Chapter Eight: Freedom...Or Not
It starts in my toes,
makes me crinkle nose.

"You drool."
"I do not!" I protest, my hand automatically flies to the corner of my mouth.
"What are you wiping then?" Austin teases and I roll my eyes.
"Let's find you a toothbrush, Einstein." I scoff and see him in my peripheral vision breathing into his hand, sniffing.
I laugh.
"The store should be opening in an hour." Austin checks the time on his phone, with a smile.
The store opened at eight, it was exactly 7:05 in the morning.
"Want to grab some breakfast?" I shrug and he laughs.
"Sure, lets walk down two aisles and pick it up." Austin chuckles and I grin hopelessly.
After talking with him about everything, it seemed like everything that was rough, between us, had dissolved into thin air.
Him and I were friends again, and it felt nice.
"Fruity Pebbles?" Austin smirked and threw the box at me I shielded myself and it fell to the floor.
"God, you're hopeless." Austin shakes his head, laughing. I pick up the cereal box off the floor and stick my tongue out at him.
"And you remembered." I smile teasingly and he rolls his eyes.
"How could I forget? You used to eat Fruity Pebbles at like, one in the morning and then go on a frantic studying kick." Austin smirks.
I smile at the memory.
"Correction, still do." I wink and he rolls his eyes.
"One of your procrastination habits." Austin grabbed a jug of milk from the glass refrigerator.
"Hold up, if I remember right, your grades were worse than mine, sir." I hold up my finger with a small laugh.
"Correction, still are." He mocks me and I kick his ankle.
"Don't get violent with me." Austin playfully teases.
"What're you going to do?" I teased.
"Go get the plastic bowls, weirdo." He rolls his eyes.
"Ah, the sign of weakness. No comebacks, pitiful." I sigh and grab the plastic bowls and he scoffs.
"I could so take you down." Austin smirks and runs his eyes down my body, I suck in my bottom lip nervously.
"Lets go eat." I change the subject and he shrugs following me.
We sit on the floor in front of the automatic doors, waiting for our rescuers, while we chomped on our Fruity Pebbles.
"What's your favorite color?" Austin tilts his head to the side, examining me, while I take another spoonful of the rainbow delight.
"It changes everyday. I really like blue, though." I smile and he nods.
"I just realized, I never knew that about you." Austin said, taking a spoonful of milk and dropping it into the bowl childishly.
"Really? I know your favorite color." I smile at him, feeling butterflies erupt in my stomach, for no apparent reason, and he raises an eyebrow.
"Shoot." He gives me a nod.
"It's black." I wiggle my eyebrows and he rolls his eyes.
"No, psht, it's not." He tries to lie, averting his eyes everywhere but I see his lips tilt up slightly, into a smile.
"You think your so dark, and this badass, but you're really a cute guy with big heart." I tease him and he scoffs.
"Are you going to give me my whole analysis, doc, or will you just email it to me?" Austin says dryly.
"You're cute." I continue to tease him and he starts his bowl to the side and crawls over to me.
"If I was so cute, would I do this?" Austin pushes me gently onto the floor and I laugh while he pins my wrists on both sides of my head.
I felt some type of warm feeling and I knew from before what it was.
No, absolutely not.
"You're trying to hard." I smirk up at him confidently, trying to stay strong.
"Oh yeah?" Austin leans over, bending his head down. He places a soft kiss on my cheek and brushes his lips down my jaw. I turn my head away, fluttering my eyes closed. He grabs my head and brushes my lips with his, before pulling away and simply resting his forehead on my own.
"Why won't you let me kiss you?" He whispers, frustrated.
"We've b-been through this before, not again." I say, out of breath.
"We can try." Austin suggests, tucking hair behind my ear.
"You have a girlfriend." I push him away from me and he sits up, staring at me intensely.
An alarm started to go off on Austin's phone, suddenly and he checked it.
"It's eight o'clock." He smiles and gives me his hand. We stand up together.
"Finally! Freedom!" I do a little dance and Austin looks at me skeptically.
"Don't. Just don't, do that again." He shakes his head and I roll my eyes.
It was 8:01.
8:02.
8:03.
8:04.
8:05.
8:06.
And soon, 8:30.
"What the fuck, is taking them so long?!" Austin runs a hand through his messy brown hair.
Then, my phone pinged.
" 'Thought you had no service?" Austin says.
"Uh..Austin?"
"Yeah?" Austin checks the time on his phone again, 8:45.
"It's a calendar event." I say slowly.
"Had plans today?" He says coolly.
"Sort of? Um. It's Presidents Day." I say nervously and he gives me a look.
"You have to be kidding me." Austin says blatantly.
"I wish I were." I chuckle nervously.
"Well, that's fucking fantastic."
