Chapter 28

Dan's POV

With Phil, Nate, and Jason, I made my way down the hallway. The floors creaked with each step we took. I still had Phil's arm around my shoulder, and Nate and Jason were still fangirling over us kissing.

We aimlessly wandered through the hallways, talking about what we would do while we fostered Nate.

"It'd be so cool if you put me in one of your videos!" Nate cheered.

Phil and I giggled. We had been told that the reason we were fostering kids in the first place was because Jack and Mark had run out of games to play and needed us for a video. However, Phil and I knew damn well that there were plenty of games to play. We were absolutely positive that they were just looking for an excuse to sleep in the same house for a month.

And the only reason we agreed to do the series was because we wanted to experience Septiplier first hand.

"Don't worry about that!" Phil started. "The point of us fostering you guys is for a YouTube series!"

Suddenly, something came crashing through a wall. Phil screamed as an enormous being towered in front of us.

It blew air out of its gigantic nose. Nate and Jason, who were standing a couple of feet in front of Phil and me, quickly grabbed onto each other's clothes and let out terrified screams.

The beast quickly swung one of its arms at Nate and Jason. Jason pulled Nate into a hug as they continued to scream. I sprinted forward and pushed Nate and Jason toward Phil.

"Dan!" Phil screeched. Before I'd realized what was happening, I'd been thrown through a wall.

I couldn't move. I was laying on, what felt like, concrete. I could feel my eyes beginning to close. My breaths became shaky and weak. My right foot twitched a bit as black spots cluttered my vision. I felt blood on my back.

Then, I heard crying.

It wasn't Phil, or Nate, or Jason. They were all too busy screaming at me, asking if I was okay.

"DAN, IF YOU'RE DEAD I'LL KILL YOU!" Phil screeched.

"Mmm," I mumbled as I tried to get up.

I heard Nate yell, "Parkour!" and I looked up just in time to see him dive through the hole in the wall.

He ran toward me and helped me stand up. "We have to help Phil!"

I nodded my head in agreement and jogged toward the hole with him right behind. "Wait, Dan!" Nate called.

I turned around to face him. "What?" I coughed out with a strained voice.

"Two things," Nate started. "One, your back is drenched in blood and you should probably get that checked out after we beat the shit out of this monster. Two, look around!"

I looked around just as I had been instructed. Around me was a hallway identical to the other one with twice as many doors.

"Whoa," I mumbled.

"Is that..." Nate trailed off.

"What?" I asked.

Nate slowly raised his arm and pointed at something down the hallway. I followed his finger to a display case at the end of the hallway.

We glanced at each other before racing down the hallway. As I approached the case, I could make out something that resembled a stick inside it.

Once Nate and I finished dashing down the hallway, we could see what was in the case as clear as day.

It was Kyle, Mark's sword.

Nate pulled the flashlight out of his backpack and handed it to me. "What–"

"Smash the glass or I'll do it myself," Nate mumbled, not looking away from Kyle.

"Sounds dangerous...smashing glass to get to a sword," I countered.

"You know, I bet Levi Ackerman would do it."

I smashed the glass without a second thought.

After the glass finished falling to the ground I turned to Nate. "Do you watch anime?"

"Uh, I'm not answering that."

"Oh come on, I wouldn't judge–"

"MIKASAAAAAAAAAA!" he screamed as he grabbed Kyle and held it up dramatically.

"I'll take that as a yes!" I cheered. "Anime style sprint back to the hole?"

Nate gave me Kyle and threw his arms behind him. I put Kyle through one of my belt loops and did what Nate did. "Ready?" he asked.

After a short pause, I asked, "Was I supposed to say 'set'?"

"GO!" Nate yelled, ignoring my question. We both sprinted down the hallway to the hole. While we were racing, I heard the crying again.

I ignored it and continued running to the hole. I decided that I could try to figure it out after Nate and I helped Phil and Jason.

As we approached the hole, I began to hear Phil and Jason screaming. Once there, I saw them trying to open different doors while the monster stomped on the ground and let out a terrifying screech.

I turned to Nate. "How the hell are we gonna do this?"

"I don't know! Mark never actually got around to killing the other monster thing, remember! Well, that's what I was told happened."

I thought for a moment while staring at the beast before I realized something. "Nate, the monster's the same one as before."

"Didn't John kill that one, though?"

"There was no blood," I mumbled, remembering when we had to walk past the beast's body days earlier.

"So what does that mean? It can't be a hologram because it punched you through a wall."

My eyes widened. "Someone's controlling it. That's the only thing that makes sense! Someone made whatever the heck it is, and is somehow controlling it!"

"So we can kill it?" Nate asked.

"Probably."

"WOULD YOU TWO STOP TALKING AND HELP?!" Phil screamed.

"Alright, team plan," I started. "You distract the monster while I sneak up behind it. Once I stab it, you make sure everyone gets through this hole, got it?"

"Oh yeah! I've always wanted to be the distraction," Nate replied sarcastically.

"Good."

Nate rolled his eyes and jumped through the hole. He ran in front of the monster and began waving his arms around to get its attention.

I leaped through the hole and sprinted behind the beast. The monster didn't notice me. Instead, it opened its massive mouth and released a huge ball of fire.

"YOU DIDN'T TELL ME IT COULD DO THIS!" Nate yelled. Jason ran toward him and tackled him to the ground, causing both of them to dodge it.

The monster punched the ground and let out another horrifying screech. Phil ran to Jason and Nate, helped them off the ground, and demanded them to go through the hole in the wall.

Using both hands, I lifted Kyle up. I watched as Nate and Jason leaped through the hole, but Phil didn't. I motioned for him to go through the hole with my hands, but he shook his head.

I sighed and stared up at the beast in front of me. I pulled Kyle back and swung it as hard as I could at the monster.

The beast let out a loud whine as Kyle sliced through its back. It turned its head toward me, but before it could do anything, a loud whistle echoed through the hallway.

The monster yelped and cowered a bit. It tried to cover the ears on its gigantic head.

I was frozen. I must've been right. The beast had to have been controlled by someone. The monster shook around and fell to the ground.

The whistle got louder and the beast began backing up, back down the hallway. It whipped its head around toward the source of the sound. It began slowly walking toward the sound.

Once it was in front of the hole, it stopped. It turned its head toward Nate and Jason and let out another desperate whine.

Nate and Jason glanced at each other before looking at the monster. The beast suddenly turned back toward the whistle and broke into a sprint. As it approached the corner in the hallway, it stopped again. The beast seemed to be shrinking, turning into something that almost looked like a human.

It looked back at us one last time and the last I saw of it before it walked around the corner was its green eyes sparkling from the light.

Then, the whistle sounded again, louder than before, and the figure looked around the corner before sprinting in that direction.

A/N

I can't wait for no one to know who the figure is

Feel free to guess! I gotta get entertainment somewhere!

On a completely separate note, has anyone watched Mark's Undertale play through that he's doing through live streams because I still can't get over the Undyne voice and I just–

Anyways, BUH-BYE BROTATOES!
