Danny's POV
"I name the next ruler of the Ghost Zone as-"
"WAIT!"
Everyone's attention was drawn to the main doors. In the doorway stood 5 angry Observants. I gulped, Fright Knight had said that the Observants might not be happy about me stepping down. The Observants floated up to the stage. The one leading the group spoke first, "Danny Phantom, you have no right to step down and allow an unauthorized substitute to take your place."
I frowned. Just as I was about to make a smart remark, Clockwork beat me to it, "He has every right. He is the Prince, he holds the power. I have seen nothing wrong with his choice."
"But-"
"The boy is my responsibility is he not? Now if you are done interrupting, I do believe we have a ceremony to carry on with." Clockwork floated beside me and gave my shoulder a light squeeze. The Observants were noticeably furious, but left without another word.
The doors shut behind them and the room let out a few quiet cheers. I cleared my throat, "Now as I was saying. I declare the next ruler of the Ghost Zone as.... Sir Pavor of the Ghost Zone."
Looks of confusion spread through the room, everyone looking around for the named ghost. "Pavor is Latin for fear," Fright Knight said stepping beside me, "It is also my true name."
Everyone gasped and I had to hold back a laugh as I saw the looks on their faces. I stepped away from the podium, with Fright Knight helping me here and there. That fight really took a lot out of me, but I could feel the pendant giving me strength.
I stood up straight as Fright Knight kneeled before me. Clockwork floated over and drew his sword, the Soul Shredder. I placed the Ring of Rage on Fright Knight's right ring finger and placed the Crown of Fire on his helmeted head.
Clockwork handed me the Soul Shredder. I took it in both hands and rested the tip of his sword on each of Fright Knight's shoulders. "By the power vested in me by the late Pariah Dark I declare you, Sir Pavor, King of the Ghost Zone."
Cheers erupted from the room. Ember climbed on top of the table she was seated at. Pulling out her guitar she cried, "Let's get this party started!" Ember strummed a chord on her guitar and a stage poofed into existence along with her band. She began playing her famous song 'Remember'.
Fright Knight stood and I returned his sword, which he sheathed, "How did you learn my true name?"
I smiled, "The castle told me." Fright Knight was confused by my answer.
I sighed, "The ring and the crown are connected to the castle. It's alive. That's how it can transform with such ease."
Fright Knight took all that information in, "But what about the 'earthquake'?"
I rubbed the back of my neck, "Yeah, I asked about that. The castle doesn't even know. But it wasn't natural. Someone or something caused it.... somehow."
"Excuse me," Clockwork in his toddler form said as he snapped the two of us out of our thoughts, "But I do believe there is a party going on that you are missing."
I smiled up at the old ghost. Turning to Fright Knight I bowed, "Royalty first." The new King laughed, "If that is true then you should go first."
I looked up at the King, "How about we both go at the same time?"
"As you wish my friend."
And so, the new King Pavor and I walked down into the party where we were greeted with handshakes, words of congratulations, and pats on the back.
I looked around the party, seeing everyone mingle and look happy. Even my enemies were having a good time. My friends wound up beside me. "Hey cuz! I made a friend!" Danni said. A familiar ghost girl with braided blonde hair floated beside Danni.
"Hey Talia," I said.
"Hello Danny," she replied. Jazz pulled me into a hug. "Jazz... you're.... crushing me," I choked out. She only squeezed tighter. When she finally let go I was gasping for breath. "That's for scaring me," my older sister teased.
I laughed only to let out a little yelp of pain as Sam punched my arm. "Hey! Haven't I learned my lesson from the death hug a few seconds ago?" I questioned.
In response, Sam gave me a little peck on the cheek and wrapped me in a hug. "I'm just glad you're alright." I smiled and hugged her back. Tucker and I fist bumped when Sam and I separated.
"I do hope I am not interrupting anything," Clockwork said from behind me. I jumped and spun around, "Clockwork! No no nothing, what's up."
"I need to speak with you," Clockwork stated simply, shifting to his middle aged form. I looked back at my friends, "I'll just be a sec."
Clockwork led the way back to the room where I had told him about what I was going to do. The Elder Spirit turned to me, "You are still in your Ghost Prince form."
I looked down at my clothes, finally noticing that my normal HAZMAT suit had not returned, "What does that mean?"
"Many things. You are still the true heir, wearing the ring and crown for that long as well as using their combined power cemented this form, you are now connected to the castle and it is connected to you."
"I have felt this little buzzing in the back of my head, like when the castle talked to me."
"Yes, it will never go away."
I looked down, "What about this?" I asked holding up the Pendant of Life.
Clockwork stared at the pendant, "You can never take it off."
"Even when I have to shower?" I joked.
"No, I mean you can never take it off. It has bonded to you. The pendant is now under your protection."
I looked down, "Fright warned me about that. He also told me the reason it exists. Will it really-"
Clockwork held up a hand, "Do not speak about the reason it exists, for fear of unwanted ears listening."
I tilted my head, "Who? There's no one near us."
"That doesn't mean no one is listening. Now listen closely, you now have a very large target on your back. Many ghosts, old and new, will come after you. You can never let them know about the pendant. You will train with me on its use and only me."
I felt a little guilty as he said that last part, "Anything else?"
"Yes. One day soon, a new villain and their forces will come for you and the castle. Be prepared, keep your family close and trust those you would not normally trust." With that, Clockwork visibly relaxed, "Now I suggest we enjoy the night."
Clockwork floated back into the party and I followed. Pushing all the bad thoughts out of my mind, I began to party and mingle with everyone.
The next morning
"Ugh, man these parties are killing me," Tucker complained as he rubbed his temples on our walk to school the next day.
Sam and I laughed causing Tucker to give the two of us an evil glare. As I was laughing, a wisp of blue mist escaped from my mouth.
"I Technus! Will take over this city's powerlines and once their power has fueled me, I will consume all the power in the world!" Technus cried from a rooftop.
I shared a look with my friends. "Going ghost!" I cried as two white rings washed over me, my clothes transforming into a familiar HAZMAT suit, black locks turned white, and blue eyes shining ectoplasmic green.
"Hey Technus! I think your warranty just expired!" I shouted as I charged at the ghost, the Pendant of Life thumping against my chest.
"Yep everything's back to normal," Sam commented.
At City Hall
Third Person POV
"See? The plan went perfectly just like I said it would," Vlad Masters commented from behind his desk.
"True, but the boy did not take the throne and has made it quite clear that he won't ascend until much later in his life," said a mysterious second figure clothed in black, "Not to mention Vizier has been erased from all existence by the Time Master."
Vlad waved his hand dismissively, "Details details, the point is we now know the location of the Pendant of Life as well as Clockwork's weakness."
The second figure placed a hand on his chin. "Not to mention we now know more about the boy, the pendant, and the castle than we had hoped for," Vlad added.
The elder halfa pressed a red button located beneath his desk, and a panel of the wall opened revealing a female ghost with a scar over her left eye floating in a tank. Her eyes flew open, "What is the meaning of this?!" she demanded.
Vlad and the dark figure walked over to the tank, "Hello Serenity, my name is Vlad Masters. We have much to discuss."
