"New years is something we used to celebrate on earth." I say as shiro and I hung up a banner that held the letters to happy New Years! "Yeah it celebrates one year on earth." Shiro chimes in.
"But how do you know what a year is?" Keith questions.
"We count by seeing that the earth rotates around the sun once."
"I thought that was a day?" Keith asked
"No, a day measurement is by when the earth rotates itself once. A year is how long it takes for earth to rotate around the sun." I point out.
He just looked at me confused
"Hand me the streamers." Shiro says and Keith hands him the shiny streamers. Shiro tapes them to the ceiling and and I stand on a chair to reach it. I was hanging one when I pushed down on the chair backwards and stared to fall. I closed my eyes but I never felt the impact of the ground. I felt arms catch me and I liked my eyes to see Keith holding me against his chest. "Thanks." I say smiling.
"Uh huh." He hummed as I stood back up. I thought I should just stay on the solid ground and hand shiro the stuff he's a lot taller so he won't hurt himself. We finished up the decorating and the rest of the team shows up. "Hey guys! We were just finishing up New Years decorating." I say
Hunk hugged me and said it looked beautiful. Pidge loved the look and lance looked sad. I walk off with lance and ask him if he's okay. "I just- I miss earth and then I saw that and I got sad."
"I'm sorry lance I didn't mean to make you sad."
"It's fine. I just- nevermind." I hug him and he smiles.
"Thanks." He said letting go of me.
"Anytime."
I throw on a dress and get back downstairs.

Keith's pov
The music started and people were dancing and laughing. I look at the center and y/n is talking with lance, it's always lance. I turn away as she makes eye contact with me. Lance walks over and nudged me as I look at her talk to pidge. "Ya know, there is a thing where you kiss someone at midnight when the new year starts." Lance winks and I blush. I never blush. "Really?" I turn to him. "Yeah, and I'm pretty sure she wants one from someone."
I lower my head knowing it's not me.
"She said she wanted one from you." I lift my head up and look at him. "Bro if you're messing with me I swear-"
"I swear I'm not messing with you."
I suddenly get confident and I walk to her. "Hey." I say.
"Hi Keith." She smiled.
"Wanna dance?" I ask suddenly.
"I'd love to." She said. I take her hand and lead her to the center of the dance floor. We both enjoy the songs and dance. We laugh and twirl each other around. 

Your pov
It was late and only a couple minutes to midnight and Keith and I were outside and sitting watching the moon. "I heard there was a thing," Keith starts "that you kiss someone when the new year starts."
I blushed and said "yeah. I've always wanted it to happen to me." It was one minute to midnight and I looked at Keith. We stared at each other as the clock ticked. Down 10 Keith closed his eyes
9... I closed mine
8... we both leaned in
7... Keith slid his hands up my waist and pulled me in
6... I felt closer to him
5... I felt his chest on mine
4... I felt his warm breath
3... he placed a hand on my jawline a
2... his lips brushed up against mine
1.... he connected his lips to mine
0..... it was New Years and I had kissed him. I was still kissing him. He pulled me in closer and kissed me harder. His soft yet rough lips danced against mine. Sparks flew as his tongue licked my bottom lip. I opened my mouth and he slipped his tongue into my mouth once and a while. We parted and I smiled at him. "Best first kiss." I say still really close to his lips. "I can make your second one even better." He said smirking and then kissing me again. We kissed all night. New Years is the best
