Chapter 19

Dan's POV

We all stayed frozen to the ground, not wanting to move. They said the staircase hadn't been there before, meaning everything on the floor above us would be new as well. They also said that the staircase was where the door had been.

Which meant that Phil was up there.

...and Jack and Percy.

Oh man, was I falling hard.

Something else had been picking at my mind. It was the fact that all of our fans would be freaked out. None of us had uploaded a video—or even been on social media—for the past twenty-four hours.

It also made me wonder if any of our fans knew what was going on. We all promised not to post anything about what we were doing for the collab, so no one knew where we were.

We wouldn't know if they were freaking out because our phones didn't work. We wouldn't know if they even care enough to be worried.

We wouldn't know.

"We have to find Phil," I mumbled, tears threatening to spill from my eyes. I was so lost in thought I hadn't even realized what I said.

"We will," Nate replied as he placed his foot on the first step.

"Uh, Percy and Jack?" Reagan asked, smirking.

"What about them?" I asked as I began following Nate up the stairs.

"Oh, nothing," Reagan mumbled more to herself than to me. She jogged up to Nate.

There was a door at the top of the stairs. Nate reached for the handle but stopped himself. Reagan's eyes widened as she whispered, "No way."

They looked at each other before gently pressing their ears against the door. I looked back at Mark to find him staring at me. He walked up and stood on the same step as me. "Someone's talking."

"What?"

"On the other side of the door. Listen."

I gave Mark an uneasy glance before taking a few more steps toward the door and listening.

Mark was right. There was a muffled voice on the other side of the door that sounded slightly familiar. I stood directly behind Nate, put a hand on his shoulder, and leaned on the door.

I could hear the voice more clearly now. "Dan. Where's Dan?"

It was Phil.

"BLOODY HELL! PHIL!" I yelled. The tears were running down my face now.

"Dan?" he asked in a voice I knew all too well. He was trying not to freak out.

"Y-YEAH!" I grabbed the doorknob and twisted it. Nothing happened.

The door was locked.

"It's locked," I whispered.

Nate hugged me. "It'll be okay. We're gonna get Phil."

"And hey!" Reagan started. "Look on the bright side! If Phil's on the other side of this door, he's probably fine! I mean, wouldn't he have been freaking out if something bad had happened?"

"I guess..."

"So we find a key to this stupid door!" Jason cheered from behind me.

"Oh great. We're looking for a key in this building?" Felix asked, crossing his arms.

"Yeah, you have a problem with that?" Cry asked as he grabbed Felix's hand and led him down the stairs.

Felix rolled his eyes, smiled, and walked with Cry.

I started to follow them, but I stopped myself. Nate sent me a confused glance. "Why are we stopping?"

"I want to stay here. With Phil." I realized what I mumbled a second too late. "S-So he doesn't get lonely, and we can talk."

"Uh, sure?" Mark responded. I knew he wasn't really listening. Probably thinking about Jack or something.

"You don't need to stutter," Reagan whispered in my ear, "I already know you like Phil, so wanting privacy is understandable."

I started blushing a bright red, "W-What?"

"Oh come on! You know it's true! You like Phil, and that's perfectly fine! Great, even! It might even get Mark to own up to his feelings for Jack!"

"You ship Septiplier as well?" I asked, trying to dodge the fact that she knew I had a crush on Phil.

"Umm, duh. Everyone ships Septiplier."

Apparently everyone ships Phan too.

"Reagan, come on!" Mark called from the bottom of the stairs.

"Calm down, it's not like we're going anywhere," Reagan called back before turning to me. "Make sure you talk to Phil. The voice gave Nate back, but he was missing his memory. I wouldn't be surprised if something happened to Phil as well."

I sighed, "Alright. Now go! They might just leave without you."

She chuckled at me, "Yeah, sure."

She jogged back down the stairs, leaving me by myself. I heard their voices fade away, before turning back to the door. I walked back up to it and sat down, leaning my back against it.

"Phil? You still there?"

There was a pause before he replied, "Dan?"

Well, I could now check 'memory erase' off the list of things that could've happened to Phil.

"Yeah, it's me. You okay?"

"I have scars up my arms," he replied, but something wasn't right. His voice sounded cold, dead.

"Do you remember how you got them?" I asked, wanting to make sure nothing worse than what we were being told had happened to him.

"You gave them to me."

Mark's POV

I hated leaving Dan by himself, but I knew he needed to talk to Phil alone. I honestly hated the idea of any of us splitting up.

But that's what we decided to do.

I was with Reagan, Nate, and Jason. Felix and Cry went off in a different direction. We all knew the 'teams' weren't fair, but we also knew that the only reason the teams were like this was because Cry and Felix wanted to be alone.

Reagan, Nate, and Jason were talking about Abby, and exchanging different stories about her. I zoned out once they got to the fourth one, which was about how she hacked Reagan's Twitter and tweeted a bunch of shit that caused Reagan to get hate comments nonstop for a month.

I was pulled back into the conversation when I heard the term 'Septiplier'.

"Wait, what did you say?" I asked, feeling bad for zoning out on them, but interested nonetheless.

"We were betting on–"

Reagan and Nate both slammed their hands over Jason's mouth.

"We were wondering when you plan on kissing Jack," Reagan replied while Nate glared at Jason.

I felt my cheeks heat up. "I-I don't know..."

"I vote for a grand entrance. Right when you see him, smash your lips together," Nate suggested.

"But then we'd all be watching. Well, probably," Reagan started to contemplate how we would run into Jack.

"Oh come on Reagan, don't pretend you don't want to see that," Nate replied.

"Can we talk about something else?" I asked, overly embarrassed.

"But–"

"LET'S TALK ABOUT PHAN!" Nate screamed, causing me to flinch. Reagan and Jason didn't seem shocked in the slightest.

Reagan chuckled, "I bet Dan found the key in the first place and just wanted us to leave so that–"

"HE COULD BANG PHIL!" Nate finished.

We all erupted into laughter while Reagan choked out, "Sure!"

We continued walking a bit longer before a question popped into my mind. "Hey, Reagan?"

"Hmm?"

"Nate and you both knew where Phil, Percy, and Jack were. Nate knew because he was kept there, but you'd never been there before. How did you know?"

Nate and Jason had stopped talking, interested in our conversation.

"Well," Reagan started, looking a bit uncomfortable, "uh, I need to ask you a really weird question."

"Okay?" I replied, not sure what I had to do with any of this.

"The day before you came here, did you have a dream with me in it?"

My eyes widened and I stopped walking. "How do you know about that?"

She took a deep breath. "I was there."

"Wait," Nate started, "there's no way you have inclusive dreams."

"Last night I had a dream in that same room. The only difference was that you weren't there, Percy was."

"Hold on," I began, "how does that explain how you knew where all of them were?"

"Percy and I figured it out in my dream. He said that the voice pushed Nate out of a door, and I knew it had to be the door John was leading us to."

We started walking again, not quite sure where to look for the key, when I said, "So, you have dreams that allow you to communicate with people. That'll come in handy."

Reagan looked at me. "Maybe I could even get inside the voice's head." She punctuated her sentence with jazz hands.

"Now that would come in handy."
