Chapter 2
It was much later that day when I rolled over into the world of awareness. Avi was pressed snugly against my back, a heavy arm around my waist and his breath on the back of my neck. I squirmed a bit, trying to move so I could get to the bathroom. I really had to pee, and no matter how good Avi's strong form felt, I couldn't ignore the call of nature.
"Avi?" A grumble was all that I heard before I felt a course beard rubbing against my ear. "Avi?" I questioned again.
He sighed, and the arm tightened around my waist. I squeaked as my bladder tightened in discomfort. "Avi, I really have to pee. Please let me go." The arm disappeared, and I jumped quickly out of bed and darted to my bathroom.
While I was there, I brushed my teeth and pulled my hair back into a ponytail. Then, I returned to the bed and crawled back in, facing Avi this time. His eyes were not open, but a slight smile appeared on his face when I ran my fingertips lightly across his jaw. "Hi."
"Hey, beautiful," he said. His voice was husky and incredibly low, more so than usual. I felt a blush cover my cheeks at the spark of arousal that shot through me.
"I would say 'good morning', but I do believe it is after noon."
"Does that mean we can eat lunch, now?"
I laughed. Of course his thoughts would be about food. "Yes. I'm sure that Rose has something fixed already."
He pulled me closer, wrapping both arms around me this time. "I don't want to move, though. I'm comfortable."
"I'm not about to have food in this bed, sir. You will have to get up if you want to eat."
Boldly, Avi nibbled on my earlobe. "I could always eat you."
If my face was red before, I was a freaking tomato now. I cleared my throat uncomfortably. I didn't know what to say. I didn't want Avi to think I wasn't interested. I certainly was, but I wasn't exactly comfortable with doing anything knowing that the other members of the band were right down the hall.
Luckily, I was saved. A loud, obnoxious knock sounded on my door. "Claire! Mitch wants to use your pool after lunch, and he demands we eat now!"
I rolled my eyes at Scott's words. Of course Mitch would order everyone around. "All right! We aren't dressed yet! Give us ten minutes, and we'll be down!"
"Don't distract her, Avi!" Kirstie called.
Avi laughed, and I went to put some clothes on. "Get dressed, you bum."
"I like yours much better," was his reply.
After breakfast, we made use of my outdoor pool and hot tub until the sun disappeared. We decided to have a movie night. Snacks and drinks littered my living room floor, and we were all in various positions underneath blankets and pillows. I gazed around me, content. I still could not believe that Pentatonix had flown out to visit me, but I was very happy they did. "Are you sure you guys are okay to stay a while? Will it interrupt your tour schedule? I don't want thousands of fans breathing fire down the back of my neck."
Mitch shook his head and took a sip from his champagne. "We have a break for almost three weeks. Staying here for a few days isn't going to mess anything up. You're safe."
"Besides, when the shows do start coming in rapid succession, there's no telling when we'll see you again," Scott commented.
Avi kissed my forehead and wrapped his arms around my waist. "You're stuck with us for a while, sweetheart."
I smiled up at him. "Well, I don't mind being around you. The others, however..."
Kevin gasped and grabbed his chest, pretending to be insulted. "Are you saying that my amazing cello skills are not enough for your attention? How dare you, Claire. And here I thought we were friends."
Kirstie nodded in agreement and made a move to stand. "I guess we'll be going, then. It was nice while it lasted."
I darted up out of my chair and grabbed her arm. "No! I didn't mean it! You're all important to me! Stay, please!"
The others started laughing, and a blush formed on my cheeks when I realized they were just playing with me. "Chill, girl. We still haven't seen your infamous game room yet. Mama is not going to leave until she scours every inch of this wonderful house."
Scott poked his head up. "You have a game room? Why have I not heard of this before? I need to get my MarioKart fix. I'm in withdrawal. Yoshi needs me."
"I'm pretty sure Yoshi is fine on his own," Kevin said.
"No!" Scott protested. "Yoshi and I are brothers!"
Avi frowned. "Fool, you playin'. Yoshi is my brother."
I cleared my throat. "This is my house. What I say goes. Therefore, I am the Queen, and you will listen to me. Shut up so we can finish the movie."
Kirstie and Kevin laughed as Scott and Avi pouted. I knew that their conversation wasn't over, but for now, I was simply glad they hadn't interrupted Quicksilver saving Clint's life.
