Chapter 11 Could I have imagined it?
Chapter 11: Could I have imagined it?
Hey guys! I will be dedicating this chapter and a new girl character to MuahahahaxD for commenting and being so supportive of my book!
Emery's POV
One week later
"How dare you let me go through that!"
Surprisingly that wasn't me saying that to Raiden, it was actually the little girl we found in the back room of the bar.
I found out a little later that she isn't a little girl, she is actually the same age as me! She's just petite with a baby face, she has beautiful long blond hair with warm blue eyes just like Raiden's, except his eyes are ice cold.
So after I stopped avoiding River, he told me that they're cousins, she is the daughter of Raiden's aunt and uncle that took care of him when his parents died. River also included that she was kidnapped by this weak gang two months ago and Raiden didn't do anything about it till now.
So you can see why she's yelling at him.
"I didn't notice you were gone," Raiden shrugged. "I don't believe that for a second Raiden, I was gone for two months!" She shouted.
"And you didn't even help me you just sent one of your gang members to get me which you could've done a while ago!" She added.
We are currently in the living room along with River, Graham, Duncan, and Mackenzie. I would've gone to help Layla in the garden if Raiden didn't order me to stay put.
I hate the fact that he's treating me like a dog, if he keeps this up my birthday present will probably be a shock collar.
"I hate you!" She yells stomping out of the room.
I take this chance while everybody is distracted to slip out of the room following her. Casey finally upgraded me to crutches!
Sensing that I'm following her she turns around.
"You're not part of this gang right?" She questions angrily.
"Um...No," I shiver under her stare.
In a second her scowl turns into a bright smile. "Thank goodness, I can't handle anyone that's in a gang with him," she happily says.
"Anyway I'm Renae with an 'ae' at the end of my name," she points out.
"Isn't it Renee with an 'ee?" I curiously ask.
"That's what it says on my birth certificate but I write it a different way," she states.
"That's unique! I'm Emery with a 'y'," I joke. "I like you," she laughs.
"Emery!" I hear Raiden yell at the end of the hall. "My god, he can't leave me alone for a second," I whisper to myself.
I turn around and see Duncan following him. "What are you doing?!" He angrily asks.
"I'm talking to my new Bff," Renae answers instead.
"I didn't ask you Renae!" He yells.
Why can't he just leave me alone, doesn't he understand I don't want to be near him. "You need to stop being so mad all the time, I'm just talking to her!" Renae says raising her voice.
"Emery go help Layla in the garden," he demands. "No, she's staying with me," she challenges.
"Renae she is not your new best friend, she is my slave and she will do what I order her to do!" He shouts correcting her.
"How is she supposed to help in the garden? She's on crutches!"
"Well that's her problem to figure out," he rudely tells.
"It's fine Renae, I'll go," I assure her.
I didn't hear anyone's last words for I limped out of the hallway. I roamed around a different hallway and heard giggling at the end of the hall. I hop towards the last door and looked through the tiny window on the door.
I see Layla and Kade siting closely together looking for something on the computer. Looks like Layla won't be in the garden today.
I turn around and make my way out from the hallway when I suddenly bump into Duncan.
"Oh gosh, I'm sorry," I apologize.
"H..hey Emery I was just looking for you, actually Raiden is, he just sent me," he rambles very fast. I'm actually surprised I understood him.
Can't he just get me himself? Why does he have to send everyone else to get me for him? "If he wants to see me he's gonna have to ask himself and not demand," I snarl.
"He just sent me to go to the garden and now he want me to come back, I'm on crutches for god's sake!" I scream.
"I know Emery but--" he never gets a chance to answer for I limped away towards the garden.
Thankfully he doesn't come after me. I open the double doors and get captivated by the beauty of the garden once again.
I take a deep breathe taking in the fumes of the hundreds of flowers, my breathe turns into a gasp when someone from behind grabs my wrist.
I try to scream but it's soon muffled by a hand covering my mouth roughly.
"It's me Emery," a voice I'm all to familiar with soothes.
"Leave me alone," I beg. "No, when I say come to me, you come to me,"
"There's a problem with that sentence because you didn't say anything to me, you sent someone else to say something for you," I correct.
"I don't care Emery, I'm the boss around here so it doesn't matter if I sent someone," he reprimands.
"Okay fine, whatever, what do you need to tell me?" I ask sick of all the trouble I'm having to go through just so he can tell me something.
"Don't touch the statue," he orders.
"That's it! That's all you needed to tell me!" I shout at him.
He doesn't care if he's hurting someone or wasting their time as long as he gets what he wants.
I honestly, whole heartily hate him.
"Don't you dare shout at me, just don't touch it!" I can't believe this, he should expect me to yell at him for all he's done to me. "Why would I want to touch something that belongs to you," I scowl.
Then all of a sudden a loud, rippling sound slices through the air.
Raiden surprisingly jumps on top of me making me fall onto the ground with his entire body hovering over mine.
I don't think he realizes that I'm on crutches.
I wince at the sudden impact and pressure he put on my leg. I hold back my line of colorful words to him when the pain in my leg feels worse.
"Dang it, I missed!" Someone shouts from afar. I hear footsteps walking towards our way.
When the footsteps stop I look upside down to see Duncan. "What are you guys doing on the floor?" He asks while reloading his gun.
"What were you just doing Duncan?" Raiden fumingly answers with another question.
"Just doing some practice shots," he answers. Raiden sighs, if not possible, putting more weight on me.
So I gladly decide to speak up. "Get off of me! You weigh like 400 pounds!" I over exaggerate.
He growls under his breathe while slowly getting off of me. I sit up waiting for someone to pull me up and give me my crutches back.
Raiden just shrugs and walks back inside. What is the matter with him? First he toppled over me without saying sorry, and now he won't even help me up?
"Here, I've got you," Duncan assures behind me while grabbing my underarms and pulling me up. He reaches for my crutches off the floor and hands them to me.
"Thanks, are you--," and once again, "Duncan get over here!" I am interrupted by Raiden's booming voice going through the house.
"Aaaaaand that's my cue," he says stretching the 'and.'
"It's fine go ahead,"
Duncan leaves following Raiden's order. I have this weird feeling that I need to look down, call it women's intuition.
I look down to see a gold key with the sun reflecting off of it. I try to reach down and after about three minutes I succeed in grabbing the key. I take a closer look at the key and see the writing P.L on the back of it. Hm.... Raiden must've dropped it. I look down the rows of flowers with Raiden's words still lingering in my mind.
Don't touch the statue.
But of course my feet or should I say my crutches don't listen to my brain.
So I start limping towards the statue while putting the key in my pocket. Once again I see the statue shaped like a man looking at his sword with hatred, a sword with three rubies accessorizing the handle.
I look around to make sure Raiden isn't watching me before slowly resting my hand on one of the rubies. I feel all of the three rubies one by one, but by the time I get to the last ruby I can tell there's something wrong with it by the way it wiggles in it's place.
I try to pull it seeing if the ruby can come out but it doesn't, so I decided to push it and when I do I jump by the sudden loud click I hear.
I look around the statue to see if anything happened or changed but nothing did. I walk around the statue with my crutches and I can't find anything that looks different.
Could I have imagined it?
No, I am positive I heard the 'click' sound, I double check around the statue and I finally find something wrong about the statue.
The sword is tilted.
It moved about an inch from its rightful place. I look down at the bottom of the sword and see there's straight line marks like the sword has been moved.
I lean my crutches against the statue and carefully climb up next to the sword. Once I rest my hand on the handle of the sword I pull it and it surprisingly moves.
The sword is a lever.
Once I figured it out I roughly pull the lever all the way toward me and stop when I see the man sliding towards the right.
I hear the screeching sound of concrete rubbing up against concrete, once the statue shaped like a man is done sliding I look down to see there's a ladder leading down to a dark tunnel.
How am I supposed to climb down in my condition? This might be my last chance of being alone I have to do this now. I grab both of my crutches and drop them down the tunnel and take a guess that it's a ten foot drop.
I can do this, I can climb down ten feet or at least I hope I can. I take my non- broken leg first and step down the first bar of the ladder. I then take my broken leg and lightly put it on the second bar putting all my weight into my left leg.
Now for the tricky part I quickly put all my weight into my right leg for a nano- second while putting my left leg quickly onto the third bar. I wince when it feels like fire is burning up my right leg, all I have to do now is repeat this process all the way down.
Fun.
Fourteen minutes later
Finally I'm done, I look up the ladder proud of myself that I climbed all the way down. I was proud of myself until I realized something.
I have to climb back up.
Ugh! I look around frustrated and look to my right to see a large red button. Without even thinking I push it.
I look back up the ladder when I hear the familiar sound of concrete sliding against concrete. The sunlight that was shining down on the tunnel slowly disappears and the man slides back into place. Well that saved me a lot of hassle.
I looked to see that the room is now dark with only a light bulb attached to a wire coming from the ceiling creating a dim glow.
I turn around and see there's no hallway it's just one door. I look around and see there's no more doors.
Who built this whole thing for just one room? What's so special that could be in this one room?
Only I can answer the second question right now when I put my hand on the door knob and twist it to open.
Except it doesn't, it's locked.
No way! I did not just climb down ten feet down a ladder for just this one door to be locked. I will not accept it!
Before I can slam my body against the door to force it open I remember the gold key that I found. I quickly pull it out of my pocket and look at the initial written on it again.
Whoever this P.L girl or guy is I'm gonna unlock your secret, literally. I put the gold key in the slot and it fits.
Turning the key and hearing the click sound assures me that the key actually unlocked the door.
I open the creaking door slightly until I open it all the way. I take two steps forward and am suddenly having my breathe knocked out of me when two hands wring around my throat pushing me up against the wall.
I look at the man closely and realize he's not a man, he looks like a teenage boy. He has blue eyes with light brown hair that is slightly ruffled.
"Who are you?" He questions not putting pressure on my throat.
"E..Emery," I stutter.
He laughs darkly before speaking up again. "Your Raiden's girl right?" He asks, I look at him confused.
"Oh I'm sorry, I'm Pierce," he introduces before adding another sentence.
"Pierce Lockhart."
What a cliffhanger I left!
I would've updated earlier if I wasn't feeling sick.
I was actually gonna put pierce later on in the story but I thought ah what the heck!
So who do you think Pierce Lockhart is?
Do you like Renae so far?
Which character do you want me to included in the next chapter?
Do you think anybody saw Emery climbing down the ladder?
Do you think Raiden is too possessive?
Last question, did you like this chapter?
Thanks so much to whoever is still reading my book, I give you a virtual hug!
Have a great rest of your week!
I will now begin watching mystery movies!
