Roommates
After Miriam is carried out of the room, Ike quickly measures me and Mr Haughty French Guy (His name until I'm told otherwise) before going to Miriam with a vague 'Your robes will be in your rooms'. Mr Haughty French Guy looks at me with a raised dark blond eyebrow.
"How does that ghost look like you?" He asks, looking less haughty. "She seemed confused until she saw your power mark." He points at my birth mark and I frown at it.
"I have moon powers?" Mr Haughty French Guy nods, understanding on his face. "Cool. I have no idea how she knew me. I'm just as confused as she was. I'm Luna Moon, by the way." I offer him my hand and he shakes it with a small smile.
"I'm Beckett Bishop," Sparks fly around our hands and I quickly drop his hand but he doesn't notice. "You probably need help finding the dorms to change for the welcome speech. I'll show you if you want," I nod, following him out into the dark hall. "Crap. Too bad I can't use fire." I start to glow and smile at him.
"Good thing I glow in the dark now," He gives me an appraising look before frowning at me. "What? You can see my power mark, you know what I can do." He nods, still frowning at me.
"One of them. You're really powerful, I can sense it. That means you can have more than one power," I frown at myself as we get outside. "For example, I can control metal and air. But from what I can sense...You could control at most three more elements, probably fire, earth and wood." I nod slowly, rubbing my arms.
"If I can control fire, I better warm up soon," Beckett rolls his eyes before concentrating on me, the air getting warmer. "Thanks, Bishop. So, that the dorms there?" I point at the grey building with suitcases flying through the brown doors. Beckett nods, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Guess I'll see you around, Moon," I nod and shake his hand. "Hope you aren't put against me, I'll beat you. I know how to use my powers and have been using them since before I could talk." He walks away and I frown at him before heading towards the dorms which is where he's heading.
"Alright then, mate," I mutter before something hits me. I turn around to see a very pretty girl trying to pull a fluffy dragon away from where it is repeatedly bumping into me. "I'm going to pet them and hope they don't bite or breath fire." I pet the very warm, soft, fluffy dragon and the girl smiles.
"She is a fluffon, her name is Seraphine," The girl has a heavy Spanish accent and has to patiently push her hair out of her face so she can smile. "I am Alena Ramirez, who are you?" I smile, still petting Seraphine.
"Luna Moon," Something flashes in her eyes as her smile slips briefly and I frown at her. "What? Is there something wrong?" Alena looks at Seraphine before answering.
"It is just that...The name Moon brings bad memories to most people," She hesitates before continuing while avoiding her eyes. "There was this cult about seventeen years ago and the cult leader's wife's last name was Moon...That cult killed a lot of people...Including my older sister and aunt." She hurries off with Seraphine on her heels and I'm alone again.
"Maybe I should stop talking to people," I mutter before someone taps my shoulder and I turn to see the most attractive guy I've ever seen, too attractive. "Um, hi." He smiled, his very dark green eyes slightly unnerving.
"I couldn't help overhearing that you think you should stop talking to people, I disagree," He smiled wider, his smile bright enough that I don't feel like crawling into a hole. "I'm Zacharias Amari. What's your name?" I smile back, feeling people staring.
"I'm Luna Moon. Thanks for letting me know that I should talk to people. I better find out what dorm I'm in," We walk towards a girl holding a clipboard and a quill. "Hopefully she's not a random girl with a clipboard." The girl smiles, looking at the clipboard.
"Power marks please," I extend my arm and she peers at her list. "Third floor, fifth door on the right, Luna. Same for you Zacharias." I share a look with Zacharias who releases his shirt collar before heading to the dorms. Inside, floor tiles float up to the apparent eighteen floors, two people per tile. I notice Alena and Beckett looking over the third floor banister at us and have a feeling we're all roommates. Zacharias offers me a smile before we awkwardly stand very close on a tile and go to the third floor. Beckett looks at us with a cocked eyebrow.
"Let me guess, fifth door on the right?" I nod, looking at said door. "Well, we better put our hands on the door before we can't get in," I frown until I notice the lack of a door knob. Beckett makes an impatient noise and lifts up my hand, the sparks from earlier now where his hand grips my wrist. I pull my hand away and put it against the door myself beside his, Alena's and Zacharias. We fall forward as the door becomes a mirror and we fall through it, like I had before but I feel safer. Colours fly pass us and we land on a nice purple sofa with black pillows. "We better get into our robes before the welcome speech and dinner and find out which room is ours." I frown at the only two doors and hope to any power that be that they are also magic doors. Zacharias and Alena put their hands on the doors, one turning blue, the other pink, unfortunately it seems to be sexist doors. Alena opens the door and I see a very fancy room with a canopy bed with a pet canopy bed and fireplace. Zacharias' room has the most colourful room I've ever seen before the door closes. Beckett glances at me with a little smile as the doors become their original colour.
"I guess Zacharias is the colourful one," I return the smile and nod before reaching for the door. "I'm sorry if I was hurtful earlier," I look at him, eyebrows raised. "The Bishops are a very driven family with high expectations and a need to be the best...Unfortunately it surfaces in me when I feel comfortable with someone so sorry." I awkwardly nod before touching the door as it changes colour.
"You don't have to apologise. Apparently there's a chance I'm related to the wife of a cult leader," Beckett starts to smile and I frown, ignoring my heart thumping. "Mate, I don't think that smiling at that is normal." He shakes his head and opens his door which is the same silvery gray colour as mine.
"It is since I'm pretty sure that Miriam is Miriam Moon, the last Headmistress who died before fifty," I start to smile back as he continues. "She had three children, one of which was a woman, Aloysius Crescent's wife. We can talk to her when she's back." I offer him a fistbump and he bumps his fist against mine before we go into our rooms, sparks going up my arm...Weird.
