Part 13
Sunjin POV
How can I refuse his sincere plea? "I swear that I will never mention any of this to your son."
"Thank you!" he bowed to me in appreciation, tears streaming down his face.
"In return..."
"Anything!"
"You will help my brother and I to purchase a large parcel of land where my family will be safe."
"Even if I do that, there will be people who will notice that you have not aged over the years. How are you going to deal with that?"
"I haven't thought about that yet."
Young-jae POV
"I have an idea" I smiled. "You will become my apprentice."
"What? How will that help me?"
"The poison that the hunters used wasn't that dangerous for you, but they don't know that. I can make up a lie that I was able to save you, but that you require daily medications that I will 'teach' you to make. This way I can train you to be a doctor."
"That doesn't help with my aging!"
"Let me finish" I sighed. "We will say that the medicine that I used had an unexpected effect on you and it caused you to age internally only."
"What do you mean?"
"It means that you will have the outside appearance of a young girl, but your body will still age internally. Meaning you will still be an old lady inside."
"How is this going to help me?" she protested. "If people find out about this, they are going to purposely poison themselves so that they can look like this as well."
"Not if I say that there is no guarantee that it will work."
"People would still want to try it."
"But then they would have to get the exact poison that was on that one trap. And from my understanding, the hunters are constantly adding poison to their traps. And not always the same poison too. So..."
"There is no way for them to figure out what the poison is or if it is a combination of poisons."
"Exactly! The correct ratio of poisons would be critical for it to work. Not to mention the fact that they would have to know what medications to use to counter it. Which, of course, I will not disclose to anyone but you" I smiled.
"It sounds very logical. Even if people wanted to protest, they wouldn't be able to with such sound reasoning." She paused for a moment to think. "Okay! We will do that."
"One other thing."
"What?"
"Because you will be my apprentice and I will help you obtain some land, you and your family will be indebted to me."
"WHAT?" she screamed. "You promised to help us if I didn't say anything to Myung-dae!"
"Calm down. I promised to help you with the land purchase in exchange for your silence" I smiled. "Being my apprentice is a different story all together."
Sunjin POV
I can't believe this bastard! How could he do this to us? I sighed.
"Please understand that it is only for appearances."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, I can't very well help you out with everything and not appear to be recieving some compensation, can I?"
I thought about it for a minute. "I suppose people would be suspicious" I reasoned.
"Exactly! As compensation" he thought and then said "You will have to come and help me whenever I call for you. How does that sound?"
O_O "What?"
He laughed. "I'm not saying that I'd call you all the time. Just once in a while" he smiled "to help me out. Does that sound fair?"
"I suppose that sounds reasonable" I rolled my eyes.
"Oh, and the same goes for Myung-dae too."
"What do you mean?"
"If he summons you, you have to come as well."
"Is there any other conditions you want to add?" I started getting irritated.
"Nope, that should be it" he smiled.
"Good!" I smiled and we both chuckled.
