Part 3
Sohee POV
Where did this man come from?
I looked around and wondered if there were any other humans roaming around.
Did he get lost?
I approached him cautiously in case he were to attack. I reached out and felt his pulse. Suddenly, as though a jolt of lightning had shot straight through me, I fell back on my butt.
He's dying!
I quickly regained my composure and dragged the unconscious young man in to my home. Then I grabbed a basket and took off up the mountain in search of herbs. I might not be able to cure him, but I have to try.
After finding the herbs I had needed, I returned home and began making some medicine. "I hope this works" I prayed as I spoon fed him drops. I stayed by his side all night checking his pulse until it finally stabilized near morning.
Knowing he would probably be hungry when he woke up, I left to find and prepare something for him to eat. I was only able to find a few fruits in the forest and some vegetables from my garden. I've never cooked for anyone before. I hope he likes it.
Once I finished preparing the meal, I grabbed the tray of food and headed to the room in which he slept. I opened the door and was surprised to see him awake. "Good morning" I smiled as I placed the tray of food down and closed the door. "I thought you might be hungry" I said as I moved the tray closer to him. "I'm not sure how good it will be, but please help yourself."
Prince Howon POV
Who is this woman? Where am I? What happened?
My head hurt. I remember running away from the assassin, but how did I end up here?
"Are you okay?" she asked. Her eyes showed genuine concern for me.
Can I really trust her?
"I'm okay" I coughed. "Just a little disoriented."
"Ohh" she nodded. Then she chuckled "I guess I should have expected that."
"Forgive me, but...Who are you?"
"I'm sorry" she bowed her head in apology. "My name is Sohee" she smiled beautifully.
I couldn't help but smile in return. "How beautiful" I whispered to myself.
"What is your name?"
Do I tell her the truth?
"My name is Lee Howon" I replied.
She nodded and smiled. "You must be hungry Mister Lee Howon. Please have something to eat. It will help make you feel better."
I looked at the tray of food, but didn't recognize anything. Is it really edible? Not wanting to be impolite, I took a small bite of food. Delicious! I've never had anything that tasted this good before! The next thing I knew, I was eating the food so fast she began to chuckle.
Realizing I had made a fool of myself, I blushed. "I'm sorry."
"It's okay" she smiled back at me. "I'm just glad that you liked the food. I was worried because I have never cooked for someone else before. I was afraid you might not like it."
"Are you kidding?" I was shocked. "I wish I could eat your cooking everyday!"
"Thank you, Mister Lee Howon" she bowed politely.
"Howon" I smiled. "You can just call me Howon."
She blushed "Thank you,... Howon." She picked up the now empty tray and left the room.
I sighed as I collapsed back onto the bed "I have either died and gone to heaven or I'm dreaming and never want to wake up."
Sohee POV
"I'm glad he liked the food" I smiled as I washed the dishes. Then I quickly prepared another dose of the medicine for him. When I returned to the room, he was lying in bed reading one of my books.
He looked up as I entered the room and smiled "Hello, Sohee!"
"You look like you are feeling better" I commented.
"Yeah! I haven't felt this good in a long time!" He stretched his arms over his head. "I hope you don't mind" he lifted the book he was reading "I took the liberty of browsing through your books."
"Not at all" I smiled. "That is actually one of my favorite."
"It's not bad" he commented.
"Do you not like it?"
"It's not that..." he seemed to be trying to find the right words so as not to offend me.
"You can be honest. I won't be offended."
"If I'm to be honest" he paused. "The author should write things more realistically." He chuckled "Why write a love story between two gumihos? No offence to you, of course, but why would people read this?"
I chuckled knowingly "There are many different kinds of people in the world, just as there are many different kinds of stories."
"But why gumihos? They are evil creatures who seduce and kill people" he stated as though they were just facts.
"When was the last time you met a gumiho?"
"Never! Why would I meet a gumiho?" he laughed.
"Then I guess that means I'm the first gumiho you've ever met" I smiled.
Prince Howon POV
"Yeah, I guess so..." I shook my head and my eyes widened in shock "You're a g.... gumiho?"
She giggled a little "Never expected it, did you?"
I shook my head. "Are you really a gumiho?"
She nodded "Yes."
I collapsed back in shock. "I have to be dreaming" I mumbled as though I was talking to myself.
"Well then, while you are still dreaming, take your medicine" she smiled as she handed me a bowl of liquid that definitely looked and smelled like medicine.
"This isn't a dream" I said as I took the bowl from her.
"No it is not" she simply said.
I drank the bitter medicine "Yuck."
"Here" she giggled. "Have some candy."
I took the candy she had offered and smiled "Thank you."
"You're welcome" she smiled as she picked up the now empty bowl and moved it aside. "Let me check your pulse" she said as she gestured for me to roll up my sleeve. She checked my pulse like any other doctor would and nodded. "That is much better" she smiled. She then grabbed the bowl and walked towards the door.
"Are you going to kill me?" I asked nervously.
