The Halo Effect was a work-in-progress for over two years. as such, I have a collection of covers and graphics that document the different eras of this book. below are my favorites 🤍

The GA Cover

as far as casting goes, Gracie Abrams is the perfect Chandler England. also if I had to choose one song to represent this book, it's Difficult. I've had it on repeat since it dropped last autumn, and it's genuinely one of my favorite songs ever. anyway, I love this cover and it will absolutely make a comeback very soon xx

The Halo Effect (Midnights Version)

this cover is obviously inspired by Taylor Swift's album Midnights. there's no specific track that I associate with this book (album wise, Fearless takes the win with Forever & Always, You're Not Sorry, and Change), but I listened to this album A LOT while writing the last quarter of this book. Chandler's favorite track is easily The Great War.

this work of aesthetic sorcery is by soulofstaars. I previously had it in the ➾ about section of this book, but replaced it with another set of her stunning graphics. that said, this one is simply too pretty to remove entirely. also, shoutout to moonraess for requesting this as a surprise for me. I vividly remember gasping at my desk.

The Original (From the Vault)

once upon a time in winter 2021, The Halo Effect was titled Escape Velocity. I resonated with this idea of Chandler needing to 'escape' or 'break free' from various feelings/people/events that have this gravitational sense of influence on her. because how do you escape gravity? what kind of toll does that take? what or who keeps you grounded in a good way?

I ran with this idea even after I changed the title, making numerous references to a certain lacrosse captain having a gravitational pull, but it's more than that of course. it's never just about the boy, duh!

anyway, I'm almost bashful about including this cover (it's dated 23 October 2020) because it's just not up to my current standards but whatever!!! this is a sentimental archive not a vanity exercise 🤍
