The Search

I was already finishing my breakfast as fast as possible, I don't want to be late for school for the first day. It's been a while since I had that dream with the monster and the small demon furby. After I woke up, my parents quickly got me to the doctors to see what's wrong, and the doctor just gave me some tablets to keep my vitamins up. I was upset, since it was just a dream and it was really early, but my parents for some reason were really scared of me being really sick or something...

Even right now, my parents are staring at me with a worried look. As I was about to bite down on my last scoop of cereal, I looked around at the table. My siblings, well, my sisters looked at me as well, and Henry, my adoptive brother, doesn't look like he can care less. He finally said something this morning, "Look, if she did have a heart attack, she's fine. You guys are a bunch of scared wimps." He said, and walked upstairs before my parents said anything. I was about to object at Henry, but the same voice speaked in my head, "You can handle that problem later." I spit out my milk a little. I was so surprised with the sudden voice, and my parents looked scared again. I groaned and cleaned up the mess, "You guys, I have no idea why you look so worried. I was just sneezing, sheesh..." I lied to them again. I hated that I'm lying to my parents, but would they believe me if something was talking to me in my head? Of course not.

I finished cleaning up and as soon as I got my backpack to get to the bus, my older sister Sophie took me by the arm and turned me toward her. She then hugged me like it's the last time she'll see me, so did my little sister Cathy, who was going to kindergarten in a few days. "Uh, guys? Why are you all acting weird?" I asked. They didn't answer, but they both just let go and Sophie said, "Don't push people away, no matter who they are. Alright?" She then gave me a kiss on the forehead and walked off. Cathy followed after, holding her bunny. I wanted to ask so many questions, but I just walked out of the house.

~Time Skip to after school~

Today was great! I met all of my teachers, who were really nice and patient. Although I got Gym first period, and that's really tiring, but I couldn't care less. I got to the bus loop quickly, and sat down in the back row, I usually like it like that. As people started to fill in the bus, the bus driver came over to me and asked, "Is it true that you actually had a heart attack before school started? Your parents wrote that down on the health sheet that you had to turn in, and I read that before knowing who you were." At first, I was shocked, then I was angry. For some reason, I gripped hard on the seat and spoke through clenched teeth, "And I thought that this wouldn't be a problem." I then got up and out of the bus, running out of the school grounds. I heard the bus driver asking for assistance. And some teachers are already going after me.

I dropped my backpack, and jumped the fence. I then took a turn right, where the highway was, which is the direction of my house. I saw the timer on the stoplight, I only had fifteen seconds to cross, which was perfect, because by the time I reached the cross walk, I heard the teachers calling for me to stop. I didn't, I just ran faster. As I crossed the road, I heard them get closer, but that didn't stop me. I just ran across the road, and then kept running straight. I can run for a while, I just realized that I'll soon run out of energy. I was panting at that time, and I rounded a corner. It was an ally way, and it goes off in three ways, the one straight in front of me was a dead end, and the other ways were back toward the roads. I went to the dead end, and started climbing the pipe for the extra rainwater to flow down.

I climbed on top of it, then climbed down on the other side. Then I lost my grip and fell into a pile of boxes. At least I didn't break a bone or something.

I stood up and checked for bruises that are big, but that suddenly became my second priority, which I heard a small squeak. I thought it was a rat, but then I saw a bigger box, and a sort of yellowish tail coming out of it. It was fluffy, and there were patches of fur missing as well. I had no idea what it was, so I came closer to it. As soon as I stepped toward it, another squeak came from it, and the tail disappeared. Then I ran to the box before it could escape. It was in a dark box, and I couldn't see much, except the glowing silver eyes in the darkness.

I crouched down to it's size, and pulled out my flashlight and shown the creature inside it. It was no bigger than a average dog, but it was really skinny, I could easily see it's ribcage, but it's ears looked like it belonged to a bunny. The body looked sorta like a fluffy dinosaur in some sort of way. It bared its teeth, which were small, but sharp. I made slow movements to make it see that I don't mean to hurt it. It just growled as best as it can. I had no idea what it was, but I wish that I had my lunch box, so I can feed it. It looked like it was really hungry. Then I looked at the end of the alleyway, and I saw a cart with some fruit in them. The person working on it was just texting on his phone. I went over to it, hoping that the creature won't run away. I went to him and cleared my throat.

He didn't hear me, so I did it a second time, but louder. He then looked at me, his hazel hair covering one of his ocean blue eyes. He had freckles along his nose and cheeks, and a little on his arms. He is wearing a green shirt and jeans with a apron with a small apple logo, which was on his apron. I looked at his fruits and pointed to two bananas and an apple. He looked at me and nodded. He got two bananas and an apple in a plastic bag. He smiled and handed me the bag. I smiled back and gave him the remainder of the money in my wallet, which was five bucks. I gave it to him and thanked him. I ran back into the alley way, but I didn't look back, since the man was looking at me, smiling like he's heard a joke.

I checked the same box again, the creature was still there. I then realized that it has scars on his eyes. And his iris was the only color there, since the rest was black, and the pupil was the blackest of the black. It hissed at me, and I made the same signal again. Then I got out the banana, hoping that it was an omnivore as well, since I didn't get any jerky, since I had not enough of money to buy some. I pulled off the peel a bit and placed it near it, but not too close to it. I want it to reach out, since it can't stay hiding in that box forever. What if someone finds it and wants to make money out of it by selling it to scientists. Maybe it was the last of it's kind or something like that. It sniffed the air, and snatched the fruit with it's claws on its front paws. I realized that it has somewhat hands, but their still like paws. It has three fingers and a thumb, but it looked more paw like. It started nibbling on the yellow fruit, and it seemed a lot less tense, but still tense enough to run off if needed.

For some reason, this reminded me of How to Train your Dragon from DreamWorks. I have no idea why, but it does. I took the other banana and held it. After it finished the first one, it was about to take the second one, but it growled since I was holding it. I waited for twenty minutes, and it hasn't stopped growling. I pulled out a water bottle from my pouch that I carry as well as my backpack. I got the cleanest dog bowl that I could get, it was sorta cracked on the bottom, but I held it together with some cloth of my shirt. I poured some water into it and put it in front of it, it started drinking it a bunch, and dropped the dish after gulping the water down in a few seconds. I poured more water, and it only drank half of it, then it started growling again. I was still holding onto the banana.

I sighed and took off half peeled of a banana and held it out to him close enough to him. He still didn't take it, so I just placed it down, then it snatched it off from the floor and quickly ate it. I held out the other half while it was eating, and it didn't growl, it just waited. I sighed when it was another thirty minutes, and placed it down. As it was eating, I got hungry myself, so I ate a few bites of the apple, I heard it whine like it wanted it. So I did the only thing that I could think of, I still held onto the apple in front of it. It started growling, but I shushed it and it whimpered. I stopped immediately and still held onto the apple, hoping that it would take it.

~TIme Skip~

It still hasn't taken the apple. It started growling again. I sighed and was really tired. My parents must be worried sick right now, calling the school and walking across the city to search for me. I rubbed my eyes with my free hand. I looked over at the creature, I didn't even bother with the flashlight, since I can tell that the figure was still inside the box. I put down the apple and walked over against the building. I have no idea where I am either, so I just sighed again and laid my back against the wall. I slowly sank down to the ground, and hugged my legs as I rested my head on my knees. I slowly closed my eyes, and I was awoken by a squeak.

The small creature was right next to me. Now I could see it clearly, it had more scars. Mostly along the arms. And on it's shoulder, there is a spiral on it, and it seemed like it had some meaning to it. It had the apple in it's mouth, and it's offering it to me. I smiled at it, and instead of getting the apple, I gently ran my hand against it's neck, avoiding the scars as not to hurt it. The creature purred and rubbed it's head against my arm. I kept petting it, and smiling as it rubbed up against me as well. I soon giggled and laughed as it started licking my face. After the small petting and licking game, I gave into tiredness and laid my head against the ground. Then I felt something warm on me. I opened my eyes and saw that the small creature got a small rag and put it on me, then it curled up against me and fell asleep. I left my hand on it, and closed my eyes.

But we didn't know that someone was watching. A young man with hazel hair and blue eyes was watching from afar. It then turned into a dark misty character with white eyes. It gave a small grin at the two friends from long ago, and jumped into the reflection of a puddle, disappearing into the endless void of another universe.
