Chapter 58

Mark's POV

Thomas and Logan walked ahead of me and Jack, toward the omelet section of the buffet. Since Jack and I weren't quite sure what to get, we made our way toward the cereal section at the end. I grabbed a bowl and milk from the counter and swiped a small box of Froot Loops off of the shelf.

I turned my head slightly to the left to find Jack studying the cereals. "What's up?" I asked.

He sighed, "I can't decide on a cereal. Something tells me this is going to be the last proper meal we have for a while, and I want it to be good."

I looked at the cereal and subtlety smirked to myself. "Why don't you just grab a box of Lucky Charms?"

Jack glared at me, and in an over exaggerated Irish accent, he asked, "Why? So we can follow it to te end of te rainbow and escape this hell?"

I shrugged. "Not a bad plan, but we agreed to help out demon Percy first."

"Speaking of which," Jack began, going back to his normal voice, "did you ever find out where Percy is because Logan wouldn't tell me anything."

"Thomas told me that he's locked up at the king's castle in a dungeon. I was told that Thomas and Logan are going to take us there after breaking us out."

Jack grabbed a box of Lucky Charms off of the shelf. "Alright, let's go find them and figure out the details of the plan."

I nodded my head, and the two of us began making our way back toward the omelet station, where Thomas and Logan had been putting together omelets. Once we saw them, we jogged up to them. "What're you two–"

"Mark! Jack!" Thomas interrupted me. "Look at this guy flipping omelets!"

Jack and I exchanged glances before he stepped forward a bit. "I thought we all came here to talk over the, uh–"

"Stuff," I stepped in as Jack paused due to the demon staring at him.

Thomas looked slightly confused, but Logan nudged him and asked, "Right, what table are we sitting at?"

Jack and I turned around to face the giant cafeteria. I saw a table a ways from the entrance and suggested that we sat there. Thomas and Logan agreed, got their food, and followed me and Jack to the table.

The four of us took our seats and began eating our food. Logan explained the plan once he was finished, "The first thing we have to do is break you two out of here. Thomas parked his car out in front of the prison. We're going to blend in with the crowd of demons going back to their cells, but continue making our way passed the cells to the stairs."

"The stairs will take us passed the guards down to the back entrance," Thomas added.

"Right," Logan continued, "once we get there, there should be another set of guards at the exit. We need to either take them out or convince them that Thomas and I are relocating you two," he directed at me and Jack.

Jack and I glanced at each other before Jack asked, "Is there a plan for convincing them?"

"Not unless you two can make one up within the next ten minutes," Thomas replied.

After a couple seconds of silence, I asked, "Couldn't you just say that the king wants us locked up in his dungeon instead of the prison?"

"That would work, except we would need something signed by the king to do that," Logan answered.

"So, I take it we're taking the 'take them out' route?" Jack guessed.

"Sounds that way," Thomas replied as he stood up with his tray. "I'm gonna go find a trash can."

"Me too," Logan stated as he stood up.

"We'll wait here," Jack mumbled as Thomas and Logan walked away.

"Do you think either of them is going to be able to 'take someone out'?" I chuckled lightly.

Jack laughed back, "No, but it sure will be entertaining to watch them try. Plus, once they fail, I'll get to show off my awesome muscles!"

"I bet they aren't as great as my muscles!" I joked as I flexed.

Jack's face was tinted a light shade of pink, but he ignored it as he stood up and flexed back. "You wish your muscles–"

"What the heck are you two fighting over?" Thomas chuckled as he approached the table.

Jack sat back down. "Nothing important."

I laughed, "If it wasn't important, why'd you put up so much of a fight?"

Jack rolled his eyes. "I have my reasons." He turned his head toward Thomas and Logan. "You two find a trash can?"

"Yeah," Logan pointed toward the buffet table, "it's over there."

"Alright, I'm gonna go throw my bowl away. I'll meet you guys back here," Jack stated.

"I'll go too," I added as I swiped my bowl and empty box of Froot Loops off of the table.

I followed Jack to the buffet table and threw away my stuff. On our way back, he asked, "How are we supposed to break Percy out of the dungeon at the king's castle?"

I thought for a moment. "I'm not sure. We'll probably make a plan on our way there."

"Yeah, but what are we supposed to do? If he's in the king's castle, won't he have a ton of guards keeping us away?"

"Probably," I murmured. "Let's just trust Thomas and Logan. Since they work here, I bet they have a pass or something. I'm sure they have a plan."

"If they don't, we might die."

"I don't know about you, but there's no way I'm dying in hell," I claimed as we approached the table.

A bit of light came to Jack's eyes. "Yeah? Me either."

We sat down at the table and immediately, Logan stood up. "You ready to go?"

"Yeah, are we leaving right now?" Jack asked.

"We have to blend in with the crowd, and everyone's leaving right now," Thomas explained.

Jack and I exchanged glances before I replied, "Alright, let's go."

Immediately after I stood up, a blinding light filled the cafeteria. Not a second later, a deafening explosion sounded from the same direction. The cafeteria shook and filled with smoke. My ears were overtaken by a loud ringing sound, and I barely heard Jack scream, "This wasn't the plan!"

"Of course it wasn't!" Logan yelled back. "I don't know what's going on, but it makes a perfect distraction! Let's get out of here!"

The smoke began to slowly clear out, and I turned to face Thomas and Logan. The four of us started to dash out of the cafeteria but stopped when a voice came over a speaker. "Would all the humans please make their way to the large hole in the wall."

I looked at Jack. "What should we do?"

He stared at me with wide eyes. "What do you mean?! We need to get the hell out of here!"

The smoke continued clearing out of the room. I could almost clearly see the huge hole in the cafeteria wall. There was, what seemed to be, a black van outside the wall. Four people were standing outside of the van with an animal.

I watched as one of the people brought something up to their mouth. Again, a voice sounded over the speakers, "Would all humans please make their way to the hole in the wall–"

I watched as one of the other people snatched the microphone out of the person's hand. A different voice was on the speaker, "Mark and Jack, we know you're in there. Come to the wall, or Percy's going to die a hell of a lot sooner than he's supposed to."

I exchanged a quick glance with Jack, but neither of us moved. The first person to speak grabbed the microphone back. "If you don't come to the hole, we're sending in our bloodhound."

"Run," Thomas decided before breaking into a dead sprint for the entrance of the cafeteria. Logan followed him closely behind, but Jack and I were frozen in place.

We stood there, staring out the hole until the animal began running toward us. Jack and I turned around and broke into a wild dash for the cafeteria entrance.

However, we weren't faster than the animal.

It jumped onto my back, knocking me over. I let out a yell, causing Jack to whirl around. Thomas and Logan began running back toward me. I covered my head from the animal, but slowly turned over when I heard a familiar bark.

"Chica–"

"Mark, what's your dog doing in the Underworld?" Jack asked, smiling as he dove onto the ground and began scratching her.

I gently pushed Chica off of me. "I'm not sure, but she looks as cute as ever!" I yelled as I tackled her in a hug.

"Wait, this is your dog?" Thomas asked.

"Yeah!" I cheered, Jack and I scratching her all over.

"How'd your dog–"

"Chica! I trained you to attack!" a familiar voice laughed.

I bolted upright, slightly throwing Jack off of me. "Anti?!"

A/N

I have nothing to say.

I am in a state of complete satisfaction.

Hope you all are having a good day.

Anyways, BUH-BYE BROTATOES!
