Chapter 16

Mark's POV

I gently kissed Reagan's forehead as she drifted off to sleep. I smiled down at her, cuddled into my side.

I heard Dan chuckle, so I looked up at him. He was smiling at me. "Ya know, these kids really would fit right in with us."

"I know right!" I started. "I just can't wait to tell Jack about her."

Dan's eyes widened slightly, accompanied by a smile across his face.

"Because h-he's my best friend," I added.

"Right. Yeah of course," Dan responded sarcastically.

I sighed and rolled my eyes. "If you need something to compare our friendship to, Jack and I are like you and Phil."

"So you do have a crush on him!" Dan cheered. His eyes widened immediately after. "Uh, I mean–"

"Did you just confess to having feelings for Phil?!" I shouted.

He slammed a hand over my mouth. "Shut up and go to sleep, weirdo."

He likes Phil.

HE LIKES PHIL.

HE FUCKING LIKES PHIL!

"I ship it," I whispered to Dan, making him smile.

"Well, I ship you and Jack so I guess that makes us even."

"Whatever," I yawned, closing my eyes, suddenly feeling very tired. I started to fall asleep, holding Reagan close.

•••

I woke up in my bed, back at home. I sat up and looked around to find that everything looked exactly as it had before we left. I pulled the covers off of myself and got out of bed.

I walked to my closet and got changed out of my pajamas. I put on dark blue skinny jeans and my red flannel. I exited my room, and found my house silent, besides the sound of something cooking in my kitchen. I walked toward the sound to find a man with green hair cooking bacon.

JACK!

"Oh my gosh! Jack!" I yelled before running toward him and enveloping him in a giant hug.

He chuckled at me, "You act like you haven't seen me in a month! Are you alright?"

"I guess I just...had a bad dream."

He turned around to face me and gently pressed his lips against mine. It caught by surprise at first, but after a second I started kissing back.

It felt odd. Like it wasn't supposed to be happening.

He pulled away from me. "You don't need to have bad dreams. I'm here, remember? But, uh, you're wearing that to the funeral?"

My eyes widened. "What funeral?"

"What do you mean 'what funeral'? Mark, Reagan died in a car crash, remember?"

"What? Reagan isn't dead!"

And that was when I realized that I didn't have a bad dream.

I was dreaming.

Because Jack wasn't here, he was being hurt.

"I'm dreaming," I whispered.

Jack looked taken aback. "You're smarter than we thought."

"Umm, what does that mean?"

"Oh, nothing," Jack stated as he walked past me to the silverware drawer. I tilted my head a bit, not sure what he was doing.

Then he pulled out Kyle.

"This may be a dream," Jack started, "but that doesn't mean it won't affect you."

My eyes widened as he slowly dragged the sword along his forearm.

"Jack, stop! What are you doing?!"

He didn't respond, he just continued digging Kyle into his skin, staring straight at me.

This is just a dream.

I noticed tears in his eyes.

It's just a dream.

"I'm being hurt in real life as well. You're sleeping instead of looking for me."

It's just a dream.

"Ever wonder what happened to Nate? You'll never know if you don't keep looking for us!"

It's just a dream.

"STOP SAYING THAT!" Jack screeched at me.

"I didn't say anything!" I yelled back.

He smirked at me. "So you are listening."

The scenery changed. I was no longer in my house. Now, I was in a room with blood stains everywhere.

Blood. Was. Everywhere.

"Mark?" a voice above me called. I looked up to find all of my friends.

Dead.

I saw everyone I'd ever known. From YouTubers, to family, to Reagan and her friends.

Everyone except for Jack.

Jack walked out of the shadows lining a wall. "It's your fault ya know."

"What are you–"

"IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!" the people above began to chant.

"YOUR FAULT! YOUR FAULT!"

Jack walked up to me. "You could have saved us."

I reached my hand out to Jack, but just before I touched him, he was ripped away from me, up with the rest of the bodies.

I started to cry, with my mind being on only one thing.

I had to save Jack.

And I had to save him soon.

•••

I jolted upright, forcing Reagan up with me. I was screaming, and as much as I wanted to stop, I wouldn't. It took me a moment to realize that I forced Jason, Nate, and Dan up along with Reagan.

Nate had been stretched out across all of our laps, and Jason had been on top of Dan and Reagan. When I sat upright, Nate and Jason were thrown forward and were now laying on the floor, awake. Reagan fell on Dan, waking both of them up.

They were all breathing heavily, just like I was.

Cry and Felix sat up from where they were laying on the floor. Felix looked at Cry and let out a sigh of relief, before laying back down.

"Mark, why'd ya scream?" Reagan asked, shuffling toward me. She looked ready to scream at me, but at the same time, worried about me.

I wasn't going to freak her out. There was enough going on as it was. "Just a bad dream, nothing to worry about."

Reagan's eyes widened, but she quickly calmed down. "Right."

Reagan's POV

I woke up in a room that had bright red walls, along with square tiles on the floor. It was the same room I was in when I had that dream about Mark watching me die. I looked around, expecting to see him again, but I didn't.

Instead, I saw Percy.

"R-Reagan?" he asked, looking around as if something was watching us.

"Percy!" I cheered before lifting my foot off my tile.

"Wait!" he called. "You'll die of you step off your tile!"

Oh yeah.

"Hold on," he told me. He closed his eyes and looked like he was focusing on something. "Come on over."

I slowly took my foot off of my tile and placed it on the nearest one. Nothing happened, so I proceeded to sprint to Percy.

I tackled him into a hug once I got there. "Hey!"

He chuckled at me, "I know this is a dream, but it's better than being with the voice by a long shot."

"Wait," I started, "I thought I was the one dreaming."

He thought for a second. I waited for an answer, but he replied, "Don't look at me! You've always been the smart one!"

I narrowed my eyes at him. "Well, aren't you helpful."

"That's irreverent. What's going on?"

I thought for a second. "Maybe our dreams are inclusive–"

"Uh, hate to break it to you, but this has never happened to me before. Has it happened to you?"

"Actually," I started, "this has happened to me before."

"What! And you never told me?!"

"Calm down, it just happened last night–"

"With who?"

"I don't even know if he had the dream too, but it was with Mark–WAIT!" I cut myself off, "Can't we communicate to each other using this?"

Percy's eyes widened and a smile formed on his face. "Reagan!" He started leaning forward, but stopped himself and started blushing. "Y-You're a genius!"

Was he about to kiss me?

"R-Right. Uh, what happened to Nate and where are you guys?"

"The voice extracted Nate's memories, sent him out of a door, and told the rest of us that we were going to have, and I quote, 'far worse fates'. As for where we are, we're–"

Percy was cut off my someone screaming. I was thrown to the right, and the second my foot left my tile, they all turned yellow and I was launched into the abyss that was the ceiling.

The last thing I remember was Percy screaming, "you!"

•••

"You okay Reagan?" Mark asked, worriedly.

"Uh, yup! Everything's fine," I lied.

A/N

Reagan and Percy need a ship name, and so do Jason and Nate...

SOMEONE MAKE ONE UP FOR BOTH OF THEM!

My mind's telling me not to leave this up to you guys but I'm just "lolz what could go wrong"

Anyways, BUH-BYE BROTATOES!
