Part 14
Sohee POV
I must be seeing things. First the billboard and then that guy. Why is it I'm seeing Howon everywhere?
I made my way to the temple and was greeted by the monks.
"Welcome back, Miss Sohee" Donghyun smiled.
"Hello Donghyun" I smiled back at him. "Has there been any problems?"
"No, Miss Sohee" Jangjung replied. "But head monk Seungmin asked us to wait for you. He told us to ask you to open the memorial hall so we could clean it before the ceremony tomorrow."
"Right" I chuckled. "I'm sorry, I should have done that before I left."
"No, no, no" Jangjun quickly replied. "It's not a problem." He smiled mischievously "We got out of afternoon meditation because of it."
I quickly opened the memorial hall for them and made my way back towards the mountain path.
"Where do you think you are going?" a voice called out to me. "Don't you know the temple closed early?"
I turned to face my accuser and give him a piece of my mind, but was cut short when head monk Seungmin appeared. "Is there a problem?" he asked the man who was yelling at me.
"I just caught a fan who had snuck into the temple" he irritably replied.
"I'm afraid you are mistaken" head monk Seungmin corrected him. "She did not sneak into the temple. She lives on Fox Mountain and is always welcome at the temple." He then walked over to me and gave a slight bow. "Please forgive this man's outburst. He is concerned for those under his care and reacted before knowing your purpose here."
"It's alright Seungmin" I smiled.
"How was your trip?" he asked.
"I learned much" I replied.
"You must be tired after such a long trip. I will not keep you hear any longer. Please send our respects" he bowed slightly again.
"I will" I smiled as I turned and headed towards the mountain path.
Howon/Hoya POV
"That's it!" I could hear our manager screaming at someone as we arrived at the temple. "How could you just let her go? She obviously snuck in here because of my group!" he pointed towards something.
I turned and saw where he was pointing and there was a young woman walking towards the mountain path. I couldn't help but stare at her because she looked familiar. Where have I seen her before?
"Please calm down" the head monk spoke calmly. "I can attest that she lives on Fox Mountain. You can ask any of the monks here and they would answer the same."
"Is something wrong, Hyung?" Sunggyu asked our manager.
"No, I guess not. I thought that someone snuck in, but the monks insist that she lives on the mountain" he sighed angrily.
"Oh" we all nodded.
"If something happens, let me know immediately" he quickly added.
"Okay" we all responded.
"You all must be tired" the head monk approached us. "This is Bomin and Joochan" he gestured to a couple of young monks. "They will show you where you will be staying."
They led us to a secluded part of the temple where we wouldn't be disturbed. We all quickly settled in and went to sleep, because we knew that it would be an early start tomorrow.
The next morning, we all gathered together and were given the itinerary. Why did the boss agree to this? Was it really because of my name? If so, I wish I never changed it.
It seemed like the entire town had gathered for the event. Tons of fans came as well. Thankfully, they limited the amount of people allowed to go on the mountain edict delivery, so we wouldn't have to deal with too many fans.
The ceremony was actually very nice and respectful. I forget why I never liked it. Maybe because of the whole gumiho thing.
The head monk addressed the crowd and said "This year's designated courier is Lee Howon. Or more commonly referred to as Hoya of Infinite." The crowd cheered as he handed me the scroll.
"I am honored" I replied.
"To those who will be partaking in the edict delivery, if you find the path to the Fox King's burial tomb, try and relay the information to Hoya. Let this be the year that the edict is delivered!"
Everyone shouted joyously as we took off up the mountain path. Many of the participants took off running, hoping to be the first to discover the grave. I just walked along slowly, not really paying any attention to where I was going.
As I was making my way up the mountain, I was suddenly caught in a downpour. "What the hell!" I screamed. Then I took off running up the path I was on.
Sohee POV
After leaving the temple, I rushed home and collapsed from exhaustion. Who knew that traveling to Inchon and back would be so tiring. The next morning, I knew it was going to be a busy day. Thankfully, the monks have started to limit the amount of people they allow to partake in the edict delivery, so we don't have to worry too much about people getting lost. We still have to redirect people, but we don't need to send as many to guard as we used to.
The other gumihos told me that I could rest this year. They always felt bad that I had to help them, so they wanted to give me a chance to relax. I was thankful, because I never really had a chance to relax this time of the year. I always had to prepare for this event and I could never hold a proper memorial for Howon. "This year will be different" I smiled to myself.
I rushed off to the kitchen and started preparing the food for the memorial. Once ready, I brought everything out to his grave. I set everything up, just like the monks did in the memorial hall. I was very pleased with how things turned out. I quickly went inside and changed before returning to offer incense. After giving my bows, I just stood by his grave and thought about everything Howon and I used to do.
Suddenly it started to rain. "What the hell!" I heard someone scream from somewhere nearby. I turned to look at my front gate and saw a young man running towards my home.
