25. The Dearly Departed

Y/N'S POV

"It's done." I told Voldemort calmly.

Voldemort looked extremely pleased.

"Are we going back to Malfoy Manor now?" I asked him.

He nodded. "But I have more plans for you. It was easy killing someone you didn't know wasn't it?"

I nodded. The first murder was the worst, but then I just turned off my emotions and didn't let the guilt consume me, because guilt was going to lead to my downfall.

"I'll meet you back at the Manor for whatever you want to do next, I have to make sure everything in the building was destroyed." I told him.

It was a pretty bad excuse considering that the building was burning to the ground but Voldemort didn't question and disappeared. My first move was the run into the forest and look for Nick. I had to do something, but I didn't know what.

What was I supposed to say to a guy whose family I just killed?

I jogged into the forest and looked around.

"You're a good hider Nick." I commented with a smirk.

I heard a rustle in the leaves and looked over in that direction. I walked over and just like I expected, there was Nick, hiding behind a tree.

"What the hell do you want?" he demanded.

I saw down on a nearby tree trunk. "First of all, I'm sorry."

"For killing my parents? And my sister." Nick said, looking at me fearfully. "Are you going to kill me?"

I laughed. "Luckily for you Nick, I am not."

There was silence before Nick spoke up.

"Why'd you do it?" Nick asked, still cautious of me.

I looked into the distance. "Long story."

"I think you kind of owe it to me to tell me what exactly just happened. Considering you made me a fucking orphan." Nick said angrily.

I chuckled. "Fair point. Very well..."

I told him my entire story. From the day I got accepted to Hogwarts and all my adventures with Harry, Ron and Hermione. We got to the Triwizard Tournament and Nick already seemed to be extremely shocked.

"Dragons?" he asked me, eyes wide.

I nodded and continued my story. I told him about how everyone thought I died but it turned out that I couldn't be killed by my psycho grandfather who hated everyone who had no wizard blood in them and wanted to cleanse the world of all Muggles.

"He sounds like this guy I learnt about in my History class. He didn't like certain people so he sent them all off to camps to be killed." Nick told me.

My story finished with how I was now a double agent for Dumbledore and I had to join Voldemort and in order to prove that I was loyal, I had to kill some Muggles.

"Dude, that's fucked." Nick said, now he wasn't as scared of me as I suppose he understood what I was going through. "Why don't you just not do it? Why do you have to listen to Volde-whatever's orders?"

"Because," I sighed, "it's meant to help the Wizarding World in the war."

Nick raised an eyebrow. "You're on the good side but you're killing innocent people?"

"It is a bit fucked up isn't it?" I said with a dry laugh. My life was a bit messed up, actually a bit was an understatement. My life was extremely messed up.

"Can you bring them back?" Nick asked me. "My family?"

There was a lump in my throat. "I can't...but something can. But you wouldn't want that."

My mind flashed to the Resurrection Stone, something that supposedly existed. One of the Deathly Hallows.

"I want to bring them back." Nick said sternly.

I shook my head. "There's no evidence that the stone that can bring people back truly exists. Either way, they wouldn't be themselves. They would be dead souls living in their past bodies, they wouldn't remember anything..."

Nick sighed and buried his head in his arms. I heard muffled sobs.

"You know I'm really sorry right?" I said truthfully, looking at him. "I wish I didn't have to."

Nick remained silent.

"Do you want to see a tiger?" I asked him, trying to think of ways to cheer him up. It was a pretty bad attempt considering that I was attempting to cheer him up with an animal after murdering his family.

He looked up and wiped his remaining tears with the sleeves of his jumper. "Is it going to eat me?"

I chuckled and waved my wand. "Expecto Patronum!"

My Patronus came out the tip of the wand and the tiger prowled around me and Nick.

"Cool isn't it?" I said, looking at Nick whose eyes were wide with amazement.

I checked my watch and realised that Voldemort would want me back soon. I suddenly had a genius idea. Although I wasn't even licensed or even qualified and that it came with great risks that could lead to the potential death of the final member of the Sawyer family, I decided to Apparate with Nick via Side-Along Apparation.

"Alright hold onto my hand," I said whilst extending my hand. Nick gave me a questionable look, "I have a girlfriend." I added, rolling my eyes and lying yet again. It still felt natural to think of Hermione as my girlfriend. I don't think I was truly ready to come to terms with the fact that we were no longer together.

He grabbed my hand and I closed my eyes and focused on the destination. Feeling myself Apparate I closed my eyes and reopened them to find Nick next to me.

"Fuck...I'm gonna throw up." Nick said.

I moved swiftly away and watched Nick throw up. Once he had recovered we walked forward towards the house I had taken us to.

I knocked on the door. A woman answered it.

"Y/N!" the woman said, shocked.

"Mrs Weasley," I said politely, "I brought a friend if you don't mind."

"Of course I don't!" exclaimed Mrs Weasley. "What brings you here anyways?"

I sighed. "It's a long story Mrs Weasley, Nick here is a Muggle but he knows about us. I wondered if you could let him stay with you guys for a bit."

Mrs Weasley looked apprehensive at first but still welcomed Nick into her house.

"Thank you Mrs Weasley, I appreciate it." I smiled, giving the woman a hug before Apparating away.

Back at the Manor, I walked back into the main room where Voldemort was waiting for me. He didn't comment or even ask where I had been. He merely just informed me of what I was going to do.

"One of my Death Eaters managed to capture an Auror and we have him in a room, waiting for you."

I wasn't sure how to react. "And I'm assuming you want me to kill them?"

Voldemort nodded and lead me towards the room where the supposed Auror was. I entered the room, expecting a random face but I was met with an extremely familiar face.

My father.

"No..." I croaked out, "no I'm not doing this."

Voldemort glared at me. "You're going to do this otherwise I am going to get someone to kill you. I will be watching, give me a show whilst you're at it."

He smiled maliciously at me before retreating to a corner.

"Y/N..." my father groaned, he looked like he had already put up a fight trying to resist capture.

"Dad..." I said, at loss for words. Tears were streaming down my face.

There was no way I was going to kill my own father. That was a new level of fucked up.

"How are you doing kid?" my dad asked, smiling weakly at me.

I let out a small smile. "Not great."

"Get on with it!" Voldemort said from the corner.

"I don't want to do this." I said. "I'm not killing my own father."

"He's not even your father," Voldemort commented, "that useless piece of scum Sirius Black was."

I looked down at my father. His hair was dirty and messy and his face had cuts and bruises on it. "Look at me Y/N." he said.

I got on my knees and looked at my father for what could be the very last time.

He brought his mouth close to my ear and whispered into it so only I could hear. "You're going to do great things, I know you are. You're going to make me so proud, my own son saving the entire Wizarding World."

"I'm not the saviour, or the hero." I muttered out.

"But you are," my father whispered, "because if you weren't we wouldn't be here right now. You're putting so much on the line just to save everyone. That's the sign of a true hero."

I moved back and looked sadly at my father.

"CRUCIO!"

Voldemort had obviously gotten bored and decided to entertain himself. My father let out pain-filled cries and screams of agony, his eyes watered as he found himself slumped on the floor, nearing the last moments of his life.

"Do it." Voldemort commanded me.

With tears in my eyes, I met my father's eyes for the last time.

"Tell your brother and mother I love them." he smiled at me. "I'll see you on the other side Y/N."

And then he closed his eyes, awaiting his fate. I shakily pointed my wand at him.

"A-avada K-kedavra."

There was no noise. There was nothing.

Steven L/N was dead.
