Chapter 35

Mark's POV

I looked at Anti, who's face was still bright red, and asked, "What am I supposed to do now?"

Phil sprung up off the bed and ran to the window. He pulled the curtains out of the way to look outside. His smile disappeared and was replaced by a look of shock. "It's dark out?"

"What?" Dan asked as he walked up to Phil.

"Well, what time is it?" I asked.

"No," Anti started, "that has nothing to do with it. There's no sun down here."

"Then how do you have light?" I questioned.

"Without going into detail, the sky is basically on fire," Phil answered.

"Oh, yeah, that makes sense," I responded sarcastically.

"It doesn't have to make sense. That's just how it's been ever since–"

"Nothing!" Anti cut Dan off.

"What?" Dan asked.

"Nothing! Ever since nothing! It's always been like that!" Anti replied.

Dan looked like he was about to say something else, but Phil spoke before he could, "Uh, right."

I decided I'd ask Anti what he was talking about later and commented, "So, when am I getting those contact lenses from Phil?"

"Yes! Why don't we worry about the problem at hand instead of random historic crap?" Anti exclaimed.

Dan and Phil glanced at each other before Phil stepped forward. "Yeah, alright. Umm, Anti? Can I talk to you for a second?"

Anti looked at me before following Phil into hallway, leaving Dan and me alone. Dan shifted uncomfortably before acknowledging me.

"So, you're here to find Anti's alter ego?"

"Yeah, his name's Jack," I muttered.

"Right, but that means that you came from the human world?"

"Yeah–"

"Do you know mine and Phil's alter egos?" Dan asked, intrigued.

"Well, uh, yes? I guess I'm friends with them, why?" I responded.

"Super weird question, but do they like each other?"

My eyes widened slightly as I looked at Dan to find his face a vibrant shade of red. "Why would you be interested in their friendship?"

Dan chuckled, "Wow, Anti really didn't explain anything to you, huh?"

"What are you talking about?"

"You see, us demons down here and our alter egos up there all have the same feelings toward the same people. For example, if the human versions of Dan and Phil liked each other, so would the demon versions. If the demon versions of Dan and Phil liked each other, then so would the humans."

"Are you saying that you want to know if the human versions of Dan and Phil are in a relationship because it would mean the Phil down here likes you?"

Dan giggled, "Nah, I already know that the Phil down here likes me. I'm interested to know if they came out to each other yet."

My jaw dropped slightly as I realized what he meant. "Does that mean–"

"That Phil and I are in a relationship?" Dan finished for me. "Why yes, indeed it does! Though, there's more to us than that."

Before I had a chance to ask what he meant, Anti and Phil walked back into the room. I noticed Dan smile at Phil as Phil's eyes widened slightly.

"Oh would you two stop already?" Anti asked while rolling his eyes.

"Stop what?" Dan questioned innocently.

"Can we just get down to business?" Phil started. "What are we gonna do about Nate and the others?"

"Others?" I asked.

Phil glared at Anti for a moment before he stated, "You didn't tell him."

"Tell me what?" I interrogated.

"Hold on a minute, Anti didn't tell you about who all lives here?" Dan asked in disbelief.

"I told him who lives here!" Anti defended. "I told him that you two live here, Dark and I live here, and that Nate and Jason live here."

After a short pause, Dan continued, "So, you didn't tell him everyone that lives here."

"Well, who else lives here?" I asked before I got an idea. "Does Felix live here?"

Dan and Phil froze on the spot, but Anti was quick with an answer, "I told you already, none of us have ever even heard of that guy."

Dan gulped before glancing at Phil. I sent him a confused glance, causing him to laugh nervously, "Felix? Never heard of him, sorry."

"Alright," I stated, deciding to go along with them for now, "then who else lives with you guys?"

Anti put his hand on my shoulder. "I think it'd be best to explain this after everyone wakes up tomorrow. How long has it been since you've had a proper nights sleep?"

I tried to think back, but I couldn't focus. "I don't know, a couple days probably."

"Alright, then you need to go get some sleep," Phil decided. "Tomorrow I'll show you my contacts and Dan and Anti can keep Dark busy."

"Yeah," Dan agreed, "how hard can it be?"

"In that case, I'll go find a place for Mark to sleep while you two go take care of and distract the kids," Anti explained.

"Yeah, sure," Dan stated before he and Phil left the room.

I stared at Anti for a moment before he caught me. "What?"

"Why does everyone get weird when I mention Felix?"

"Mark, I told you already. We don't know who he is."

"Yeah, but why did you guys act strangely just because I said the name of someone you don't know?"

Anti sighed, "That's just the thing. We don't know him."

"So what?"

"Mark, everyone down here knows everyone that their alter ego knows. None of us know Felix. That either means that Dark knows something that the rest of us don't, or that he isn't in the Underworld."

"I'm assuming that you guys trust Dark and would expect him to tell you about stuff like this. Not to mention Jack, Dan, and Phil know Felix in the human world, so you guys would know him too."

"That's what's freaking us out," Anti stated with a tone of relief.

"So where would his alter ego be?"

Anti paused for a moment before continuing, "The only reason his alter ego wouldn't be here is if he died in the human world."

Now, I was the one frozen on the spot. After a few minutes, I managed to breathe out, "Felix is dead?"

Anti closed his eyes and took in a deep breath. "Unfortunately, that's the only thing that makes sense." After roughly ten minutes went by of us standing in silence, Anti decided that we should find a place for me to sleep for the night. I nodded my head and followed him out of the room.

"Make sure you stay silent. Those kids can hear just about anything," Anti warned.

I simply nodded my head again, too busy thinking about the fact that Felix might be dead to focus on what Anti was telling me.

We snuck down the hallway, walking passed the turn that led to Nate's room. We continued to a new hallway where Anti said his room was.

He opened the door and walked into the room, dragging me with him. He slowly closed the door, then turned on the lights. The room has bright green walls with black swirls everywhere. Hoodies and skinny jeans were scattered across the floor and a full-size bed was placed in a corner of the room.

Anti's name was sloppily spray painted over his bed frame in black. When he saw me looking at it, he simply stated, "I swear I'm not the one who wrote that. My handwriting is way better than that."

I chuckled lightly before realizing that there was only one bed.

"Uh, Anti?"

"Hmm?"

"Where am I going to sleep?"

"I'm pretty sure I have an air mattress in my closet, we just need to inflate it before Dark gets back. His room is right across the hall."

Anti then proceeded to dig through his closet until he found a flattened air mattress and an air pump. I helped him lay the mattress out across the floor and find the slot on the side for the air pump. Once it was filled with air, we threw one of the pillows from Anti's bed on it, along with a couple blankets from his closet.

"Alright," he started once we had finished, "make yourself comfortable and go to sleep on the air mattress. I'm gonna go out to the living room with Dan and Phil."

"You're leaving me in here by myself?" I asked, confused.

"I'll be back in a couple hours. Dark would get suspicious if I wasn't watching TV with Dan and Phil like I always do. He'd probably come in here looking for me and find you."

"Oh, okay," I mumbled before Anti smiled at me and closed the door.

After taking off my shoes and extra clothing, I laid down on the air mattress and tried to drift to sleep, though my mind was racing.

Had Felix died while I was gone?

And if Jack wasn't here, then where the heck was he?

A/N

I feel like I'm about to be killed, so I'll make this fast.

Happy Friday the 13th

Today my school had its first snow day in literal years even though there's no snow so that was fun.

Anyways, BUH-BYE BROTATOES!
