"Liam..!"

I opened my eyes with a groan, before I saw Toni shaking me awake.

"Wha-"

"Happy Birthday Dork!!" She squealed hugging me tightly. I Tensed up a bit before sinking into the hug grumbling softly. I was not a morning person. I was a I wake up and sleep when I want person.

"Happy Birthday to us then.." I mumbled softly.

"Get down stairs.. Quickly though." She said gently kissing my forehead before running off. I flopped down on my bed with a sigh.

October 31st 

The day the biggest mistake in the universe was made.

I slowly stood up. Although Halloween was always fun. I never celebrated it because again, I wasn't allowed to go out much but I usually didn't mind. It involved the day of pranking for Toni and I when we were about 15.

After a quick shower I quickly pulled on a white hoodie that I'd gotten a few days before with Ryan. And made an effort to try to control my usually messy hair. I did notice that the blue was starting to grow stronger. I didn't know what to make of that.

I started to walk out of my room before my eyes landed on a single rose in the room. I smiled a bit walked towards it seeing a note attached to it. Maybe today wouldn't be such a bad one.

I made my way downstairs to where the smaller kitchen was walking in seeing Harley and Violet with Charlie.

Violet was a close friend of my parents. She didn't talk much but I could tell she was a lot closer to my mother and her other friend Iv. 

Harley was close with both my parents, and Charlie of course was my best friend. 

"Happy Birthday, Lee!" She said wrapping me in probably the tightest hug in human history. I laughed softly wrapping my arms tightly around her.

"Thank you.."

After some other greetings I had finally made my way to my parent's room opening the door feeling two people run straight into me.

"Happy Birthday and Happy Halloween, Lee!!" Ryder said hugging onto my leg tightly.

I laughed softly. "Thanks, Ryder." 

Kiran was hugging me from the side I could honestly barely contain my smile. I had a million reasons to hate myself and my birthday. But I couldn't hate my family for all the love.

I felt my parents join the hug before they dragged Toni into the hug. We would be lying if we said we weren't suffocating.

But the smiles and laughter made up for it.

Finally I had gotten a break. I was sitting in the garden staring at the note from Ryan. I haven't told anyone about us yet. I could tell that maybe someone found it odd that I seemed in a better mood. Though I couldn't admit it to anyone. Plus what's the point in telling anyone..?

"Hey, Love.." I heard his voice ringing through the garden. I looked around before seeing him leaning against a tree on the outside the garden. I rolled my eyes with a smile before climbing over the fence and gently kissing his cheek.

He smiled a bit which made my expression brighten. "You smiled!" 

"Don't get used to it." He said the smile soon disappearing.

"Wha.. No! Get the smile back!"

"No"

"Ryan."

"No."

"Now I'm sad."

"Well life is sad."

"Rude."

"Thank you."

"I-... Fuck you."

"Can't do that."

"Oh my god, I hate you so much right now."

"I love you too." 

"I-." I stared at him with an blank expression as he pulled back an innocent smile.

I rolled my eyes with a smile. "Your lucky I love you." I said with a small huff.

"I'm charmed." He said before offering his arm to me. I smiled gently taking it with a smile. We made our decent into the woods talking about nothing serious.

"I didn't get to say it in person, but Happy Birthday, love." He said gently kissing the side of my head.

I smiled a bit. Gently snuggling against him. 

"I do have an extremely small surprise, for you as well." He said with a small grin. I smiled a bit as we walked into town. I still wasn't prepared for all the glares I would be getting. Though I still couldn't unhear the insults.

'Look the sluts out with his toy.'
'Just a couple more years before he gives up the throne don't jinx it.'

'I heard that-'

I lowered my head unable to think anymore not even hearing their insults anymore. I felt Ryan pull away, with a glare on his face.

"Ryan..?"

"I'll be right back. Stay here."

"R-"

"I said stay." He said before walking over to the crowd of people whispering.

I bit my lip tightly gripping my arms. Looking at the ground wincing at the cries of pain. 

I felt someone knock into me glaring at me.

'Don't stand in the middle of the street slut.'

"I-.. I'm s-"

They shook their head before shoving me back a little. 'I didn't ask for a response slut.'

I felt the tears weld up in my eyes before I saw them fall over, with Ryan brushing a knife off.

"......What did you do."

"Nothing."

"Ryan."

"Nothing that they didn't deserve."

I let out a sigh before shaking my head.

"Did anymore of these assholes mess with you?" He asked his eyes hard and obviously glaring at people passing by.

"No, you've marked your territory so hard, they're scared to even say 'Hello.'" I said in a dead panned voice.

He wrapped his arms around me resting his head on mine grumbling softly. "I'm just trying to protect you, love."

"I know.. but did you really have to hit them with your knife?"
"I believe the technical term is 'stab', and yes I did."

I rolled my eyes before taking his arm. "I'll allow it just this once, now where were we going..?"

"Oh, right." He gently took my hand leading me into the woods before stopping. 

"Wait here until I come back, I'll only take a minuet." He promised gently kissing me, before walking into the woods.

I smiled a bit tightly gripping my hoodie sleeves. I didn't know what his surprise was, but I was already excited. Even if I didn't know what the future had in store I knew that this was the start of something new.

"... Long time no see, right Liam..?

I felt my blood run cold. I'd recognize that voice anywhere. I turned around seeing her leaning against a tree with a smirk on her face as the world around us went grey.

"M-... Marnie.."

"Let's have a chat.. shall we~"
