She stood and savoured the chaos and despair. She was responsible for this, she was responsible for all the death and disease and destruction. She watched, as they fought and killed each other, as they abandoned their screaming kids, as famine plagued town after town after town. 

Fire raged behind her and she smiled; for she was their worst nightmare.
