Melissa has been missing for seven days now.
No one can figure out what happened to her.

Mom and dad are total wrecks.

They hang fliers up on every lamppost in town with pictures of Melissa on them.

They go up to strangers in the grocery store and ask if they've seen Melissa.

Mom insisted that I dye my hair, in case someone saw me and mistook me for Melissa.

We choose a honey blonde color.
Even after I've washed my hair, the smell of the hair dye sticks around for a few days.

Her friend Kagiso is missing too.

I haven't gone back to school since Melissa disappeared.
Mostly I just sit in my bedroom and stare up at the ceiling.

Mom sits on the couch and sobs uncontrollably from dusk until dawn.

Dad is angry all the time for no reason.

I feel like my parents are so worried about what happened to Millie that they don't have time for me.

Once we've reached the ten day mark, mom gets a call from the police.

They've found Melissa.

I am so relieved.

Until I find out that they found the body of what was once Melissa.
They found Kagiso's body too.

Mom and dad don't tell me everything, but they don't need to.

The newspapers publish articles about it.
Melissa's body was found in a shack in the woods.
Her body had been mutilated.
Apparently her eyes and tongue were removed.
The same thing happened to Kagiso.

After that, the stories got strange.

Some people claimed to have seen Kagiso, Melissa and Sienna roaming around the town.

Some people claimed to have seen Sienna walk through the streets of the town with young children in her walking behind her.

Some people claimed to have seen Melissa stand at the foot of their beds in the middle of the night.

Some people claimed to have seen Kagiso stand outside of their front doors for no reason.

I've seen Melissa.
She sits on the bed that used to be hers and she watches me sleep all night.
It's not the same Melissa from before.
It's closer to Sienna than it is to Melissa.
Her eyes are hollowed out and worms crawl out of the sockets.
Her mouth has been sewn shut.
