Chapter 66
Anti's POV
Dark and I stood with Felix clinging unto us sobbing for around five minutes. Felix was holding onto us so tightly I thought he would end up blocking my breathing.
However, he soon released his grip and wiped his eyes with a smile on his face. Dark seemed pleased with himself for deciding to force the three of us to hug. I, on the other hand, was a bit more worried about everyone else.
"I'm glad that we cleared all of that up, and don't think that I'm not gonna punch your dad the next time I see him, but shouldn't we be a little more concerned about Mark, Jack, and everyone else down in the dungeon?" I inquired.
Felix's slightly swollen eyes widened. "We need to go help them. Last I heard, Cry was going down there to deal with them."
Felix and I began rushing back to the staircase, but Dark stopped us. "I've got a better plan."
I stared at him. "You've got a plan?"
He looked offended. "And what's so weird about that?! It was my idea to come here-"
"Ya know what, forget I mentioned it. What's the plan?"
"I think we should try to find Percy."
I exchanged glances with Felix. "So we're just leaving everyone else down in the dungeon? They could die!"
"Percy will die unless we do something." He noticed my hesitation and added, "We have to trust that they can handle themselves. I mean, it's three demons and three humans against Cry. They should be fine."
I nodded slowly before looking at Felix. "You said just a bit ago that your dad ordered Percy to be moved somewhere else. Do you know where?"
"The courtyard," he answered before muttering, "I said that the first time, but whatever."
"What's the quickest way to the courtyard?" I asked, ignoring his comment.
"Shouldn't you know that?" He chuckled. "I mean, you two lived here for nineteen years."
"We never tried to interrupt an execution in those nineteen years," Dark replied.
"I don't think there was an execution in those nineteen years," I added.
Felix nodded. "I'm not sure, but it definitely wasn't publicized if there was one. The courtyard's this way!"
Felix swiveled around and ran off in the direction he entered from. Dark and I followed closely behind, hoping that if a guard saw us, they would also see Felix and shrug it off.
We sprinted down a hallway, the very hallway my old room was in. I ignored the thousands of memories from my childhood storming my mind. I felt my eyes begin to tear up, and I cluelessly wondered why I was getting so emotional.
Deciding to blame nostalgia, I blinked back the tears and continued chasing after Felix. We made a right turn, then stopped for a moment in front of a door.
"A staircase?" Dark asked, taking deep breaths.
"Yeah, the courtyard's down on the first floor," Felix replied.
"I know that, but why are we taking the stairs? You have a plan for getting Percy out?"
Felix nodded. "As much as I'd love to simply dive out the window and let my wings carry me, I've been locked in my room for some time now. My appearance is going to throw off any guard or knight we see."
"We're using you as a distraction so we can save Percy?" Dark asked.
Felix opened his mouth to reply, but I spoke first, "Did you just say you were locked in your room? Why? And why did you just now escape?"
Felix chuckled nervously to himself. "I'm still not completely sure why I was locked up. All I know is that my dad was the one to do it. That begs the question as of why he would feel the need to do that. I personally have decided that he felt threatened by me."
Dark nodded. "Yeah, everyone in the Underworld loved you until the news of Percy's execution got out. Everyone, including us, was convinced that you had made the decision."
"I'm not sure if that's why, though. I mean, my dad completely vanished about three months ago. No one has any idea where he is or what he's doing. The last orders he gave were for Percy to be killed and for me to be locked up."
"It sounds like your dad's been planning something." I paused while my eyes widened. "Do either of you find it awfully suspicious that three humans appeared about three months after the King of the Underworld's father disappeared?"
"Are you suggesting that Felix's dad is in the human world?" Dark asked.
I shrugged, remembering my journey to the human world. "I didn't see, nor hear of him being there while I was there, but I don't think we should rule it out as an option."
Felix sighed, "I don't know where he is, but I'm positive he's causing trouble. Hopefully we figure all of this out soon."
"Agreed," Dark and I replied together.
I quickly added, "Why did you decide to escape your room today, though?"
"Believe it or not, the door was unlocked today. What's making me more skeptical is the fact that we haven't seen any knights yet. Something definitely isn't right," Felix answered.
I shivered. "All the more reason to rescue Percy quicker."
"Can I recommend something?" Dark asked.
Felix shrugged. "Knock yourself out."
"When you make your grand entrance to distract everyone in the courtyard, you'll be on live television, right? Everyone in the Underworld will see you."
"What's your point?" Felix questioned.
"As part of the distraction, I think you should explain everything that's happened to you. Also, bring up how much of a dickhead your father is."
"And how much you love your bestest friends!" I exclaimed.
Dark nodded excitedly before Felix answered, "Only if you let me talk about Thomas, Mark, and Jack. Humans aren't at all bad, they're honestly pretty funny to watch!"
I exchanged glances with Dark. "How do you know about Thomas, Mark, and Jack?"
"My only source of entertainment the past few months has been certain knights who like me telling me funny stories about the humans. I've heard most everything about what's happening with the orphanage, as well as Mark's daring rescue mission for his 'best friend'."
"Why'd you emphasize-"
"Moving on!" Dark yelled before I got the chance to ask my question. "You can talk about those courageous humans all you want, but we really do need to save Percy before noon."
Felix smirked at Dark, but didn't pry any more than he had. "Sure thing Red Head, just follow me down to the courtyard."
Dark grimaced at the nickname, but didn't comment on it. I helped myself to that opportunity. "'Red Head'? Awe! I need a cute nickname for you!" I teased.
"What about Darkimoo?" Felix suggested as he opened the door to the staircase.
Dark blushed slightly as I laughed, "It's perfect! Felix, I've missed this friendship."
"I've never wanted to be at Dan and Phil's house so much in my entire life," Dark grumbled.
"Awe, don't be so glum, Darkimoo!" I cheered jokingly as I followed Felix down the stairs.
"Yeah, Red Head! Besides, even if you went to Dan and Phil's house, I could just summon you back here. Don't forget, I am the king."
"Power rules all!" I yelled as I high-fived Felix.
Dark jogged down the stairs to Felix and me, then sighed, "I can't even begin to explain how much I hate the two of you."
"I thought we were all bestest friends?" Felix pouted before chuckling to himself.
I nudged Dark's arm. "We're just teasing. I know full well that you could punch me unconscious whenever you feel like it. I wouldn't want to make ya mad!"
He rolled his eyes. "Whatever you say, dork."
"He's an Irish dork," Felix put in. "That's practically a whole new species of dork."
"And you're just a Swedish pussy," I murmured under my breath.
I was relieved to find that Felix hadn't heard my reply. I would have hated to upset the king. However, Dark could hardly hide his laugh by covering it up with a cough.
We soon reached a platform at the bottom of the stairs. I smiled brightly as we approached the door. Felix turned around to face us. "Wait until everyone's paying attention to me before you charge out to get Percy."
Dark and I agreed before Felix turned back around and opened the door a bit.
Just in time for us to hear the clock tower strike noon.
