Chapter Twenty-six
"Is everything alright, Saira?"
Shyra was worried about her friend but she also knew that Saira needed some space before telling what happened before she left their hometown.
After they arrived at the apartment building, Imran helped Saira with her luggage which wasn't much as it seemed she had packed in a hurry.
"The landlord already gave me the keys and it is ready for you to move in," Shyra tells her friend trying to cheer her up. "Ayra helped decorate it, right?" she added trying to involve the little girl to get Saira's reaction.
"That's amazing, I can't wait to see it..."
"Why dont you tell her what you did for her at the apartment, Ayra?" Imran says looking at Shyra who smiles at him.
"Okay, let's go ahead," Ayra says taking Saira's hands and dragging her to the elevator.
"Thank you for doing that. I have no idea what happened to her. She is the life of the group and she usually cheers us up and not the other way around," Shyra explains as they both watch how Ayra starts to make Saira laugh and smile.
They watched until the elevator door closed.
"You dont need to thank me. I understand how important your friends are to you and you want them to be happy. But everyone has their own story to tell," Imran explained as they walked to the elevator waiting for the door to open." And when she ready to tell you, then she will tell you. But for now, you just need to make her happy," he added smiling.
"Okay and how did you know that the person to cheer her up was Ayra?" Shyra asks him out of curiosity.
"Because she would cheer me up whenever I felt down," he explained to her. "When it's her mother's birthday, or when I remembered my past," He added as they walked inside the elevator.
"She is lucky to have you in her life. You became her father..."
"My parents wanted her to live with them but I couldn't let her go the moment I held her in my arms. I knew that I had to protect her from the cruel world and from people like her father," Imran explained to her. "My sister and I were very close growing up even though she was older than me. She would help with my homework and protect me. I want to do the same for Ayra," he added smiling.
"Sometimes things work out the way Allah has planned and not the way we planned," Shyra tells him. " My Aunt Hayat always told us those words," she added making Imran understand what she meant.
"She seems like a wise woman ma shaa Allah. One day I would love to meet her in shaa Allah," Imran says surprising Shyra.
The elevator stopped at their floor, and they got out and headed to the new apartment. As Shyra had given Saira the keys when she left with Ayra.
As they approached it, they could hear laughter from inside, they both looked at each other smiling. They knew that the right person to cheer up Saira was Ayra.
"Do you think that Dad will marry Shyra?" Ayra asks Saira making both Shyra and her father look at each other in shock.
"What do you mean by that Ayra?" Saira asks the little girl.
"Because I want him to be happy and he is when she is around. That is why I want her to always with us," Ayra explained.
It was quiet for a while and then Saira spoke up and said; " Have you told your father about this or even asked him how he feels about Shyta?" Saira asks Ayra.
"I dont want him to think that I want Shyra to be my Mamma just because he is sad. I want her as my Mamma because of the way she makes me feel and the way she treats us. I love her as she loves me," Ayra explained to her.
Imran was quiet and couldn't even look at Shyra because of what his daughter was saying. He knew that Ayra would notice how he was in front of Shyra.
But he never expected her to tell Saira about it.
Shyra moved closer to the door put a smile on her face and then walked inside the apartment.
"Hey, guys. So Saira how do you like the apartment and decorations?" She asks them with a smile on her face.
"Well, all I can say is that Ayra is a very talented young lady, ma shaa Allah. And i love how you kept some books for me to read. So thank you so much for decorating the apartment," Saira says pulling both Ayra and Shyra into a hug.
"You are most welcome, and now it is time for us to have lunch. Shyra, where's dad?" Ayra says asking while looking at the door.
"He..."
"I am right here. I just went to grab something from our apartment. How do you find the place, Saira? I hope you like it," he says interrupting Shyra.
"It is beautiful Ma shaa Allah and I love the decore that Ayra had kept for me. So thank you again for doing this," Saira says smiling at them.
"Okay now let's have some lunch and then we will leave Saira to get some rest before we take her out for dinner," Shyra says taking the bags of takeaway food to the dinner table.
"I will help you," Ayra says getting up from the couch.
"Okay thank you."
"You have a great daughter. She is lucky to have you..."
"I am the lucky one to have her. But she can be a handful when wants something. I know that I am a stranger that you just met and I have no right to advise but all I can say is that Shyra spoke highly of you and the other best friends," Imran says. "And I can see that something is bothering you. Explain to her what is wrong to calm her down," he added as Ayra called them to have lunch as the table had already been set.
As they sat down, Saira couldn't help but think of the words that Imran just told her and he was right. She needed Shyra's advice and support especially when Azaan would send the divorce papers.
She would need a job and support from her because of her unborn baby. This baby was a miracle because she thought she wouldn't be able to be a mother after her first miscarriage which was caused by Faryal and the unknown enemy.
After lunch, Ayra and Imran went back to their apartment and left the two friends to talk.
"Are you okay?" Shyra asked her friend as they were in her room.
"I am not okay and I do not think I will ever be but I will try for my baby," Saira says to her.
"I am going to be an aunt. Congratulations Saira. May Allah bless you and Azaan..."
"Azaan and I are no longer together. He chose to believe lies and kicked me out of the house," Saira explained to her friend.
"Is everything alright, Saira?" Shyra asks her hoping that what she heard from her friend was wrong.
"I will tell you everything but dont interrupt me, okay?"
"Yes, i promise".
Saira started explaining how everything was at the time she married Azaan and why he married her in the first place. And then she explained everything about Faryal and how she was connected with everything that happened in her life.
"And two days ago, someone sent him pictures that were modified of me and Fahd. The pictures were filthy and I didnt even look at them," Saira explained as tears fell from her face. "And the last straw was him saying things about me infront of his parents. He said that Fahd has been my lover and we want to take money from him," she added.
"What did Aunt Sameera say?" Shyra asks her as she hands her a glass of water.
Saira drank the water and handed Shyra back the glass of water.
"They were angry. But I told them never to forsake their long friendship with Mamma Hayat and Dad. And I told them mwhere I will be going to plus I doubt that anyone would tell Azaan where I will be. Not even Iman who is angry at him," She explained to her. "And I didn't even get to tell him about the baby, so he might never know about it. And now I am just waiting for the papers that he will send through my parents," she added taking a deep breath.
"I am here for you and so is Ayra..."
"What do you think of Imran?" Saira asks.
"What do you mean?"
"Shy, you know what I mean. You can tell me anything, you know that right? So tell me what do you think?"
"I..."
"You are scared that he might hurt you. From the moment I met him, I knew that he had feelings for you but he won't act upon them because he respects you too much to even think of hurting you," she explained to her. "I know that your heart and soul might never be the same but sometimes it takes an angel to heal you but in your case two angels," she added with a smile.
"Fear will keep me from doing a lot of things in my life..."
"Yes, thats true but only if you let it. Remember what Mamma Hayat told us. She said, if you let fear rule over you then your life will be ruled by it. The only way to conquer it is to show that you deserve what you have in life. And she was right".
"She is right but I still have the future to face with getting back to our hometown and getting the justice that I need. I dont want to let them or anyone win, Saira. Maybe when I am ready, then my heart and soul will also be ready and they will decide who I should be with me," Shyra explained to her friend.
Sometimes it takes that one friend to open our eyes to see what is right in front of us. They know us better than we know ourselves. They guide us to be who we always wanted to be in our lives and better too.
