The squad of Pokémon made their way out of town and into the forest a little ways. Star and Pebble went ahead of Eve and Paris. The silence that overtook the two was maddening, so Eve attempted to talk to the Ralts.

"So, uh, how long have you known Pebble?" she asked, tilting her head. Paris continued to look forward and stayed silent, only shrugging to show he acknowledged the Eevee. "Oh... Right..." she mumbled, returning to quietness.

Pebble and Star were chatting rather loudly, but when Eve's name came up in their conversation, the Shinx paused and looked over his shoulder. "Are you two coming or not?" he chuckled. Pebble stopped as well and they waited for Paris and Eve to catch up.

The four Pokémon traversed the area slowly and patiently, taking everything in and keeping their eye's out for anything suspicious. In order to prevent getting lost, they left a trail of, get this, pebbles behind them.

The group continued walking for quite a while before they reached a clearing in the trees. A flock of Pidgeys startled and flew away when Pebble ran out and tried to chase one. Star rushed out after her, followed by Eve and then Paris.

"This would be a good place to rest," Star pointed out, setting down his bag and rummaging through it. Everyone agreed and sat down in a small circle formation in the center of the field. "Who's hungry?" Eve asked, pulling out four Big Apples from her bag. Star, Pebble, and Paris all grabbed one and munched on them, smiling as they did so.

In the middle of chewing on her fruit, Eve's ears suddenly perked up upon hearing a rustling sound in a nearby bush.

"Do you guys hear that?" she whispered. The three others stopped eating and tensed up, listening.

"Yeah.... It sounds like someone's moving around in the woods... But they're definitely bigger than any average forest dweller..." Pebble stated, whispering as well. Paris nudged his best friend and pointed towards the bush, and everyone turned in that direction.

"ALRIGHT YOU MYSTERIOUS POKÉMON, SHOW YOURSELF!" Star shouted, lunging closer towards the unknown creature.

He growled and prepared to fight. Eve came beside him in a defensive position, then Pebble and Paris joined, ready to battle as well. The four slowly got closer to the bush.

"Woah, you all are brave..." came a male voice from his hiding place. The bush rustled a bit more and then a young Riolu came out of it.
