Part 9
Myung-dae POV
After I mentioned that my father was a doctor, they both froze. I think I might have scared them. "Don't worry, Sunjin is fine!" They looked at me and I could tell that they didn't trust me.
"Mom, I think we should go and check with Mr. Park to see if Sunjin saw him yesterday."
"I think you are..."
"I know why you are scared" I inturrupted them before they ran away.
"If you know" her brother looked around nervously "then you must understand why we don't trust youright now."
"I do" I relpied simply. "What can I do to have you believe in me?"
"Swear on your life" he snapped back.
"Siwan!" her mother shouted at him. Then she turned to me and said "Please ignore what he just said."
"No! If that will make you believe in me" I took a deep breath and said "Then I swear on my life that Sunjin is alive."
Both her mother and brother were shocked that I would even do that. "You really don't need to do that" her mother smiled contently.
"You really did it!" her brother was shocked.
"Of course! It was the only way you'd believe me." I smiled and then turned to continue walking.
Her family quickly caught up to me and her brother asked "What happened to her?"
"As I was saying, I happened to overhear some hunters near the temple saying that they were finding empty traps that had been triggered. They've begun to suspect that the foxes have learned to escape from them, so they decided to lace them with poison. That way if a fox was able to get away or escape the trap, they would still die from the poison."
"I can't believe they are so cruel" her mother commented.
"I tried to warn Sunin about it and insist that she see a doctor, but she wouldn't listen to me."
"Can you blame her?" her brother asked sarcastically.
"No, I can't blame her" I sighed. "When she passed out, I carried her to my house and asked my father to treat her. He was a little reluctant at first, but he agreed to help her."
"Is she okay?" her mother asked worriedly.
"She is fine" I smiled. "She did get poisoned, but my father said that it wasn't too bad. She just needs to take the medicine my father gives her and with a little rest she will be back to normal."
"Thank you" her mother sighed with relief.
We arrived at my house and I showed them to the room that Sunjin was in. I opened the door and, although Sunjin was a fox, I could tell she was very happy to see her mother.
Sunjin POV
"Mom! Siwan!" I happily cried when I saw them.
They rushed to my side and engulfed me in a hug. "My baby, are you okay?"
"I'm fine mom" I sighed with irritation. "They have been very nice to me."
My brother looked back at the door and then back at me. "What's wrong?" I asked.
"Nothing" he replied. "I was just looking for that guy."
"Myung-dae?"
"Huh?" O_o "Myung-what?"
"His name is Myung-dae. He was the one who helped me."
"Whatever" my brother huffed. Then he sat at me bedside and said "Guess you won't be going out alone from now on."
"Says who?"
"Me" my mother jumped in. "With the hunters using poison now, we have to be even more cautious. You are not to come to town without your brother. Understood?"
I sighed and said "Fine."
