Part 1

Jongmin POV

The time has come once again for my annual visit to the archives in Incheon. To think my family has protected the secrets there for thousands of years. Even I still have a hard time believing that I am a descendant of a gumiho. My ancestor Sunjin truly was an amazing person. She sacrificed so much for the sake of her people, yet her deeds will never appear in the pages of history.

I sighed as I entered the vault. "To think that no one outside our family will ever know the history contained in these pages."

"This is the way it has always been" my Uncle Siwan said as he appeared from the darkness. I call him my uncle, but I really don't know how old he is or how many generations there are between us.

"I know" I half chuckled. "Still, I find it sad that no one knows. It's almost like they never existed."

Uncle Siwan took a seat on the couch in the corner. "If we could have revealed our existence without fear of being persecuted, we would have done so long ago" he stated calmly. "Believe me, I would have loved to tell everyone long ago" he laughed. "Then I wouldn't have had to serve in the army over and over again."

I couldn't help but chuckle. I had heard him complain about serving in the army multiple times.

Noticing my laughter, he commented "Just you wait. You will have to serve your time too. And you won't be laughing then."

"I know" I smiled. "You wouldn't want to join with me, would you?"

His eyes widened for a second before he said "You're on your own. I've already paid my dues multiple times. I think you can handle going by yourself." Then we both started to laugh. When we had finally stopped, he looked at me and asked "What are you going to do today?"

"Same as always" I smiled.

He sighed "Really?"

"Yup!"

"You know that there are a lot more exciting things to do then just cleaning the vault, right?"

"I know, but I like cleaning the vault."

"What's so fun about cleaning this place?"

"I get to learn the history that other people will never know existed."

Uncle Siwan rose from the couch and said "I'll come get you when dinner is ready."

"Thanks Uncle!"

He left the archives and I went about dusting as I always did. As I passed each shelf, I remembered the stories I had read over the years and smiled.

Suddenly, a book fell in front of me. I picked it up and began to dust the cover off. "The Legend of the Two Tailed Gumiho?" I mumbled as I read the title of the book. "Where did this come from?" I looked at the shelf nearby and couldn't find where it fell from.

Not wanting to place the book back in the wrong spot, I brought it out from the stacks and placed it on the table in the light. I could tell that it had been a very long time since it was last dusted, but I could not remember ever seeing the book before.

Was this a part of history that had been forgotten like Sunjin? Or was this a gumiho fairy tale?

There was only one way to find out... Read.

As I opened the book, a wave of warm light engulfed me.

The Legend of the Two Tailed Gumiho

'Although we shall never be mentioned in the History books, we, the gumihos of Busan, did exist and the Legend of our Two Tailed 'Fox Queen' Sohee must be told.'
