Chapter 11
TW: mention of SH wounds and panic attacks
Percy rushed to stand up, hiding his arm and the rock behind his back. "Apollo?"
"Perce, can I see your arm please?" Apollo walked closer, with each step Percy backing away.
"I..I can't. I'm sorry." Percy looked away, tears building back up in his eyes. He gripped the rock until ichor began to drip from it.
"Percy can I have the rock please?" Apollo asked, how he knew it was a rock amazed Percy but also scared him. Did he watch? When did he show up? "Baby, please? I promise I'm not mad."
Percy fell to his knees nodding, tears were endless as he sobbed louder and louder. Apollo rushed forwards, taking away the rock and throwing it away from them. He gripped Percy into a tight hug. "Ssshhh, its okay. Breathe." Apollo coaxed him into breathing slower.
"Why?"
"Why what, baby?"
"Why do you care so much? Why do you stay when your saving me over and over again from myself." Percy sobbed into Apollo's shoulder. He pushed Percy until he could see Percy's face.
"Look at me." Percy met his eyes, "I will never leave you. Never. No matter how broken you think you are. No matter how much you fall I will always be there to pick you up. I love you."
Percy sobbed with relief, and hugged Apollo again before wincing when his arm rubbed against Apollo's clothes. Apollo rubbed his forearm before grabbing the arm he cut and looking at it. Percy could tell he felt saddened by the sight of it and tried to pull his arm away when Apollo put his hand on top of it and started to glow.
"I will always pick you up when you fall, no matter how far down."
Poseidon watched from the edge of the garden. He wished he could have helped his son, but he knew in this instance he wouldn't have helped at all.
"Uncle."
"Dionysus."
"He is going to be okay."
"I know, he's fought gods, titans, and primordials and came out on top." Poseidon watched as Percy sobbed into Apollos shoulder, "But this isn't a thing he can kill, this is his mind. How do you help someone fight their own mind?"
"By being there. Support is the greatest weapon against mental battles." Dionysus said gesturing towards Apollo and Percy.
Apollo really didn't know how much more he could mentally take, but for Percy he would take dozens more before he would let himself crumble. He couldn't let Percy fall, if he saw him fall Apollo didn't know if he would survive.
As he teleported them to his temple, he wished he could have hugged Percy longer because he could hear him being summoned to the council. And right now that was something he didn't know if Percy could bear dealing with at this moment.
"Percy? Father wants to see you." Apollo whispered.
"Okay." He could hear the broken tone in Percy's voice. "Lets go."
"If you don't want to go, we don't have to. I will take the punishment."
The sight of Apollo falling from Olympus flashed through Percy's head and he shuddered. "No lets go, we can't ignore a summons."
"You sure?" Before Percy could answer they were both flashed to the council hall.
"Told you." Percy said before turning towards Zeus.
"Perseus, I heard you caused a storm through the town and New York. Is this true?"
Percy looked amazed, this is what this was for. To critical him for a weak moment.
"I guess, I am not quit sure what I did in that moment." This turned out to be the wrong thing to say.
"You mean to tell me you caused a Category four hurricane without realizing?"
"Yes?"
Poseidon stood up, "He wasn't mentally aware at the time brother. Please understand this."
"I thought he was getting training to stop this from happening, brother." Zeus sneeded.
"I am training him, but-"
Zeus cut him off, "But? What? Your not enough to train him to control his abilities?"
Poseidon grounded his teeth, "I am enough. But it takes time, even we had to take time learn."
Zeus glared, the room filling with O-zone, "Don't you dare talk back."
"But that's how you have a conversation." Percy whispered, or he thought he whispered.
"Perseus!" Zeus yelled.
"Percy!" Poseidon yelled.
"Percy!" Apollo and Hermes yelled, trying not to laugh.
Percy didn't understand what this argument was even about. He understood he needed training, but he was actively being trained. He understood his father was training him, but they have been making slow progress since his mind is a mess. Was he the issue? Both issues are because of him?
"Perce?" He heard Apollo ask, as his breath sped up.
"Hey look at me." Percy looked up, meeting Apollo's eyes. "Good, now follow my breathing."
"In." Apollo breathed in, "Out." He breathed out, Percy slowly starting to follow. "In and out." Percy was starting to breath slower. "Good one more time, in and out."
By now they have caught the attention of the rest of the council, concern lacing all their faces. "If this is what has caused the hurricane then Kym needs to teach him how to stop them." Apollo said towards Poseidon, facing Percy. Poseidon nodded, he really needed to talk to his daughter about this.
A/N: This is sadly not the end of this arc, lots of more chapters when it comes to mentally ill Percy. You have to hit rock bottom before you climb up.
