The Ladies Crush

"Don't worry. It must've been their amazement to see someone like you here", he assured. I calmed down a bit, there was this feeling of security, his presence brought. Immediately, three girls approached us. "Hi, Julius", they said while scanning me from head to toe. "Is this a new friend?", the girl which I heard Julius call Adaobi asked. Before Julius could introduce me, I already stole the show. "Hey, I'm Sam. You can call me Sammy. It's a pleasure meeting you guys," I said. "My name is Adaobi. Sorry call me Delight", Adaobi said. "Nice meeting you", I brought out my hands to shake her but all were dragging my hands for a handshake.
"I guess that's plus a million steeze", I said winking at Julius. "Guys settle down, let's put something in our bellies. Because if you ask me, I am starving!", he said. We all settled down at a round table while one of the girls signalled the waiter to come. The waiter came in and brought out the menu and handed a copy to each of us. Nkwobi, chicken, special hot rice and goat meat was on the menu. "What's nkwobi?", I asked the waiter. Before she could reply, Julius signalled her to get 4 nkwobi and 4 drinks. "You know, they say that experience is the best teacher. So I guess the taste will answer the question", he said. "Ok, if you say so", I said still looking at the disgusting image of the nkwobi. When the waiter arrived with the orders, I found it hard to eat the nkwobi. I carried it, put it right under my nose- It had this peppery smell. "C'mon Sammy, try it", Adaobi encouraged. I finally put the first chunk into my mouth and slowly my mouth was following the rhythm of it's taste. "Not bad", I said as I continued eating the rest.
They smiled at me. "Let's give a toast", one of the girls, Lucy said. "True talk", Julius supported. " A toast to our friend, a brother, Sam. May the good lord make his stay here worthwhile. "Amen ", echoed everyone. We opened our bottles and emptied the contents.
***********************************
I woke up to find myself on my bed. My head ached when I tried to remember what happened last. All I knew was that there was a point my eyes was closing and that's all. "Oh God! What have I done? I had already gotten myself drunk", I said to myself. I got a feeling I said something I wasn't supposed to say there. I looked at my phone, it was 9pm. "Must have been deep", I said to myself. I went over to my parents room to check whether they were asleep. My mum was very much awake. She heard the door creak open and jumped up in alertness. Sighting me coming forward, she gave a sigh of relief. "C'mon, Sam, you freaked me out", she said. "I'm very sorry. Just wanted to apologize for being drunk", I said. "It's okay. I understand you were having fun", she said smiling.
I went back to my room and checked my WhatsApp chats. Still no messages from Bliss. "It's like she doesn't care about me anymore. I think I will have to start a fresh life here", I concluded and sleep off.
Tomorrow came so suddenly. I looked at my phone and found out the time was 10a.m. I had slept more than enough. "Good morning dad! Good morning mum!", I said as I met them at the dining. "Join us son", my dad offered. "Ehhm, sure. Let me go and brush", I said going back to my room.
"Honey, I've been thinking of a better school to enroll this our son. Do you have any in mind?", my dad asked. "I've been thinking about this school, British Spring College, Awka. I heard they do well academically and train children morally. That would be a better place to train our son", my mum said. "Ok! I will make enquires. He has to start school soon enough", my dad said.
I came to the dining and ate my breakfast -Six toast breads and an egg. I didn't talk when my dad told me about enrolling me in a school outside town. One thing I learnt is that what ever decision he takes has already been concluded and stamped. I just prayed the so called new school would be entertaining. As they were talking, there was a power failure. I looked at my dad but he seemed not to be disturbed. "Dad, I think, there's something wrong with the wires. The light went off", I said ignorantly.
"Oh! Don't mind this NEPA people. They take light anytime they want and bring it whenever they want. That's Naija for you ", my dad said shaking his head.
Not long had I finished eating when I heard the hooting of the scooter. "Julius must be here", I said with fear. The fear of entering his scooter. The fear of over speeding and throwing us out. "Good morning uncle, good morning aunty ", Julius greeted. " Good morning dear", they responded. My parents beckoned on me to go and have fun. "Be careful not to get yourself drunk this time ", my mum said winking at me.
I didn't say a word to Julius until we were off on his scooter. "It seems you have gotten over your hang over", he said smiling. "Of course! Was it meant to last up until now?", I asked sarcastically. "No! It's just that you were amazing yesterday afternoon. Maybe cause you were drunk", he said. "Tell me, what did I do?", I asked. "How?", I further enquired. "It seems you don't rest a bit, do you?", he asked. "That doesn't answer my question", I pressed. "Ok! You praised them. Saying they're beautiful. You have never met such people before. You know that kind of stuff ", he said. I finally set my heart at rest. "Hope they didn't take it seriously. It was a joke ", I said. " Wow, a joke indeed. Were you joking when you said you want to sleep on Adaobi's b**bs. Just imagine how soft it is?", Julius laughed. I felt like killing myself. "I actually said that. God, what will she be thinking now?", I lamented. "Don't worry, bro. That's a huge steeze you did accumulate", he played. I shook him violently forgetting we were on his bike. "You don't want to die. Me also. So don't cause us accident", he said his face becoming serious. "I'm sorry", I quickly apologized. "And for what I told you, it's a lie. You didn't say that", he confessed. "Thank you Jesus", I said smiling.
I just imagined her looking at me with the eye of what I said if it was actually true. That wouldn't be good. "Hey Sam, I know you're going to get along with everyone. But I must warn you. Be careful. Not everyone has a good intent for you, here in Nigeria. Not every boy is good and not every girl is good. There are some that are green snakes in green grass", he said, his grip on the bike seemed to tighten. "What happened to you?", I asked. "I used to have this best friend, Chima. I introduced him to my girlfriend and he snatched her away from me", he said. "Is that all?", I said laughing. "What's amusing you?", he asked. "It's just that you lack experience ", I told him. "Hmmn, you think you are dealing with US girls?", Julius said. "No, let me show you how it's done", I said.
