Homecoming escapades
Misty
Ever since that one day in class, we hadn't seen the creepy guy until homecoming weekend, when we realized he was an offensive player when we attended the football game. We sat in the bleachers and watched the football team run onto the field before the other team ran onto the field. Nash and I whispered as I nodded to the offensive football player. Nash looked at the guy before me for confirmation. I nodded.
Nash waved to the cousins to lean into him. He told them what I confirmed. The boys looked at the offensive player and watched him. Then, we heard a few girls talking behind us about Chet, the offensive player.
Okay, we now have a name.
The football game started, and we watched the players. Chet brutally slammed into a player from the opposing team. That player wasn't the only one. Chet became more aggressive during the game, injuring players. Football can get brutal, but nothing like this.
The problem was that we could not do anything about it since hundreds of people were surrounding us.
Finally, the referee ejected Chet from the game for extreme roughness after injuring five players from the opposing team. We got up and left our seats to see if we could corner Chet.
"If the demon attached itself to this douche, how come your locket didn't alert us?" Nathan asked me.
"It must have hid itself, using that twit," Nixon reasoned.
"Then we have another issue," Noah said.
"What issue?" Nolan asked.
"We can't hurt the stupid bastard trying to perform an exorcism. How the hell do we explain that to our folks?"
"Noah has a point," Nathan said.
We reached the locker room and checked before entering it. We checked around but didn't find Chet. We left the locker room and stood in the hallway.
"How the hell does someone vanish?" Nixon asked.
We heard cleats behind us and turned around slowly to come face-to-face with Chet.
Chet tilted his head and smiled a smile that made your skin crawl. "Are you Looking for me?"
"We were, and now, we're not," Nixon said.
Chet laughed menacingly. "You can't touch me. You would hurt an innocent person. He would punish you if you harmed a human."
Nixon looked at Nash. "This thing is really chafing my ass."
Nash gave Nixon an annoyed expression.
"You can't hide behind someone forever," Nathan said.
"I don't need forever, just long enough to play with my toys, like I did with your family. I enjoyed it when they put up a fight. It was so satisfying." Chet closed his eyes and fluttered his lips before opening his eyes and smiling at us. "I'll see you soon."
Before we could react, Chet disappeared in front of us.
"Great. Now, what do we do?" Noah asked.
"We figure out how to extract the demon from Chet," Nash said.
"And find out why Maggie's locket went in the fritz," Nixon added.
No kidding.

We returned to our seats and stayed for the rest of the game to ensure no one else got hurt. Once the game ended, our football team won. We got up, headed to the exit with everyone else, and walked to the car. We stood in the parking lot and waited to see who left the locker room.
As cars left the parking lot, Chet left the building with his teammates, and his arm was flung around a girl's neck. He saw us and smirked while passing us in the parking lot. We watched him, knowing our tempers. Aiden and Diego stood with us, not smiling. Aiden has Grandpa Matt's temper. A combination of our tempers was a very thing for this demon.
Eventually, we climbed into the car and headed to the house. We walked into the house as the girls plopped on the couch while Karlene, Eden, and Marissa sat on the loveseat.
"So what's the plan now?" Kat asked.
"We need to figure out how to deal with this thing without hurting the twit attached to it. God would never forgive us if we hurt his precious lamb," Nix said.
"Can't we create like a demon trap or something like they did in Ghostbusters?" Marissa asked.
"We're working on something, but it'll take time," Aiden said, not elaborating on the massive ring he's building.
"So, what do we do in the meantime? Unlike most of you, the rest of us can't defeat this thing," Eden mentioned.
"It doesn't want you or the others. It wants me," I said.
"That's reassuring." Eden gave me a strange look.
I rubbed the bridge of my nose, trying to ease the tension building.
"Okay. Let's recap. We have a name and face now. We know who to look for," Noah said.
Nathan looked at Noah. "That still doesn't help with our issue."
"No, but we can trap it to extract it from Chet."
The gears in Nathan's head started turning as his lips curved into a devious smile.
"What's with the smile?" Diego asked.
"Oh, that's Nathan and Noah planning a prank," Mags said with a shrug.
Diego's brows lifted in curiosity.
If anyone knew Nathan and Noah, they enjoyed their pranks. I beat their asses several times when they played them on me.

While Nathan and Noah concoct a plan to piss off the psycho demon, aka attached to Chet, like a boil on humanity's ass, I got up and made popcorn. I tossed a bag of popcorn into the microwave and turned it on.
Nash came into the kitchen while the popcorn popped in the microwave. "Are you making popcorn?"
"Yeah."
"Why?"
"Why not? I can't listen to Nathan and Noah plot without popcorn." I held my hand out to the living room.
"We don't even know if their plan will work." Nash leaned on the counter and placed his head in his hands.
"Do you remember who you're talking about?" I leaned on the counter beside Nash.
Nash lifted his head from his hands and looked at me.
"Those two fools plan things down to the detail."
When the popcorn finished popping, I grabbed it, walked to the living room, and tossed it at the others.
Nolan caught it and opened it. "Alright, Maggie!"
I returned to the kitchen, put another bag in the microwave, and turned it on. "We need to go grocery shopping. You can't sustain the natives on microwave popcorn alone."
"It's not like we've had much time between classes and hunting a demon."
"You need to make the time to buy groceries. You're a growing boy with a hearty appetite." I patted his chest and smiled before taking the bag of popcorn and tossing it to the others.
"Thanks, Maggie!" Diego yelled.
I nodded before making another bag, and they started fighting over the popcorn like animals. Six bags should do us unless Nash's appetite kicks up.
"Are we still going to the dance?"
"What's with you and this dance? We have a demon hell-bent on destroying, and you want to attend a stupid dance."
"I want to take my girlfriend and future baby momma to the dance."
"You sure have high hopes about me being your baby momma, don't you?"
"It's inevitable that you'll be my baby momma."
"What if I don't want to be your baby momma?"
Nash slipped his arm around my waist and tugged me to him before crashing his lips into mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck and returned his kiss.
"I'll just grab this while you two continue to suck face," Nixon said, slipping by us to grab the bag of popcorn and leaving the kitchen.
Nash and I watched Nixon's retreating form before rolling our eyes and returning to our kiss.

While frick and frack worked on their plan, I opened the bag of popcorn and checked different sites on my phone. My former theology professors never explained what to do when encountering a demon. It's one thing they never discussed in my classes.
As I checked the internet on my phone, I came across the seven devils and read through them. I pursed my lips, learning how the deadly sins got their names. Great. We have an underling who understands the deadly sins. That's fantastic because it gives him a leg up on how to cause us more problems.
I came across a site that discussed demons and how they attach themselves to people. Well, no shit. Information on the internet would be helpful if it told us something new and not something we already know.
Eventually, Nash and Maggie quit sucking face in the kitchen and joined us. If they weren't careful, they would have a papoose before Nathan did. I can see West and Uncle Val's heads exploding at that news since they didn't expect to send us to school to knock up the girls. Nathan had better not get any bright ideas and poke holes in his raincoats. I don't want to perform another improper wedding on Valentine's Day. He can wait until after our birthdays to pull that stunt.
Now, back to my search for all things demon.
