chapter three

Yes new chapter! I’ve finally been able to work on my stories. This week school was extra hard because of science -_- It’s possibly my second most hated subject, next to history, thankfully I don’t have history this semester :D Please enjoy this chapter and I’m going to try to post on the others too!

Third person’s pov

The room was still and quiet. The 3 jonin calmly looking back at the somewhat shocked Hokage. Kakashi didn’t need to look back to see Kiyoko’s face staring at the back of his head. Kiyoko was more than stunned of the request. She couldn't believe Kakashi trusted her that much and it looks as if Kurinei and Asuma were in on it.

Those 2 she had only met a week ago, Kakashi bringing them to a restaurant. He thought I would get along with more adults since I was mature for my age. She didn’t really say anything that was friendly or insulting to them. It was more of a neutral relationship. She was so used to hiding her emotioms around others it just came to her on instinct and the fact her loved ones passed away just made it worse.

Yet here she sees them standing up for her and encouraging Kakashi. Another warm feeling spread through Kiyoko. Her hand reached up to her shirt gripping it tightly. ‘Is this how you’re suppose to feel when a friend trust you?’ Her thoughts repeating themselves in her head.

“Are you sure about this Kakashi? It has only been a month since she has entered and you have that much faith in her?”

“Yes I do, Asuma and Kurinei agree with me. Kiyoko has the skill to stop them if she needs to and she will interfere when it is necessary. I assure you Lord Hokage she can do it, that is only if you pass her.”

“Asuma, Kurinei, do you concur with Kakashi about this notion?”

“Yes sir” they both stated.

“Hold on!”

Iruka’s voice made them all turn to him, including Kiyoko. He couldn’t allow this to a child, even if she is different from the others. He had heard there was a rogue ninja in the village and that she was carrying one of the legendary 7 mists swords.

At first, it frightened him. He was afraid this person would end up killing someone, terrified it could be a student of his. But when he actually saw her for the first time today, he had no idea it was a kid. She had a coldness to her. An impassive appearance that made her look heartless. If he hadn’t have looked closer he would have thought just that, but the look in her eyes made him think otherwise.

She tried to hide it with a murdurous stare but there were some people who could see past it. It was a scared, hopeless expression in them. She was indeed fragile but didn’t show it. That look was what made Kurinei and Asuma befriend her so quickly.

“You can’t possibly think of letting Kiyoko do this. It’s worse then suggesting the rookie genin for the chunin exams! This will definitely end up with her getting killed.”

“She was assassinating people before any of the rookie genin could pick up a kunai. I’m sure she can handle this simple test. It’ll be child’s play. Besides, she wasn’t even your student so you can’t talk about her ability.” Kakashi said casually.

“I don’t care! This is a sentence to death and I wont stand for an innocent girl like her to be-“

A hand placed over Iruka’s mouth stopped him from talking. He connected the arm to the younger ninja herself. She had been quiet through it all and observed the scene take place. Iruka, who had not even spoke with her, had defended her as if she was his own child. This village was breaking down her barrier.

“Iruka-san, I am very grateful that you would think of my satefy but I need to do this. Lord Hokage, I will accept the test if you allow it.”

“No matter what the costs you will do this?”

“I was trained for this kind of stuff. If it will show my loyalty to the village then I will do as you please.”

“Very well then, your test will begin 8 days from now. I will give you the information on it when you return on the eighth day.”

Kiyoko bowed her head in respect and disappeared from their sights.

Kiyoko’s pov

It had been 30 minutes and I couldn’t get my thoughts to clear. This test will decide everything for me. The possibility of me surviving and succeeding are probably average. I won’t know until a week. It would be easier if I knew what I would be doing but the Hokage wants to challenge me to see my potential.

A deep sigh left my lips. “I need to stop thinking of this. It’ll only make me nervous.”

Maybe Naruto will help distract me. So I set off to find the knuckle head ninja. After 10 minutes of searching for him, I found him with the rest of team seven and six other people. Three of them were just children that had to be academy students. The other three were genin from the Sand village, two teenagers and one about the same age as us.

There was an obvious tension between the groups. The academy students cowered behind Sakura and Naruto. Sasuke stood in front of all of them glaring at the red head from the sand. They were both analyzing the other.

There was a tree that was right beside them so I transported to it. I could hear what they were saying now.

“You identify yourself!” Sasuke yelled.

The blond from the sand village turned with a blush on her cheeks. I never understood how women could fall in love with men. It always confused me but soon I just figured some girls were just plain stupid.

“Who me?” she said flirtaciously.

“No the guy with the gourd on his back.”

The teenagers seemed to freeze at the mention of their team mate. Fear was evident in their eyes. What could be so frightening about this kid? I could only see his back since it was turned to me but his face was hidden. The answer came to me quickly once he face my way. The way he gazed at someone as if they were nothing and he could just kill them right then. The bloodlust was dormant right now but it could spring up at any moment if it wanted to. The only way a person of that age could be like that is because he had a pained childhood. Just how many people will I meet with the same look I have?

“My name is Gaara of the Desert. I’m curious about you too, who are you?”

“I am Sasuke Uchiha.” An arrogant smirk on his face.

The boy named Gaara stared at him for a second longer before speaking, “And who are you with the giant sword?”

His eyes moved to me which made everyone turn to me. The others showed startled looks. Sasuke’s shock turned to a glare. ‘I didn’t even sense her. She’s so fast.’

“Kiyoko is my name. You must be here for the Chunin exams.”

He nodded. He examined me very closely. I did the same to him. There’s something about him that is odd. His chakra looks fused with something. It’s the same with Naruto. Does this have something to do with the reason they have that painful look?

“Whoa how did you know about the Chunin exams Nikita?” Naruto asked.

“Kakashi told me about them.”

“Really? Then are you going to be in it?” Sakura asked.

“No, I’ll be busy doing something else. The Hokage has planned some business for me so I won’t be taking the exam.”

“Do you know if Kakashi is letting us take it?” Sasuke asked.

“I’m afraid I can’t say. That’s confidential information.”

Kakashi probably wanted to tell them himself. Besides, Naruto will probably glomp me and I don’t really want that happening.

“It’s too bad you’re not in it. I would love to fight you.” The sand ninja said. He had a thing on his back wrapped in gauze. Hair was sticking out from the top of it.

Gaara turned around and said, “Let’s go.”

One last glance in my direction and he jumped away with his team. If he’s going to be in the Chunin exams let’s hope he doesn’t fight any of the rookie genin. From behind me I could hear Naruto asking one of the kids a question.

“Hey Konohamaru am I lame?” Naruto fairly whispered.

“Well compared to Sasuke and that other girl you’re pretty lame.”

Naruto groaned at the comment. He remembered I was here and turned to me with a grin. “Hey Kiyoko this is Konohamaru and his gang.”

The little girl of the group was reluctant when she came over. It’s possible that she’s heard the rumors or maybe it’s Zabuza-sama’s sword. She’s probably the age of when I was out on the streets. Subconsciously unknowing, my features had softened. I set aside the Executioner’s blade against the fence and knelt down to the little girl. She didn’t look as scared as before. It made me happy to know that.

“My names Kiyoko. I hope Naruto has been really nice to you.”

Once the girl saw this, she instantly warmed up to me. Her name was Moegi and the other boy was Udon. They asked me many questions that I answered politely. While I was talking to them, I didn’t noticed Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke were watching with wonder.

Naruto’s pov

Wow Kiyoko’s actually using some emotions. When we first got here, she didn’t really smile or anything, heck she barely talked unless spoken to. Now look at her, she’s starting to open up to others beside us. This is only the first step and hopefully the villagers will accept her. It’s pretty easy to tell they aren’t liking she’s here. I’d be kinda scared of her too with that sword on her back, but that sword is one of the last things she has to remember Zabuza by. It’s gotta mean a lot to her.

“Kiyoko’s doing really well. I hope this means she’s finally starting to feel better.” Sakura muttered.

I hope so too. I’ll make sure she isn’t treated like I was when I was younger. Haku’s counting on me to take care of her and teach her about friendship. I promise I will make that happen. I won’t ever give up, that’s my ninja way! Believe it!

I hope you guys liked it! I’m going to post on 2 other stories of mine too. The ‘Long Lost Friend’ vampire knight story and ‘A craving for Revenge’ naruto story. Thanks for all your support, I couldn’t have done it without you. J
