallway for the soreness to fully go away, yet the burning sensation would not. It would take awhile before it does like the last two times I had the transfusion.
Once we reached the lab, All Might and I immediately began to head to where Erika was. Thankfully the smell of the process working wasn't as potent anymore. But the lab still had faint aromas of roses, blood, gasoline, and traces of rotten meat in the air. With some of the scientists even wearing hazmat suits cause they were unable to stand the stench.
Still the potency of the smell was just a byproduct that the transfusion was working.
And speaking of which, Erika looked the same as the last time I saw her. Although there seemed to be more bits of her flesh falling away from her body. Still her with her vines wrapped around her body and her head lying back she kind of looked like a withering rose bud.
But her vitals were showing anything but that.
E-Every time I see her like this it feels strange and somewhat wrong. I am used to her being more active or trying to wrap one of her vines around me.
So even are two weeks of her being comatose it I still felt uneasy looking at her like this...
"It will be alright Young Midoriya, all we need to do is wait." All Might said.
"And part of the waiting would seem to be a small problem." I heard Nezu said as he approached us with Vice Director Graham, standing right behind her.
Serizawa was in the United States, from what I could hear taking care of an issue with the budget issue for the Monarch's operations on that side of Earth so Graham was taking over for now. As for Nezu...he keeps putting distance between himself and I after I undergo a transfusion.
I-I think that he might be doing that incase I gain a desire to eat him like Erika does.
T-Thankfully I haven't...but considering the changes done to my body I hope that I never have it at all.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked them.
"The U.A. Entrance Exam is in two and a half weeks. While we will have to wait for more results on Erika's progress, we can only stay at this base for a week longer before it needs to be cleared out for the exams." Graham said, getting me eyes to widen in shock before calming down.
That's right, didn't Nezu and Serizawa had an agreement while setting up the base on U.A. grounds.
"Where are you going to put Erika then if her condition doesn't improve." I asked them.
"Honestly Midoriya we still are looking for a suitable location to set up an outpost with the suitable means to monitor Erika should the need arises. Along with a close enough proximity to the necessary resources to conduct another transfusion if needed. The best location we could do right now is outside of the city." Graham said. "Once we find a notable one we will let you know immediately once we move Erika."
I just nodded as I processed what she said.
"And there is no way to delay this then?" All Might asked Nezu, getting the principle to shake his head.
"We have an agreement with Monarch and I already have delayed the start date of the exams by two days with everything surrounding Erika and the Kaiju. The best I could do is buy Monarch another day to move everything out. Anything more will cause the board and the Ministry of Education to start questioning about this being anything more than one of the exam grounds in a desperate need of repair." Nezu said, getting me to sigh at that.
I suppose that was fair enough I suppose.
Although it was going to take sometime to get used too, but it was probably for the best if that will help Erika. I just hope that it will at least be nearby or in the same province...
I was cut off from my thoughts when things started to look a little blurry and tried to take a step. Only for All Might to catch me.
"Perhaps we can continue this another time, pretty sure that Young Midoriya is going to need to rest up soon. I would rather not have him pass out from exhaustion in front of me on to the hard ground again." All Might said with a sigh.
Before I could say anything, Graham cut me off.
"There must be an interesting story behind that, but Midoriya I suggest that you head home for the day. It seems the transfusion has taken quite the toll on you. We will let you know if there is a change of in Erika's condition as soon as we notice it." She said said with a smile while shaking her head. "There will be more discussions about what to do with moving Erika, but they will be ongoing throughout the week. We all know how worried you are about her, but we are also worried about you too. So please just get some rest alright?"
I suppose that they are right. And I was starting to feel pretty tired.
Erika has been asleep for two weeks now and we don't know when she will wake up. T-The Kaiju is gone now and Monarch is watching her 24/7. Along with conducting tests on both her and me daily in order to monitor our conditions and interfere if they found something wrong.
Well it is still a matter of waiting for Erika, at least she will be alright.
That and I am feeling pretty tired...
"Alright I will." I said before turning to face Erika. "I will be back soon Erika."
Although there was no response from Erika and there hasn't been so for weeks, I believed that she at least heard me. At least I hope so...
"We will see you back here tomorrow Midoriya, until then take care." Graham said, getting me to nod as Nezu waved goodbye.
"Do you think you can walk back to the truck?" All Might asked as we exited the lab.
"I think so." I said to All Might honestly, hoping that was the case.
This was the last transfusion that was initially planned so hopefully there will be a change in Erika's condition soon. Until than all I can do is too wait.
(3rd POV- Temporary Monarch Base Security Room - 3 minutes later)
"So the green bean is leaving early, that is surprising." Agent Gordon said as he was watching All Might and Izuku heading down the halls on the way out through the security cameras.
Although a number of them were displaying either static or chopped up images on the monitors.
That is what he supposed they got for hastily setting up security cameras in this base weeks ago, although for the last week only one of the cameras had been glitching out off and on. No matter what anyone could do it continued to cause problems. Only this morning they replaced it and now a number of them were acting like this.
"So you have any idea what is going on Aoki." Gordon grunted out as Aoki was messing around with the broken camera.
"No idea nor any of the technicians here do either. This camera is still good from what I could see so far, might be something with the programming or we were sold faulty equipment again. Either way I had sent some technicians to check on some of the cameras." Aoki said, getting Gordon to nod.
Before frowning at noticing more camera's acting up, including some more at the perimeter of the base.
"I think that you later theory might be right." Gordon said, getting Aoki to sigh.
"I'll notify Vice Director Graham, seriously this will be the third contractor this year to pull this stunt." Aoki grumbled out before Gordon's communicator went off.
"This is Agent Hawkins, I'm reporting a disturbance I think?" Agent Hawkins said over the communicator, getting Gordon to pinch his nose.
"Hawkins, didn't he just finish training two weeks and a half weeks ago?" Aoki asked.
"And I'll have to make sure to drill proper protocol into that rookie later." Agent Gordon grunted out. "Report Agent Hawkins."
"A-Agent Gordon sir, the door to the storage room with Erika's parts is open while still locked. Doesn't the scientists or Agent Aoki have the only means to open it." Agent Hawkins said, getting both Gordon and Aoki to look at each other.
"That room has a movement based sensor inside and the door creates a silent alarm when opened. If anyone ever gotten themselves locked inside they could press their I.D. into a slot in the back and another alarmed would be triggered along with who it was. Never thought I would have to use it until last week, but this room or myself would have known if that happened." Agent Aoki said seriously, getting Gordon to look back at the screens.
No one should have opened that door for at least until the stopped bathing the flesh and vines peeling off of Erika for storage.
"Anything else we should know about Agent Hawkins." Gordon said, silence pouring over his communicator for a few moments.
"Some of the containers look unopened but are half empty or chunks left in them. I think one of them is empty." Agent Hawkins said.
Not so much out of the usual. Some of Erika's flesh had a flare up in micro oxygen after peeling and it would spread throughout a container and rotting the surrounding flesh until nothing was left.
Requiring a hazmat team to dispose of the containers filled with micro oxygen or at least tainted.
But there was one definite way to tell if there was micro oxygen in there.
"Tell me do you see any signs of rot or graying in the containers?" Agent Gordon said.
"Most of them from what I could see are, some are not." Agent Hawkins said.
"Stay where you are and do not move." Gordon said before he shut off the communicator.
"I already contacted the hazmats, I will go have a look around the base." Agent Aoki said as he started to walk towards the door.
"Gather some agents if you do, I'll contact Graham. This might be nothing, but we can't be too prepared for the worst." Gordon said, Aoki to nod as he left the room.
Either this was a bunch of malfunctions all at once, or there could be a serious problem on their hands.
(U.A. Parking Lot - 5 minutes later)
"And he is out like a light." All Might sighed as he saw Izuku had fallen asleep in the passenger side seat.
Looks like he was more tired that he had thought. Honestly it looked like that he would have lasted for at least a while longer. Unless he was just hiding how tired he was the whole time they walked back to the truck.
"Hopefully this is the last transfusion Young Midoriya, they have been putting too much stress on your body lately." All Might sighed out as he checked Izuku in before buckling him in and leaning the chair back.
He was currently fast asleep and All Might figured that he would try to wake up Midoriya in about an hour.
All Might bucked himself in the truck and started the truck up before driving away.
As he drives away he heard something go bump underneath his truck, looking through his rear view mirrors to see what it was before sighing.
"It's just a rock, good thing I paid extra for the undercarriage." All Might said.
Learned the hard way with the first interaction of the Allmobile. Took it for one test drive and somehow had wrecked the underside of it with a broken hubcap left in the roadway.
Rarely had he ever seen David more upset than on that day. Took them over two days to fix.
Clearing his head of those thoughts he focused on the road before smiling.
"You have pushing yourself harder than I have seen for awhile these last two weeks Young Midoriya." All Might said before shaking his head. "Then again that might partially be helped by what's happening with your body, but you have been pushing yourself harder and harder since that day with the Kaiju. Pushing yourself not just to receive One for All, but to better yourself to help Erika when the time comes isn't it?"
Izuku could not hear his question, but All Might had a feeling that might be the answer.
Still All Might smiled as he looked at his protege.
"Whatever the reason you are so close Young Midoriya, all you need is just one more push before you are ready. Just a little shove before you are ready to inherit One for All. You will need to find it on your own and then you will go Plus Ultra Izuku." All Might said before looking back at the road.
If he was honest with himself, Izuku could have received One for All before the first transfusion given all he had been through the month before. Yet he didn't give it for three reasons.
The first and the one Izuku knew was he wasn't sure how it will affect his body while he was changing. Considering the proof that his bones where deforming and developing platting, All Might coughed up some blood at the thought of what Recovery Girl would do if Izuku had breaker any bones before than.
Second was Izuku already had enough on his mind with Erika going under and everything surrounding the Kaiju. He didn't want to add even more of a burden to him at the time.
Finally, he wanted Izuku to realize that he was ready.
When he did that, Izuku would have unintentionally surpassed the limits they had set up when they began training.
All Might felt like it would be soon, but when it did Izuku would surprise them both.
"I wonder what Inko would like for lunch? Might just wait for Young Midoriya to wake up before asking him that," All Might muttered to himself while clearing his thoughts. Turning on the radio.
"Reports are still coming in about the break out of the Berusabisu Juvenile Detention Center, but what is known was that 13 boys tried to break out earlier this morning." The radio announcer said, getting All Might to cough up blood.
Wasn't that...
"They broke out of their rooms and over 8 of them escaped through a hole cut through the perimeter fence that had been cut through by either by one of the escapees or an outside accomplice. 5 of them had been caught in different points of the facility and how they went unnoticed for so long had been dealt with according to staff. Over 3 of the boys had been caught not long after they escaped and the other 5 are still on the run. More details on the escaped boys will be provided this afternoon, but the police and heros are willing to hear from citizens if they have information on the boys in question. More information to come after these messages." The radio announcer said as All Might just sighed while looking at Izuku.
"Going to need to call Tsukauchi just incase." He sighed out while changing stations.
While it was incredibly unlikely, so was Izuku finding a Kaiju. After the last month All Might hated to admit it, but Izuku was a trouble magnet.
Not that he would admit it, otherwise he would be agreeing is Aizawa.
"Currently I would advise to stay off Tulrus Street, there is currently a car chase between the cops and a thief who stole from a pharmacy. They are heading eastward with heros on the way to intercept." A newscaster said on the radio.
All Might saw where he is at before parking on the side of the road.
"No rest for the wearily than." All Might said as he exited the truck, turning into his heroic form. "Don't worry Young Midoriya, it shouldn't be more than a minute."
He jumped over a building as heard police sirens coming his way.
Missing something briefly poking out from under his truck before slinking back under it.
(Other side of Mustafa - An hour later)
"Are you serious about this Shiten." Isogai asked his cousin incredulously.
Currently the two of them were in the back of their driver's car, having changed into some street clothes and ditched their uniforms in a dumpster behind a Chinese restaurant.
Isogai grew incredibly nervous with each update he heard about the other escapees, how they were on the run and already one of them had gotten caught trying to rob a liquor shop twenty minutes ago. Admittedly most of their fellow escapees weren't that bright...
Still what worried him the most was the driver and his cousin.
The woman who had been driving them around was already worrisome enough for the simple fact his mother hired her. But she had been nothing but cold to both him and Shiten and the look she always gave them with her golden eyes sent a chill down his spine.
At best he could describe it was like a surgeon prepping for a incision, looking at where to cut them up for the most effect.
For Shiten, he was only less afraid of him than his parents because his cousin actually cared.
He had seen what he could do to people that he crossed and it wasn't pretty. Given how Shiten had spent most of the time in infirmary with healing ribs and using his Quirk to repeatedly make a makeshift brace over his right hand, he was sure that he was going to utterly break who did that.
And Isogai was sure Shiten would do that to him if he actually knew who did it or told anyone what he was doing, family or not.
That and he was worried about the condition of Shiten's hand. It twitched and his pointer finger, ring finger, and pinky kept locking for every now and than. Sometimes all three at once and then Shiten would have to wait a few minutes before he could move them again, his hand twisted into a claw like shape.
Still he was surprised that Shiten was handing him a backpack full of 2 million yen about a block or two from his aunt's and uncle's house.
"Simple really you are free to go as long as you keep quiet about me. As for the yen, that is part of your mother's trust fund for my high school take it." Shiten said, waving his good hand dismissively.
Honestly it was the only of his aunt's accounts he could access from an ATM after blocking the camera. She had hidden a cool ¥6,000,000 as a trust fund in a false account so the police wouldn't suspect any definite connection between the two for a while.
"But won't the police still come after me, I would rather give myself up." Isogai said, getting Shiten to sigh.
"How the hell can you suggest such a thing beyond me, but my folks are your best option for freedom at this point. Going to the police with them backing you up is the best bet. Hell mother is helping to tear that asshole hero to shreds at the bar already, sooner or later your conviction is bound to be turned over. Hopefully his ass lands in prison next to uncle. Either way you you can get your life back on track with them, just stay the hell away from the Hero Commission though and you should be fine." Shiten said, getting Isogai to contemplate his answer for a few minutes.
Him trying to decide on what to do was not helped by the woman's gaze or Shiten gaining impatient.
Yet he came to an answer soon enough.
"Fine, but what about you cousin?" Isogai asked, getting Shiten to laugh at that.
"I'll serve my time after making sure a certain loser learns his true place. But I think you should go now, now remember what will happen if you say anything. You know what I would do and that I would hate it, yet I doubt you would want to know what she could do." Shiten said, pointing to the driver who glared at him.
"Fine...just please reconsider cousin before you do anything that will be worse for you." Isogai said, getting out from the back of the car and walked away. With the car driving in the opposite direction.
Shiten only shook his head at that.
"Sorry cousin, but not until I broken that useless Deku's dreams and body. Besides I think I can go on the run for a while afterwards." He said with a snarl before shaking his head. "Anyway as I was hoping, there is 2 million yen for you if help me in teaching him a lesson."
"Add an extra ¥250,000 for everything with your cousin and consider it a deal." The woman said coldly. "But just so you know, your aunt has been moved to a higher security wing after this morning and the only reason I'm keeping my word by stashing you in the safe house is that she paid in advanced."
"Kind of figured she would get caught." Shiten groaned out, his fingers twitching before covering them in his Quirk. "Still I do need sometime to heal up, so waiting a few days to break Midoriya will be even more satisfying. But do you have anything that will even the odds against him."
He had underestimated the Quirkless loser twice and in the end his hand was screwed up for life.
There will be no third time.
The woman studied him for a few moments in the rear view mirror before placing an arm on the back of the seat.
"Make it an extra ¥250,000 and I know just the thing you want. But it will take a day or two for me to get it." The woman said, getting Shiten to grumble at that.
It was twisting his arm at this point, but he would accept it. Anything to help break Midoriya completely.
"Fine just make it happen." Shiten said.
Only for him to jump back in he seat as something long and serrated to rapidly settle at his neck. Even moving back did little as it was pushed towards his neck with an audible click.
"Despite our agreement do not think you can boss me around. You might be a client, but your aunt hired me first. So we will work together on this, but not assume I am some lackey of yours. I will work with you to see this job through, but treat me like a lackey or if I find anything from my ace house missing that I tell you not to touch..." The woman trailed off, the object letting out a soft hum as Shiten felt his neck being cut.
He quickly covered the scratch as the object retreated back with some audible clicks.
This woman was dangerous, not as dangerous as the villain who ruined his first attempt at Midoriya. But still plenty dangerous and could kill him if she wished.
Oh she was perfect.
"Alright fair enough." Shiten said as he slumped back, feeling relief that he was still alive. "But what do I call you anyway, you haven't said anything about that the entire time?"
The woman stared at him for a minute before she spoke.
"Your cousin was a liability. But if you must know, my name is Sumire Kokuyōsenki." Kokuyōsenki said, getting Shiten to nod with a grin.
(3rd POV - Same Time)
"Are you sure your mother will like this Young Midoriya?" All Might asked Izuku as the two of them where carrying takeout bags and a drink holder.
"Of course, we have gotten lunch here several times." The now awake teen said. He was still feeling kind of tired, but it was a lot better then he was earlier.
"I get it, but did you really have to order that much katsudon." All Might said with a grin, getting Izuku's face to flush in embarrassment as they climbed into the truck.
In an alleyway across from the restaurant's parking lot, a small pair of eyes glared at the two from the shadows.
Only to be startled as a seagull flew at it and tried to attack.
Yet the seagull was quickly killed when it's throat was pierced and blasted with energy.
The thing observing Izuku and All Might took an experimental bite, before dragging the seagull's corpse into the shadows of the alleyway. It began to roast the seagull bit by bit before greedily devouring it.
All the while glaring at Izuku as he and All Might drove away.
It will get it's chance soon enough, once it was stronger.
(Chapter 13 end)
Hey guys Mukuro7 here and I hoped that you all enjoyed this chapter.
As I explained Izuku is experiencing some changes and is in a way becoming more durable. Quite frankly he could really use it. While the changes are in it's infancy right now they will get stronger as you all will see next chapter. But Izuku will gain some perks from his condition including two main ones. I'll give a hint about one, consider Erika's biology and compare it to another Kaiju.
Guess it right an you gain a cookie.
And I did promise about old grudges as well, Shiten returns and have some help as well. If you remember last chapter I did bring up Kokuyōsenki last chapter, she was the best possible donor for Erika besides Izuku Monarch could locate within Mustafa and the surrounding areas during the first test. She was rejected due to her crimes and simply being dangerous in general to the staff. They will be Izuku's main challenge this arc, with the eventually battle acting as a crux for the rest of canon.
How so you may ask, well read and find out. But some of up you did guess correctly about what will happen to one of them. Not saying who but congrats on getting it right.
Finally, seems like someone else had made some changes recently. They aren't a threat now, but they will be soon.
Anyway that's about all for now.
Next chapter will have some big events for Izuku and everyone else, secrets revealed, and people waiting in the shadows for vengeance. I hope that you all will enjoy the chapter when it comes out.
So until next time ciao!
