░ Chapter Seventeen
Hoseok and Taehyung were assigned to put up the cameras in Yoongi's apartment.
Jimin was sulking because he wanted to go as well. Namjoon told him that it might not be safe for him to do so as he might not be able to control himself and steal some stuff like the detective's toothbrush or clothes. Of course, Yoongi, being the smart detective he was, would notice immediately if even something that small was gone or changed.
Jimin's sulking did not last long, however, because he was then told that he would be doing what he did best: distracting the subject. The smile on his face was the happiest Namjoon had ever seen after hearing the news.
And so, with the goal to study Min Yoongi's routines and find out where the golden pearl was (with some other goals in Jimin's mind, probably), he sent off Hoseok and Taehyung to install the spy cameras. He and Jungkook were waiting from a far distance that he was sure Yoongi would not be passing by on his way home. Namjoon had to be very careful.
Even though the detective couldn't see him, he could still feel Namjoon's presence for some unknown reason.
They're doing this an hour before Yoongi's shift would end, which was the crack of dawn. It's too dangerous to do it while he was in the middle of his shift because he might go home all of a sudden and their plan would get ruined. At least, if it's after his shift, Jimin could have a valid reason to distract him.
Jimin should give them an additional hour.

It shouldn't really surprise Yoongi that Jimin was there, standing by his Black MV Agusta, when he went to the basement to retrieve his motorbike. He was so ready to go home after such a long, agonizing, and boring shift.
But hey, he didn't really mind an angel taking a little of his time.
"Yah, what are you doing here?" he asked, pretending to be annoyed when he's truthfully a little excited at the prospect of Jimin waiting for him. He looked good leaning over his motorbike. The said angel was wearing jeans and a blue fluffy sweater that was a little too big for him. It was Yoongi's first time to see him in these clothes since he was always wearing leather pants when they meet.
"Am I not allowed to visit you?" he responded with a pout. Yoongi tried to stop himself from smiling, or cooing at that. Ugh, Jimin was starting to get to him. It's not good.
He stopped a few inches from where the boy was standing and snorted at his question. "You're getting too spoiled, are you not?"
"I love being spoiled."
"Yes, I can see."
"I also love men who have motorcycles."
The remark made Yoongi raised his eyebrows. Jimin had always been so smooth with words, making Yoongi even more intrigued with the boy. He would never admit it out loud but he was starting to look forward to these unexpected encounters.
When Yoongi didn't respond to him, Jimin continued speaking. "Give me a ride?"
Another raised eyebrow from Yoongi. He stared at Jimin with amused eyes before answering.
"Where do you wanna go?"
"Take me anywhere."
"Are you gonna promise to behave?" In his mind, he knew he shouldn't do this. But hey, what's a detective if he would not throw caution to the wind. Sometimes you gotta enjoy life.
The thief nodded eagerly and started opening the bag he was bringing. He looked so cute and innocent today. Yoongi wondered how many things about Jimin he didn't know.
While he was staring at the other man, he realized that he didn't have an extra helmet. But before he could even say anything, Jimin was pulling out a helmet from his bag. Yoongi didn't even notice until that moment that his bag was a little huge, probably because of the helmet.
He watched as Jimin struggled to wear the helmet, looking so adorable as he huffed in frustration. Yoongi smirked and moved forward to close their distance and reach out to fasten the helmet. He could feel Jimin staring at him but he chose to focus on securing the helmet.
After doing so, he mounted his bike and started the engine. Jimin followed suit, and soon enough, he could feel the warm press of the boy's chest against his back. The thief had always been so forward, so it didn't really surprise Yoongi when Jimin leaned flashed against him and hugged his chest tightly, pressing their bodies as close as possible.
There was a place that Yoongi would always go to whenever he needed a break, or he needed to think. It was a special place for him and even Jin did not know about it. It was like his secret place of some sort. And he would be bringing Jimin there.
He was not sure why he wanted to do that.
The boy tightened his hold on Yoongi's waist as he began to increase the speed. It's been a long time since he'd been to Incheon, but he knew the winding roads here all too well as if they were imprinted on the back of his hands. He loved driving at a steady speed, increasing it a little after every kilometer until he threatened to go past the speed limit.
He will, of course, not go past the speed limit. Seoul's best detective couldn't be caught red-handed. That's too embarrassing.
Soon enough, they were entering a secluded part of Incheon that's far away from the commercialized beaches and tourist areas. There were only a few people who lived there, and some of them were already familiar, if not friends, with Yoongi, since he often went to that area. The houses were small and simple, with children running around and people doing their chores and preparing the products that they would be selling in the market. Yoongi loved the peaceful atmosphere and simple lifestyle.
The coast was beautiful as they continued to drive. The waters glistening under the sun and the waves seeming to say hi to him, welcoming him back after a long time. The salty air hitting them on the face was exhilarating, too. It was a welcome sensation. A break from the busy life of the city.
It was beautiful.
Just like the person riding with him.
He stopped at the exact place where he always used to hang out. There was a lone bench that looked too old and rickety to be safe, but Yoongi knew better. It was there the first time he went to that place, and it's still as sturdy after all those years. One of the locals built it for his kids so that they can sit while they're enjoying the sea coast, but they never complained whenever Yoongi used it. They even brought him food sometimes.
He turned off the engine and got off the bike first, helping Jimin unmount as well. When the younger man took his helmet off, there was a smile on his face and his eyes had disappeared into tiny slits. He thrusted the helmet to Yoongi's hand playfully and ran towards the bench, leaving Yoongi to hang the helmets on the handle bars.
He went to sit beside Jimin and the little shit didn't waste any moment and placed his head on Yoongi's shoulders comfortably. He didn't mind it, though.
"Hyung, it's beautiful here."
"I'm glad you like it."
Jimin turned his head so that his chin was digging on Yoongi's shoulder, his lips almost touching the older's cheek. "We should've brought ice cream. I wanna eat ice cream."
Yoongi wanted to point out that the ice cream would've melted in their drive, but the silly thief looked so cute that he just nodded. "Next time," he replied, a little giddy at the prospect of next time. He didn't really know what possessed him today to agree with Jimin's whims but for some reason, he couldn't say no. Especially when the younger man was wearing a cute and cuddly outfit.
"I like it here," Jimin continued after a few minutes of comfortable silence. "It reminds me of home."
"Home?"
"Yeah. I grew up in Busan."
Oh. At that moment, there were a lot of questions in Yoongi's mind. He was curious about the man beside him. Who was his parents? Did he have any siblings? How did he become a thief? How did he become part of BTS and came to Seoul? Lots and lots of questions... But he knew it was not the right time. There might never be a right time.
For both of them.
His heart constricted a little, reminded of the fact that he and Jimin lived in two very different worlds.
"I didn't even realize it's been a long time since I had last been to the beach. We should go here always," Jimin added amidst Yoongi's silence. "We should buy a lot here, hyung, and live by the sea. That's amazing!"
"You do that. You're richer than me. You're a thief and I'm just a security guard."
Jimin turned to him and pouted. "Yes, I am a thief. Do you think that will be enough qualification to steal your heart?"
Yoongi laughed, which was rare. He didn't chuckle, nope. He didn't snort. He laughed. Loudly. With his body shaking and eyes getting lost. It was probably the first time he laughed for real in front of Jimin.
Maybe it was the sea. Or maybe it was just the mood. But it could also be because Jimin was so damn smooth he wouldn't let any opportunity to sneak in some pick-up line go to waste. It's funny and Yoongi was loving every single moment of this.
Of Jimin.
What he would give to change their lives and make Jimin part of the good side.
